If Yorubas were as senseless and non strategic like Igbo Leaders starting from Zik to modern day Governors, the Ijaws would have since claimed the entire ONDO sea coasts.

But Yorubas made sure to keep them in check.

They were also checkmated in Lagos seas coasts too.
It's sad to admit, but Yorubas always had more strategic and foresighted Politicians than we do in Igboland.
The average Igbo Politician doesn't think beyond stockpiling funds from his state or constituency to go live in USA, UK or Canada.
Important group survival issues is non of their business.

It's a pity, this is what we have to correct.

At least for the igbos there is awareness now. The people you should pity are the Akwa/Cross people...theirs is taking place as we speak.

You dig it yourself and show me.I've asked and nobody responded.Just an excerpt of the Nigeria army and Biafra fighting in Bonny.

I just watched an Opobo group dance on facebook now(Opobo connect) where they won an award in Abuja either yesterday or today.
You guys should watch it and come tell me if you understand what they were singing in your languages(ijaw or igbo)

The song goes like this:
kpakpa ngolo, kpa ngo(X2)
udu ya, ogele(X2)
etc

Yeah.
I watched the video too.
One of them I watched in U-tube, in the comment section, a frustrated Bayelsa man commented like this: "what sort of foreign culture and music is this".

Laugh no gree me.
If I find that video, I will post it here.

It is also the, "we are brother mentality".. Yorubas have never had to do any dealings historically with Ijaws.. To Yorubas, they are just a pirate group living in a distant land and with no link or much relationship. So, they deal with them with no emotions attached.

Yeah, it is always decisive and devastating.

The majority will always dominate the minority.

Ijaws are minority in Ondo, but that's not the reason they are almost "Yorubanized".Ijaws tend to bear the names of the location they were born, learn the language and blend in.

Ashi!!!! Chineke !!!

You claim you own all the coast and lived in the waters. Did your forefathers hate the Yoruba waters, why did you guys find home in the eastern waters? Ask yourself this question.

Yoruba's used hard hand on you people and curtialed you people. If not, if you knew Yoruba's were accommodating you people, you people would have packed there in large numbers. But the east were accommodating and accepted you people, and you claimed and claimed and claimed grin

Chai, but it would stop soon, you people would find your place. With the facts given, there'll be Igbo renaissance in Bonny and Opobo, I'm sure of.

The internet would keep the facts till eternity.

No it's not part of the Ijaw musical instruments.

There are Ijaw migrant camps in Gabon and Cameroon. They aren't Indegenes. In Gabon, government policies have forced them hinterland and been absorbed by indigenous tribes.

I remember my dad and grandad used to tell me stories of how they would go fishing from my village in Sagbama to Gabon. It's actually very close by sea, like their backyard. They'd paddle all the way and back.

The first migration to Gabon was in the early 20s forming Kala(small) fishing ports.

This was in response to my question if oja is part of ijaw musical instruments.

Ijaw is a fraud. They've also given you people facts that you were in the sea, lived in the sea. So now, tell me, how would Igbo be at the fringes...Oh, sorry, you mean at the coast? And you guys were at the sea. That's plausible.

You guys never owned land. Opobo and Bonny are meant to dislike you people the minute they know what Boro did to their kind, perhaps there was a time you sneakily asked for reconciliation and began to cleanse their language from them.

But the Chi of all Igbos are strong. They stuck to their language till the end of time, and you Ijaws aren't getting it. grin
ok, I see you have been brainwashed.
continue.
funny thing is you don't know the ijoh's are an ancient autochthonous people who inhabited the coast, swamps and mangroves.
Bonny was a swamp, the ancient people traded salt with the Benin empire several hundred years ago before the Advent of the Europeans, keep allowing yourself to be decieved we know the mass migration, the birth of several clans when there founders migrated.
all ijoh's know there history, and not all ijos were sea pirates only the obiama's, and other ijo tribes banded and purnished them.
calling ijos pirates is like saying the entire ibos are 419ers

This one you are calling Alexballs like this, how are you sure he isn't as ignorant as you.

And I didn't say Ijaaws are not living harmoniously with their neighbours. They know Yoruba's right, they don't take nosense, one issue with them, and they'll be cutting you people one by one.

If they were so accommodating in the past, I'm sure most of your people would pack there and call it Ijaw Republic and Yoruba took the land by their Oni kankafo who destablized the King of Swami Okololooman Illage grin but these your names are sweet oo..

They are not Indigenes because the Gabonese tribes were wise and were quickly on your case immediately you showed up in their coasts.
If they had allowed you to settle, in 50yrs you will start springing up your villages everywhere and in 100years you would be Indigenes.

Ijaws always know their place.Dem no dey do pass their selves. They migrated there and still make contact with their families back home till date.

An Ijaw will only react if you attack him first, otherwise he'll remain at his coast and do his fishing.

If they are as ambitious as most of you say,you won't find them mostly along the coast or rivers. They would sojourn inland and dominate.

Yorubas are more politically aware especially when it comes to things that threatens their borders and territory. They cut it early as it is budding. You can't even find minorities in their religion. They deal with you immediately.

When Ijaws were terrorising Ikorodu, looking for place to annex with piracy, Yorubas stepped in immediately.

Yoruba's weak point are the Fulanis when it comes to territories.

No, no, they believe because they are Ijaws they are rightly the owners of the coast.

Ijaws and coastal seas are synonymous that's what they believe. grin

Ijaw= sea people.

Ijaws know nothing.

You were simply shown your place by Gabonese tribes who themselves are very territorial and non accommodating.

If they gave you an inch in those their water fronts, it would have been a different story today. You would have immediately set up camps there immediately start naming the coastal lands after your local names , looked for smaller tribes to annex and start making Aboriginal claims in a matter of a century.

I remember this Ikorodu debacle.
Ijaws are still crying over their inability to get foothold on Lagos coasts in their groups.

Yorubas are very strategic at leadership level.
They beat us hands down on that.
We have the most aloof and non strategic leadership in Nigeria.

They set up camps na and never claimed to be indigenes.

All Ijaw colonialization of people coasts starts from setting camps first and foremost. Fishing camps.

Then they start pirate activities to ward off the in dwelling villages from coming close to the coasts.
Then they slowly start building shanties in lands close to the coasts. This is the stage at which they give the settlement a name.

Then now start marrying women from the owners of the land they hijacked their coasts, they multiply quickly and soon they start receiving more of their people from their homeland who come in droves to the the colony.

This is how it happened every where Ijaws occupied the coastline.

The Yorubas nipped it at pirate stage in Lagos and stopped it at expansion stage in Ondo.

Gabonese territorial tribes understand the game well too.

The Akwaibom tribes seem to not understand this game as well, because Ijaw presence has been on the rise in Ibeno and Eastern Obolo in the past decades. It's a ticking time bomb.
