Help Corolla AC by eddy2farm(m): 10:28pm On Nov 24, 2021
My 2009 Corolla ac is giving me issue.it start by not cooling when but on but, after some minutes it start cooling.later I need to increase the RPM before it start cooling.
The bad part now is that it doesn't cool again.
Normally when put on , it work for some minutes and goes off as a result of thermostat
But now I noticed it come on from the sound of the engine but it doesn't go off as it was as it was before and no cooling. I check the gas, it is ok.
Please help before I start buying Rong parts

Relay is going bad. Change it

Re: Help Corolla AC by autologic: 6:36am On Nov 25, 2021
2009 corolla ac should be the VDC compressor type which means is being duty -cirlce driven by a dedicated module and no relay inbuilt unless it has been converted to a manual compressor. You need to confirm what kind of compressor u have there first .

The compressor is factory . I mean automatic compressor .
Not tempered at all

Then why do u assume that there is ac relay somewhere cos if it automotic (VDC ) compressor by design there is no ac relay anywhere .Best bet is for u to take the ac to a technician that can help to troubleshoot the issue with ac manifold Guage .

I am not saying there is relay . What I mean is that, I don't tink it use relay.
Why does it work sometime and most time stay on without cooling but yet you could here the compressor working

Re: Help Corolla AC by jubundi: 5:44pm On Nov 27, 2021
Have you checked the AC Fan resistor? It could be the cause. Locate a good AC technician to help you out.

The issue you are experiencing doesn't have anything to do with fan resistor if you confirm the fan blow hot air wen compressor stop working which means the fan is ok .
One of the symptoms that show u have a fan blower resistor issue is evidence of icing forming on the hoses and evaporator
Re: Help Corolla AC by eddy2farm(m): 5:38pm On Nov 28, 2021

My fan blow well
When I put on my ac the pipe at the engine bay usually get good but now it get hot.
The AC work for like 4 minutes yesterday and went off . Does the AC have a separate thermostat ?

That eliminate any issue with blower fan or resistor .The design of your compressor is such that it is directly computer controlled by triggering solenoid on the compressor.
So the fault might lies on part listed : the ac computer modules ,open circuit along the wires or the triggering solenoid on the compressor.
Picture of the solenoid is shown below .
Find a good technician to help u with the troubleshooting

New compressor loading... That car and ac wahala are tight friends, that's how its wahala starts. And if care is not taken, u may end up with manual compressor.

pressure switch may be bad. Scan with a good scanner capable of checking body modules.
Re: Help Corolla AC by eddy2farm(m): 7:48am On Nov 29, 2021
[/color. I actually check the pressure switch this morning. First I check the Freon (gas) on the line where the pressure switch is. There was a lot of pressure compared to the cooling line pressure though I did use any special tools.
I put on the ac and release some gas from the pressure switch valve , I noticed the compressor almost pick . Went inside the car and increase the RPM boom the AC pick and was working fine.i put it off and on it back it was working .
I no I have not solve the problem what could actually cause the compressor to start working after increasing the RPM ? Or is the pressure switch bad. I put my scanner but could not see any code relating to the AC . I was thinking of flushing the AC line and put in new Freon.

I don't really advocate for diy on ac and electrical
system cos u can easily injure yourself and even cause more issue to the system than necessary as u are not trained for this and u don't properly understanding on how this stuff works where u toying is jst too sensitive.
That is is not way to check for pressure sensor ,checking the pressure pid on the scanner will suffice .
Stop disturbing yourself if u don't trust mechanic around you ,jst take your car to part market for parts swapping,

You need to hook up guages to your system to see what's really going on. Freon might be too much in the system, it might be something else. A manifold gauge will shed more light.

like i said, look for a scanner that can scan ac. That will help you rule out or rule in pressure switch. Such scanner will also tell you if your system is overcharged with freon
Re: Help Corolla AC by jubundi: 12:50pm On Dec 01, 2021
The AC Fan is located under the dashboard at the front of the passenger seat. The resistor is fitted to the Ac fan.

I use 2009 toyota corolla. When I had similar issue with the AC, I took it to an AC technician who discovered that the resistor was faulty. We replaced it with a new resistor and everything started working fine.

Also try to see if there are leakages of gas and have them blocked

Those are the issues that affect Corolla AC

Bros I really need your advice now.
I take the car to ac guy , he said the compressor is failing and I need to change it to clutch compressor. Is it advisable to change to manual compressor ?( clutch compressor)
I don't want to spend about 100k and start regretting.
He said I need compressor and condenser which is almost 85k. Pls help me .

Since it has been confirmed that you have a bad compressor, just ensure that the mechanic doing the job knows is onions wells cos u will pay more than double that cost for automatic compressor.

I told u this a long time ago. I have used that car for 13yrs (2008, south African model, till 2021) just sold it off.
I replaced the VDC (auto) compressor with same specification, yet it failed after sometime not up to one year.
If u can, get a follow come VDC, but know it will fail later.

About the manual, hmmmn!!! Just pray u get an expert, cos a base will be constructed, new pulley belt, some other things to be changed. Failure to get an expert to fix it, it will be giving u wahala. But the compressor is workable, to an extent.
Good luck.
