Yes I have read some of the thread but there’s still a whole lot to take in. I’ll keep reading. Your advice on damp proof is noted.

Also pillars at the corners & chained beam. I read somewhere here it’s good especially when parapet is intended to help balance the load so I’ll definitely go for it.

So if I get you clearly, to use pillars at the 4 corners of the house so 4 pillars entirely or to use at every corner in the structure?

Thanks for your help.

Pillars at least at the corners but a structural engineer is a best advice giver.

I did mine POD too with him (@hslbroker2) and I never had to worry about anything.

The only issue I have is my carpenter has been mad that I didn’t allow him to see the supplier because he want to tell him all his woods are bad grin

Thank you sir for your patronage.

You actually save me from their exhortation, even if is Mahogany or Masonia the most expensive woods in the world you supply in lieu of akun, ofu, Itara, ogborugboru, they may tell the house owner or the project owner that the woods are bad.

Because they didn't have the chance to supply the woods, because the house owner or the project owner didn't know woods, so they will spoil the supplier to lure the project owner or the house owner.

In order to have your TV wall and safe circulation, effective toilet layout, It will be nice if you can relocate few doors, wardrobe and toilet, ensure that all the toilet are been accessed from bedroom, check the attached pics for your perusal, congrats in advance, have a joyous build,
Nice but for the kitchen after relocating the door as you have indicated what pattern of cabinet arrangement do you propose? I feel that original door location is ok, it allows L shaped cabinet arrangement which is recommended, then no door for the loby let there be an opening with arc above to throw in soft light there, and allow users see if someone is coming out from the kitchen avoiding collision during movement, they can put a curtain there for privacy. For the masters bedroom, the arrangement is okay, recommending the entrance door to the masters bedrooms be moved as you indicated will mean that toilet is for everyone instead of the masters and that is not Good at all. The wardrobe relocation will maximise space as you rightly suggested, but i feel it should be in close proximity with the bathroom.

All my takes are due to my inclination(MEP) I'm not an architect, you know it better, but safety wise do you think its ok, having kitchen and dining door the way it's? I stand to be corrected,

For the masters bedroom : as I said earlier all the bedroom toilets should be accessed from inside not outside, this means after moving the wardrobe, we are having centralised toilet door

i understand, for the kitchen that door is not bad there for L shaped kitchen cabinets arrangement, it show be opening inwards.
To avoid collision and provide lighting into the lobby, that lobby door should be removed, any collision would be avoided by removing that lobby door and creating an arc there.
For the masters bedroom you are correct

You can prevent snake, rodent, or roaches with the installation of flap valve or non return valve on your drainage line at the point of disposal, or discharged, these valves allow the flow in one direction while preventing the backflow, they are also serves as anti-flooding, for any of your storm drain,

I enjoy reading your thoughts on structural problems.

Aforxzy:
Beams should not be concealed in a flat slab. Flat slabs are beamless. It's wrong if done. Ribbed slab yes in the ribs with considerable depth e.g the hollow pot type.

Hello my Good People, Thank you very much for your Positive feedback, suggestions and criticism for the detailed architectural floor plan of 3 Bedrooms at the front and 1 Bedroom at the back on 50x100 fts I posted days ago. Here is the Modified Plan and 3D Representation of the plan. Any feedback, criticism and suggestion will be appreciated.

Thank you all.
Boss, Good to see you are making headway in your quest to get a working Architectural design, However I have my reservations about this particular floor plan.
1. Transiting to other spaces from the anteroom through the lounge isn't a good idea, the idea of an anteroom is to give the lounge a bit of privacy especially when important guests are meeting in the lounge, hence the essence of the anteroom in my opinion has been defeated.
2. Your lobby is a high traffic space and should have a primary source of light to reduce the possibility of accident. Find a way to lit up the lobby please.
3. Your kitchen terrace is a non functional one, there are so small that they may not even take up your door swing. Kitchen terraces usually serve as a waste collection point, where you deposit kitchen wastes, at times users even go as far as having their gas cylinders stationed at the kitchen terrace.
4. I can see some wasted spaces, I marked them red.
5. Circulation path in one of your rooms is a diagonal one and would affect the furniture arrangement and the overall space use.

Peace be with you.

Yes but you also need to pay attention when installing it in flood zone and areas with high water table because it also come with lots of issues (standing water, clogged drain, water can also accumulate within the drain during continuous use leading to health issues etc) when not properly installed or when the right design is not adopted.

'Hidden beams' in this context are small beams usually having the same depth as the solid slab. The term hidden is used because the beam is concealed in the reinforced concrete solid slab.

The beam you described is the downstand beam placed on the sandcrete blocks. This is usually 450mm deep or more unlike the hidden 150mm beam.

Quite interesting to see this kind of discussion in a long time. My own little contribution. Theoretically, there is nothing like secret beam as far as I know, there is no structural analysis that support it in design (I am open for correction no man is an island of knowledge). Meanwhile if you ask me I also do it I once asked my boss under whom I had my tutelage about it and he said the purpose is to stiffened a ver wide slab to reduce tendencies of deflection. I took it in at that time but couldn't relate it with any theory but as learn more in the field I come to know that in waffle slab or hollow claypot slab we normally have strips of beams at a close intervals and such beams are imbeded in the slab. Since, then on my own I can justify the need for hidden/concealed beam in slabs. Nevertheless, if a slab has been design without hidden beam and the structural design is followed with best practices then there is no cause for alarm.
