JaroMan:Even with lower budget? You answered your own questions.. And yet you are still looking for how to rubbish the report? Anambra has a budget 2 to 3 times lower than many states.. And yet that is not enough reason for you to see why? OK oh.. We are waiting for your own report.. 5 Likes |

JaroMan:There is no relationship between VAT and IGR. IGR is fund realised by the various states which is owned by them while VAT is a federal tax paid for goods and services but collected within the territory of a state. South-east is doing very well in IGR but need to attract much investment to increase her VAT. |

kenbee:This has nothing to do with Peter Obi! Anambra has always been a rich state even before Obi became the governor. Apart from having the biggest market in Africa in Onitsha, the state has the third largest auto parts market in the world in Nnewi. The biggest drug market in West Africa also in Onitsha, and so many other big markets scattered all over Onitsha, Obosi, Oba, Ogidi, Nkpor, Ogbunike etc, and u can imagine the revenues generated from these markets. 4 Likes |

Maxymilliano: Not necessarily correct. Sure, we definitely need true federalism. But you still need competent leadership which is obviously lacking in Niger Delta (as well as other regions of the country). Note that 4 four States are able to fund their budgets even under this unitary system ( including Anambra State that is not oil producing, yet). |

iyke2frankeze:Two factors that majorly influence tax are population and industrialization. If state A has more VAT return to FG than state B, it simply implies that state A is either more industrialized than state B or more populated or both. Now if the state is more industrialized, then it will have more IGR. This is my basic understanding. I maybe wrong. Because, Lagos and Rivers have always maintained high IGR and high VAT(industries and population). Same with Ogun(industries), Kano(population), Kaduna and Oyo states. But the question now is: why can't they fund their budgets? 1 Like |

JaroMan:Why do you keep asking stupid questions? Those states cannot fund their budget simply because their proposed expenditures far exceeds their revenue, they are over working themselves, that does'nt change the facts that they are doing averagely well in igr and vat collection, the problem is their humoungous expenditure. 1 Like |

Good let Nigeria stop putting money in the same pocket and then share, that's stealing and thieves don't tell the truth. The entire Igboland contribute 1.5% while Yoruba contribute 49% to Nigeria treasury. So let's start from there. Why can't every region just keep what it generates and pay a percentage to the center if this chart is real? Yoruba pay Anambra state govt and Obi of Onitsha's salaries all the way to your civil servants. The Fg takes all Yoruba money to Abuja to share to empty regions and still asking Yoruba to take care of the same people fleeing their region. You are all in one giant illusion if you still don't know that Yorubaland is the one funding Nigeria. Guyman02: |
Re: As 30 States Propose N8 Trillion, Only Lagos, Rivers, Anambra Can Fund Budget by Kinematics: 2:45pm On Dec 12, 2021 |
clothingonline: Yes things have changed since 2018. The reason why Akwa Ibom and Delta can't fund their budgets is because what they budgeted is beyond what they receive currently both in allocation and IGR. Though they are still among the few states that can do very well without monthly handouts from FG. That's if the FG stops taking what does not belong to it. |
