I had wanted to slam Bisi Alimi as ''noisy, meaningless and toxic" but the truth in his damning statement is keeping me tongue-tied.

Interestingly, Grammy awards and nominations are hugging these ''noisy, meaningless and toxic" songs.

Well, what do I know.
Me too. Most times when people hail WizKid and co, I just keep quiet, so I won't be regarded as "bad belle". And not just Nigerian music, even those coming from US, most of them are shitty.

80% of Nigerian music are noisy meaningless and toxic.

Few out of the 80% won and also got grammy nominations.
The western world dance and vibe to the 80%

There's truth in what he said but it seems Nigerians appreciate things that seem meaningless
So you either join them or stay your lane
you nail it, it's because, average Nigerian are very crazy, so if you sing meaningful song, you won't sell, is either you dey your lane or you join them

You don't get it. The Grammy given to Burna was under the Music of the World category.

The way you think is like someone with cellotapes on the brain.

Fyi, which international recognition Nigerian music has? You think people listen to wizkid and davido in the west? grin

The only time, most people hear about them is in the grammy in one stupid category

People do listen to Wizkid and Davido in the west actually but there's no doubt, music is mostly cacophony these days.

Is this guy now trans?? It’s be noticed gay men like to behave feminine

It’s like there’s a very thin blurry line btw gay and transgender ....

Both are technically attracted to the same sex... it’s just transgenders adjust their outward anatomy so that they fit into a pseudo heterosexual spectrum

Woundedlamb...am I seeing this wrongly??

The only reasonable artistes I know are Johnny Drille, Adekunle, Chike, Simi, and that dude wey sing Thunder Fire You.

Others sing trash.

Yemi Alade go just dey shout.
Zlatan has potentials in bus-stops.
Naira Marley is a special kind of tout.
Wizkid sings trash.
Davido ...another trash.
Burna...another trash with one tune.

No meaningful lyrics. Trash upon trash. You cannot even sing a song again close to kids!

You are not great.

Music is not just about about sad lyrics like the Western music.

You know what I love about Nigerian Music, it has a way to lift you up, and it comes with this magical sense of happiness attached to it. Unlike the west music that is always depressing, and sad.

Burna boy has great lyrics. Wizkid Blessed is one of my overall all time best song.

You don’t have to a$s lick the West all the time… you don’t have to always want to be like them, remove that slavery mentality.

Afrobeat is the best.

But truth be told, when it comes to lyrics, Nigeria musicians lack it, except Burna Boy

Eg

Girl, I'm in love with your booty bounce
Girl, I'm in love with your booty bounce
In love with your booty bounce
Girl, I'm in love with your booty bounce

Huh, when I weigh the thing
E weigh one thousand pounds
Girl, this night
we dey go like seven rounds
Baby girl, say you fine (you fine)
Baby girl, say you fine
You I desire (desire)
Baby, na you I desire
Your yansh original
No be that kind Blac Chyna

Worse; repetitive lyrics. Like singer who does not know what else to say in the song.

I have to disagree with you on the part of people listening to Wizkid in the west.
You can hardly listen to any RnB radio station in the US especially in the major cities and not hear the likes of Wizkid and Davido.
Even if you go to any major club in Atlanta, I can guarantee you that they will play at least one Wizkid before the end of the night.
Even many people who are not Nigerians are even listening to these music to my own surprise.

There are lots of rubbish music coming from Nigeria but there are some good ones too.
