Hello everyone I just got denied today in Abuja embassy transcript later ,my resumption date is January 5th can I still get a date in Lagos?

Same here. The VO kept Rejecting People because of travel history. This is a very irrelevant reason for Visa denial. Common there is always a first time. I was rejected too with my wife and baby. Immediately in answered his first question. Every other thing I was saying he didn’t listen, he didn’t even look at my docs

So sorry about that. Try again and you will be favored. You can also share your transcript here

One of the consular at the Lagos consulate when she was talking at a zoom meeting organised by EducationUSA Lagos said there was no special dress code for interviews that you can wear anything you're comfortable in.
She even went on and said some ladies wear heels which she feels its not necessary and also inconvenient.
#my opinion wear something decent and comfortable.
Goodluck on your interview

VISA Approved today in Abuja 12pm

Course of Study: Mechanical Engineering
School: University of Colorado, Boulder
Fee: 52k
Funding: 14k
Balance: 38k

VO: Good afternoon, pass me your I20 and passport
Me: Good afternoon sir
VO: Have you ever traveled out of the country before?
Me: No, I have not had any reason to.
VO: What are you going to the US for
ME: I am going for my masters research program in the University of Colorado Boulder. I will be working with Dr. blablabla on Renewable Energy integration.
VO: How did you find out about your program
Me: I presented a paper during a conference hosted at CU Boulder, then during the breakout session I was able to connect with Dr. blablabla and I spoke about my interest in renewable energy grid integration. She was fascinated to hear about it and she told me she’s also working on a similar project funded by the department of energy. She suggested I join her research team and she put in a word for me to the department head about my research interest and the prospect of joining the department as a grad student.
VO: you mean you went to CU Boulder for a conference?
Me: no, I attended the conference virtually. I presented online.
VO: Oh okay. That’s nice.
VO: How do you plan on paying for your program
Me: well as you can see on my I20, my I have a scholarship of 14k, the balance will be paid by my father.
VO: what does your father do?
ME: He is a politician and a businessman. He owns a saw milling factory, palm oil plantation, palm oil processing factory etc
VO: He’s a politician? What kind of politician?
ME: I explained to him
VO: Okay your application looks good, I’ll be approving your visa…

I tried to listen to the rest of what he was saying after those golden words but I can remember anything.

I didn’t see the Korean VO that’s talked about. Just one bald white male attended to most of us.

I am grateful for the community here. The information posted here and the transcripts helped me to prepare well. I feel getting the visa is easy if one is confident and have a good application. Tbh when I listening to some other interviews before my turn I could tell the outcome from the conversation. Most people don’t prepare well for the interviews and it sometimes obvious from their answers, so can’t really blame the VOs for refusing.

Thank you all.

Thanks to those assisting to supply answers. God bless you!

I graduated with a second class lower distinction (2.6) in English, and had my masters in the same course. I wish to go study same course for PhD but from what I’ve read here, it seems like the requirements are way beyond my grades. Any help?

Also, do you think it’s necessary (for me) to write the English test of proficiency?
My question may seem funny but e get why. Please help. Thank you!

Good afternoon everyone i sent an email to the US embassy for surge, I didn’t get an auto response and it has been 3 days now. Should i send another mail with all my documents with a different email or just send a follow up mail with the same email……….pls help
Hi, which one did you send email to? Abuja or Lagos?
And also, whichever one it is, try to make sure the email address is correct. It can be confusing sometimes.
If you're sure you've done all the above, then I would suggest you resend the email and try to recompose it.

[Qquote author=kekeakinwale post=105737230]

I give God all the glory , it can only be God.

So I got my 1-20 for fall admission , i applied for emergency date in lagos, but for 1month no reply from them, then I saw a lady here that said she changed from lagos to Abuja and she didnt have to pay for another visa fee,
I quickly contacted her, my sister God will bless you,
She reply and took me through how to change and I did, got a date for feb 2022 and then i applied for emergency date and then the wait begins.
When I saw that I might not make it to fall,
I quickly contacted my school and explained my issue to them and I needed to defer to spring 2022, and a new update 1- 20 was sent.
Luckily my emergency date was approved and then I picked September 10th 2021.

Now two days to my interview I decided that I didnt to update my ds160 since I was not travelling in August anymore which I need.
Only for me to find out I was not suppose to update it.
I was informed I might not be allowed for the interview.
O my, I was scared, I screamed, then my husband kept saying where is your faith.
Then I also noticed the bar code on my son ds160 and in the appointment confirmation form didnt tally,
O boy I was scared. What do I do, I kept asking God what would you have me do.

Then I proceed to board my flight from Akure to Abuja,

While I was asking God what would you have me do, I went on Instagram and I saw pastor bolaji of NLP saying if you have prayed and it not forth coming, look for a scripture and back it up with your prayer,
I got to my hotel room,
By 12am, I praised God danced and read luke 21 vs 15.
Guess what I did not do any preparation of what I will say, I just told my self that the lord will put in my mouth to say and honestly he did.

6.45am, I left to the embassy I got there I saw I explained my issue to her concerning my son's bar code not tallying , then she helped me to retrieve the old one with 5000naira,
Laughing, something I realised I could do my self .

Any ways I also could not print out my bank statement, I sba went it.
When I got to the place where they will check you, my name and my son's name was seen, at that moment I knew I was getting the visa,
I entered, proceeded to a black man who scanned our passport, bar barcode, and then I proceeded for interview.

I suspect that part "who is sponsoring you? " could be the problem. Some time is better self sponsored as a family man, they might look at it in a different direction as if some is taking your burden as full grown man. If is organisation sponsor that's different. Self sponsor is better if you have prove of fund as a family man.
