My GSD used to do same and it was really annoying cos he can't help detect danger or wade off unexpected visitors. Then came Mt younger brother visiting me and when he noticed that, he gave him SK one night to smoke and chew and that was the end of his playful attitude. He literally barked the whole of that might and from there hence forth once u knock on my gate, u might not want to enter the compound again after hearing his bark.

If you see the kind of pains that dog passed through cos of that sk, SK, alcohol and co don't have same effect on animals like they do to humans, the effect it has is like a very strong uncomfortable pain and it is an animal cruelty for sure.

Get a trainer for him if you're that bothered
