pocohantas:oh you still need generators if you are a high maintenance person who wants air conditioner on. this setup can never run an airconditioner. to run an airconditioner with this setup you will need to buy like 20 deep cycle 200 amp hour batteries and then connect them together in series as well as parallel to increase voltage as well as to increase amp hour. and to buy 20 batteries will cost over 1 million naira. each battery is like 90k. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Ovaltine: Depending on your type of inverter. My sukam has overload starter and protection. There is a relay that helps start inductive loads perfectly. If your inverter is not locally made, you don't have problems. 1 Like 1 Share |

Interesting read With a little research you can also construct an automatic transfer switch to select your power source. Preference will be in the following order respectively NEPA, solar power and battery power. In that way your power supply will be uninterrupted. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Very nice post OP. And, good work on your part. However, it's a real shame that one has to go through this just to get somewhat constant power supply. The country has failed its citizens! I mean...inverter, solar, generator, etc. just to get power. And upon it all, one may still not get enough enjoy all the benefits of constant electricity. what a country! 4 Likes |

Op@laathero, I don't know if you will ever get this but this is what I have to say: First I'm happy you mentioned the energy from Baba God is free and guess what? It is the best. It is far better than any man-made source of energy. Ultimately, All energy sources on Earth come from the Sun. Your write-up is a most important piece of information Nigerians need as regards power issues. I have decided to go fully solar when I finish my house by the grace of God. It is a far wiser, better and far more rewarding! 4 Likes |

FreeStuffsNG:If he gets billings from whichever disco at 23k per month, in 10months that will be 230k. He has saved probably 78k without blinking and also got light 24/7 without waiting for nepa or what ever to restore light. If he is using gen, he just said 1kva is between 80 to 100k. To power that gen for 10hrs, he will need to buy atleast 5litres of fuel which is approximately 1k multiply it by 30days = 30k. Every month u must service the gen set, which will gulp additional 2k. Every 6months u must do general servicing where u change piston n rings and other stuffs. So 30k approximately in 10 months is 300k.. Plus noise and most times heartbreak cos u will off gen, then the next morning u wan start am, it will misbehave. If this wasn't sustainable, fashola won't be spending time doing it. Renewable energy is the future... Heard from 2022 germany will shut down 90percent of its coal plants.. 11 Likes |
