most ladies marry who is available when they want to marry. a man can get married even at 40 to a 20year old girl. women do not have that previlage ,their biological clock is not their friend. i will never advice any woman to wait for man. more 70 percent of campus relationship do not lead to marriage. finance is usually the major factor. I have a friend who dated a girl since his first year in school . They were always together, did everything together , they were even living together, their parents were even aware of their relationship. They behaved as if they cannot live apart. But after service year the story changed, the lady was willing to marry the guy but the guy was not ready due to finance. The parents of the girl were even willing to sponsor the wedding but the guy refused that he wanted to stand on his feet first. 6 months later the girl got married to someone else, went on to have 3 kids the ex boyfriend was still single. After 9 years the guy got married to a 20 year old girl. The ex girlfriend has grown up kids

Hello Guys, Good Morning and a Happy Sunday to you all.

I don't know how concise i can be, but I will try.

I just graduated last 3 months, with my girlfriend who's now my ex, and she's 26yrs of age while I'm 28yr.

We started dating from our 200level till yesterday, (that's approximately 4yrs and counting...).
We were ideal together, we were well known in school, to an extent where her friends and mine kept asking how? And wishing theirs was like ours..

She promised never to leave, and she please everyday that I should never hurt her. At times we jokingly talked about our future kids which is now a never happening fable.

So after we graduated, she travelled to stay with her aunt, we do check on each other everyday.

Last month.. She called, and said her friend needs an advice, that she and her date just graduated, and that another man is asking her out, and she's thinking of dumping her guy since he's not ready, and that the newly known man is ready to pay for her marriage rites.
Immediately I knew she was the one in the story, because I already had several dreams were she left me. I pretended, I told her to tell her friend to "Follow Her Heart".

Last night she called, and said there's something she wants to tell me, I responded, "Is it what I already know?", she asked what? I told her she's getting married soon, and she said yes! I was speechless. I asked her for how long has this been going on, she said it started when she came to stay with her Aunt. We spoke, and I congratulated her, she started crying, I ended the call, sent her a good luck text.

This morning, she called and said she couldn't sleep last night. I asked her why she did it, why she decided to get married, she said she doesn't know. I asked if she likes the guy, she said yes. She couldn't stop crying and was saying I shouldn't leave her, while she's the one leaving me. I was totally down, but I have crazy friends. I WhatsApp a friend, told him what just happened, his words boosted me up. He said, " Support her, we move, no be God leave you". That was enough, but it's hard, really hard to move on without her, and she said the same thing and kept pleading I shouldn't leave her.
Now I'm asking, if I was the one who had left, what would have been the story? That I used her and dumped her, because this has always been used against the guys.
Why are women in a rush to marry? They don't even add value to themselves, I'm now 80% in agreement that marriage is one of the greatest achievement for a woman, maybe in Nigeria.
she saw free money nothing else.

100% my brother, that’s all they pursue, majority of them anyway. It’s a circus, a joke. It’s disgusting how even them, abuse one another with marriage yarns, things like ‘ she never marry at her age’, like marriage is a goal outchea, we have problem here o.
Anyway, sorry brother, hurts like a bitch, but you’ll move on.

Welcome to outside World

You guys promised yourself heaven and earth while in inside world (on campus). Unfortunately, the relationship couldn't withstand the first challenge of outside World. It's time to move ahead and concentrate on building yourself before going into the next relationship if you don't want a repeat episode

This makes me remember one of my ex who has been singing marriage in my ear but i told her then that, marriage isn't sure for me in 5years, just because, she doesn't want to wait, she met a guy during her service and conceived for the guy.

They did engagement and after 2months living with the guy, the guy do beat and maltreat her and she left the guy to her parents house and gave birth there, she then came back to me after a child to another man but i bluntly told her we can't be anymore...

See talk! If you are not married you are called names! We are shamed by families and by friends into marriage. We are been told if you don't settled down at 20's forget it at 30's. Society called women in their 30's different names. I understand why she couldn't wait

It takes a very very strong woman not to bend to pressure.

The single lives they are all afraid of is what they later end up with in their 30's and 40's but this time with kids. Is that not foolishness.

At 26 a woman is ready for marriage. The 20s are the perfect time for her to bear children. You on the other hand at 28 years old have a long way to go before you are ready. I'd say from your mid to late 30s you will be ready. Living in a chaotic society like Niggeria you may not be ready till your early 40s. Somehow she is supposed to wait when her best years are behind her.
She is still in her feelings and you as the man are thinking like a woman, all up in your feelings. You should be able to see these things, let her go amd focus on building yourself. The wife you will eventually marry may have to break up with her own boyfriend to be your wife. Such is life

Re: Why Are Women In A Rush To Get Married? by AfroKnight: 10:19pm On Nov 21, 2021
I wonder why people gloss over the glaring detail here.

Did the man fall down from the sky to engage her? The only reason she got engaged was because she was steadily cheating on you. If you like, turn a blind eye to that detail. It tells you about her sneaky dishonesty.

She has sized you up and decided it would take some time before you became buoyant enough and she believed she couldn’t wait for that long. So she dumped you and chose someone who is ready in her books.

It’s not new. Girls have been doing this for ages. When guys dump them they say we used them but when they dump guys they say they followed the man who was ready. Conveniently forgetting the fact that they cheated steadily before they chose the new guy.

Forget her and her fake tears and move on with your life.

Same question I asked one girl last week. She's 23 years old and already getting worried, that she's supposed to be married by now.

Job she no get but she's expecting an employed guy to come for her. I sat her down and advised her to get a life and stop waiting for any man to marry. No guy will marry a liability nowadays. Only a lazy and unambitious girl would be waiting for a Mr right.

Very. Though we still have to blame the society for the unnecessary pressure on women to get married. Plus the stigmatization of the unmarried ones.

Ladies deal with alot of emotional and mental situation. If you noticed, ladies in developing economics approach menopause early and it's a great concern which make them want to quickly give birth to child. Most times, it's not about finance, though that cannot be ruled out, it's about the preparedness of a man, mental, psychological, mental and spiritual strength.

I won't blame the lady but the OP who needs to cut communication with her and focus on his dream. Between, there is a popular saying "there are plenty fishes in the ocean". When you are ready, there are plenty you can pick from.

In my final year in school, I was attracted to one of my classmates and she too was attracted to me. When I wanted us to get serious, the lady bluntly told me it won't work that she is looking forward to getting married asap and that it will take me years to be ready financially for marriage. I left her and moved on to someone else. 4 years later i was ready for marriage and I got married she is till yet to get married

"Why are women in a rush to marry? They don't even add value to themselves, I'm now 80% in agreement that marriage is one of the greatest achievement for a woman, maybe in Nigeria"

It's stupid and ignorant to generalise based on what one person did to you.

Women that have nothing else to show for their lives other than "patch patch" marriage, in cohort with men with toxic masculinity are usually the ones to deride hard working ladies that are trying to make name for themselves.

In Nigeria culture women's achievement are based on their marital status.

Everything Linda and Tiwa built through hardwork has been reduced to their marital status.

Rita and Genevieve are not left out, sad to say but this is where we are in our society.

Omo, you just said it all.
See how a lot of these ladies live a regrettable life being single moms. Others cope with cheating guy, other have to drag attention with number 2 woman.

most ladies marry who is available when they want to marry. a man can get married even at 40 to a 20year old girl. women do not have that previlage ,their biological clock is not their friend. i will never advice any woman to wait for man. more 70 percent of campus relationship do not lead to marriage. finance is usually the major factor. The ex girlfriend has grown up kids
my experience as well.
