Please do not hesitate to reapply again for some of y’all who got denied. Trust me it is just a setback and shouldn’t shake you one bit. Interestingly, i am surprised most folks with huge funding still got denied. Probably the VOs are now stricter or they want some sort of stellar speech from you. Prepare diligently, Pray and Reapply again. For everyone preparing for their interview soon, Please prepare diligently and be careful with the way you respond to some questions. The VO knows when you are just saying it like you crammed it and not making a convincing statement. Look into their eyes, and respond with calmness, yet with an outspoken tone. I wish everyone the best.

Good evening everyone please a friend was told to write a lspse letter. It's the last stage for her admission decision
She plans to go for nursing
Kindly help vent this and point out any necessary additions or subtraction thanks

I am writing to bring to your notice about my 3-year lapse period after my graduation from high school. I graduated high school in the year 2018 and I decided it would be in my best interest to learn a skill or work and raise funds for myself right before I further my education.

After a month at home, I enrolled at Spring Computer Institute, Ughelli where I took classes on Microsoft office and Corel Draw. I had to stop my classes early 2019 to take care of my dad. He had an accident and I was always at the hospital with him. I started developing an interest in nursing during my time with him at the hospital because of the way the nurses handled the patients and responded to them. By the time he was discharged, I was already certain I would love to pursue nursing as a career choice.

2020 came with the COVID virus and we officially went into lockdown. But during the lockdown, I picked up and interest in baking and started learning while at home.

The new year brought us out of lockdown where I had to wait for the next academic session before applying for a university. I do hope this letter is able to pass across the reasons for the lapse in my education.

The grades are good. you can definitely get scholarship for another masters. in this case your SOP has to be used to properly sell yourself.

Sir,hope applying with a master's degree for another masters won't show the VO that such person is desperate to leave

No. Any document you know you cannot submit just send an email telling them you cannot get the document now. You can ask them to give you time and the will. Financial statement or affidavit of support don't stop you from getting admitted

Visa denied today
Lagos Embassy
Tuition expenses: $56000
Funding : $57,000
Deficit: No deficit
School: George Washington University

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning
VO: I can see you are going for your doctorate degree, how did you get this huge scholarship?
Me: I believe the admission committee were impressed with my academic profile which includes my academic transcripts, excellent gre score of 332, Quantitative 169, Verbal 163 and analytical writing 5.0. Good lettee of recommendations and my statement of purpose.

VO: very good. Sorry i cant approve your visa at this time.gives me blue paper.

Pls I am trying to reapply for the visa. Can i be approved for the surge emergency appointment at abuja embassy. Since i already applied for Surge in lagos embassy. I need your suggestions as how to go about getting a new visa appointment. My resumltion date is jan 18. Thank you.

Judging from others' transcripts, I blame Omicron. Between today and next Monday, the US will bar Nigerians into the country. To them, better a denied visa than a visa yet a traveller can enter into the country. If not, this is a stellar profile just like the lad who got a full ride for MSc in Plant Pathology at the same embassy days ago.

Blame Omicron cry

ObodoNaija:
Guys please help me look into my first and second transcript. Let me know what went wrong. I will be going for the third one soon.

First interview by the Korean VO in October.

VO: Have you travelled out before?

ME: No, I have not.

VO: I can see you have a scholarship, who will be paying the deficit?

ME: My uncle who is the HSE Manager at *** and also has a business that deals on importation of cars and Safety materials will be covering the deficit.

VO: ( He started typing and after that he looked at me and asked) Where do you work?

ME: I work at *** as an Assistant Lecturer where I share academic workload with ***

The next thing he said was thank you for coming... and he handed the blue paper to me

Second Transcript

Second interview by the Tattoo VO in Lagos ( November). He was the only VO on seat that day.

ME: Good morning

VO: Good morning

VO: I can see you are going for your Ph.D in Educational Psychology at Texas Tech University.

ME: Yes

VO: What is your highest qualification?

ME: I have a Masters degree in Educational Administration and planning from ***.

VO: When did you graduate?

ME: I graduated in 2018

VO: After that what have you been doing?

ME: Immediately after my graduation I was retained in *** as an Assistant Lecturer where I share academic workload with ***

VO: Why are you going for a Ph.D program?

ME: This program would not only position me to take up a senior Lecturing role in *** where I currently work as an Assistant Lecturer but it will also enhance my competences in understanding and discovering the strategies that can help educate all students including those with severe and multiple disabilities in a general education classroom, and with this I can be able to impact the Educational sector in Nigeria in terms of policy building and development as it pertains to Curriculum development.

VO: How do you intend to sponsor yourself?

ME: I got a research assistantship position that qualifies me for a tuition waiver and supplementary fees with a stipend of $1283 and my uncle who is not just my uncle but my guardian and mentor since the death of my father in ***. He has been the one taking care of my needs, in short I grew up thinking he is my elder brother because he lived with us before he got married in 1993 ( Immediately I said that he looked at me).

VO: What does your uncle do?

ME: He is the HSE Manager at *** and also a Real Estate investor. He has properties in four states Lagos, Port Harcourt, Imo and Abia State ( I noticed he picked up his pen and started typing)

VO: Will you be the only one studying abroad? ( When he asked this question I felt he was going to approve my visa, cus there was a lady he asked same question and he approved the lady's visa)

ME: Yes, I will

VO: ( He was staring at his desktop screen and was tapping his pen on the table) Have you travelled out before? ( When he asked this question, I knew instantly that I have lost the chance)

ME: No, I have not.

He picked up the blue paper and said the normal you are... then he handed it to me.

Please how do I combine that my uncle is into Real Estate and importation of cars and Safety materials too. In my first interview I mentioned importation of cars while in my second I mentioned Real Estate investor. He does the two but I didn't mention both in my second interview, I mentioned them differently ( I didn't say them together so it wont look like he is into too many things, and all same I think cus I didn't mention importation of cars and Safety materials the second VO might have thought I am lying cus I feel they usually have a record of all we say).

Please do advice me on what you think might have gone wrong and the next step to take.

Hmmm... in your second interview, you were so close to getting this visa but there is a not-so-positive remark the first VO wrote on your profile. This is the hindrance. Honestly, I hope you’ll get a better VO that may overlook those remarks and issue you a visa.

Good luck

I dont really think is the Omicron that made his visa to be denied today cus some people also got approved today. I think this surge of a think is a trap, same thing happened last Wednesday (24th Nov) which was the first scheduled day for the surge, there was massive denial.

For me it is better to have a visa at hand oooo than been denied, once the ban is lifted u can enter the country.

What negative remark did the first VO write on my profile when he just asked me only 3 questions.

So sorry for d delay. Try again ok. I feel wat went wrong was not declaring your husb's tie wit d US.You didnt fill or tell d VO that your husband is a canadian citizen but they have the information in their system esp because he works in d US. Once you filled his name in the ds 160, his information will pop out on their system. Thats y d VO asked u the unique question. Is your husb a Nigerian citizen? They feel you have close ties in d US and u r hiding it. Next time, pls say he has dual citizenship. Thank u.

my wife got approved today F1 with a kid on F2.
I read the guy's transcript and i am shocked to my marrow he was not given especially going to such a reputable university and having funding.

my only advise is guys, please take time to fill out your DS-160 properly. I honestly believe that US visa interview is determined before hand i.e. before the candidate makes an appearance. You may convince them, you may talk yourself out of it but i strongly am of the believe that US visas are granted before you even make an appearance.

Maybe they have AI that assists them in placing everyone in particular categories? Maybe they have a dedicated team that simply reviews each application but i strongly believe what i said above and alot of people's experience both here and elsewhere point toward this.
