OP didn't kill it because they hardly kill gaboon vipers in Abia State.
My momsy is from Ụmụahia and she says when they see the snake at the farm they'll use a long stick to pick it up and throw it to another area and continue their farm work. The snake is very placid and usually won't even bite if picked up
