That Alagoa wrote a very very poor book on Bonny history that was riddled with poorly verifiable accounts. The academic of Swansea university was very pissed to see the content after having high hopes.

Is that what you got from it?

I am a writer and I know about negative reviews, that is just a review.
Lol, even the mighty Jk rowling of Harry Potter, E.L James of fifty shades of grey, Steven king himself and all other published writers from time to time get negative reviews from "mare readers"
I laughed hard when I saw your circus celebrating a negative review from Jstor.
This shows you all are the dumbest people I have ever come across (I swear I'm not joking)

Alabo the strawman. Incase you dont know what a strawman is, it is a form of argument having the impression of refuting an argument, whereas the real subject of the argument was not addressed or refuted, but instead replaced with a false one.

Brother, this is not just a review, it was a special notice academically sponsored, Cambridge published and University of Swansea backed rejection of a fraud.

The book was about Bonny, which at that time became a tool for propaganda rather than true academic work.

Going through its one by one

1. University of Swansea and Cambridge University thought this was a roadside and hungry beer parlour historians that wrote the history about Bonny.

This is a very disappointing little book. On picking it up I thought that
Ibadan University Press had taken the enterprising step of publishing a history
of one of the most important Niger delta towns, written by a local historian who
had not been trained at a University.

2. Here, it states that Algoa falsified the original manuscript and history with his own fantasies.

I hoped and assumed that Dr Alagoa's
contribution would be restricted to scholarly annotation, and perhaps a separate
comment. But instead, Mr Fombo's manuscript, originally acquired by Professor
Anene in I963 and now in the Africana Collection of the University of Ibadan,
has been completely submerged by Dr Alagoa's new text.

3. Alagoa being a fraud again rewriting history and replacing academic history with his own falsification. A serious academic crime
What is worse is that
the new text is neither very scholarly nor very interesting. As the title suggests,
it is a chronicle, and a bare one. There is virtually no attempt at interpretation
at all, just a sequence of kings and events.

4. Alagoa failed to use references (Biggest academic sin) and decided not to use original history

The references which are made are mostly to secondary sources, and almost completely ignore the main source for
the Niger coast, F.O. 84 (Slave Trade).
There are no references given for the photographs, a characteristic regrettably common in Nigerian histories. Thus
this book does little but reveal the need for a proper history of Bonny, a worth-while project for which there is abundant material. In it, this chronicle will deserve a footnote. In the meantime, Ibadan University Press could consider giving us Mr Fombo's original text. Then perhaps they could follow it up with the work of other local historians such as E. N. Amaku of Calabar.

5. In case you don't understand, Alagoa was fraudulently replacing some key people, names and ethnicity with his own. That is what they meant by "bowdlerize".

But let us have the original script intact, before the scholars bowdlerize it out of recognition.

In summary, Bonny's history was fraudulently rewritten by Alagoa. What a shame! They called him a roadside historian while committing academic sin.

When you suddenly wake up one day and realized your ancestors/ethnic group/ tribe has not achieved any tangible thing of pride through the course of history , that could incur a humiliating and haunting feeling.

Take a very good look at the murky history of Ijaw origin; not a single reputable city they could call their own , their language is not well defined and classified to corroborate with the Ijaw dialects they are brandishing, the records of their behavioral traits leaves much to be desired--- they were defined as criminals who lived entirely on their wooden canoes and has penchant for sea piracy , a desperate person like Alagoa will do just about anything to revise that history or erase that history.

It seems you guys have comprehension issues. According to the review, the reviewer expressed disappointment in the fact that the author uses more secondary sources than main sources.
It was just a chronicle as the title implies, which was why Cambridge referred to it as shorter notices.

They was no where, impliedly or expressly that it was called fraudulent. The crux was that Alagoa uses less materials and references.

Ibos are very cunning and fraudulent. They are trying as hard as possible to misinterpret a very simple review by tagging it " fraudulent" which is far off from what was alluded in the review.
Not having enough sources or primary citations does not mean it was fraudulent.

Do you think Ibadan University Press and Cambridge University Press would publish fraudulent materials or anything remotely close.

You're doing a great job in bringing to awareness, years of blatant falsehoods and ridiculous attempts at rewriting history that was championed by one fraudulent ijaw ethnic irredentist. However, we need to take this awareness beyond nairaland. Facebook and Twitter are the two platforms we must take this awareness to so we can capture more audience, particularly the enlightened elites of Opobo and Bonny.

At this point, we already have enough facts and evidences to take up ijaw landgrabbing goons, including their chief instigator, Alagoa.

If alagoa is afraid of coming out in the open to confess why he tried to commit such sacrilege on the aborigines of Opobo and Bonny, then we will have to take the debate to him! Doesn't he have social media accounts? We must confront him now he is still alive!!

Most of these guys daftness is obviously hereditary.

You don't feel insulted that the work of your most distinguished Professor is considered to be the work of an illiterate.

So much that the integrity of a renowned university was put to question.

Another mugu is asking where is the fraudulent act?

I bet there is another word for the act of intentionally altering the original contents of a manuscript handed to him. In an attempt to suit his primordial interest, he doctored it so much it became unrecognizable, that reviewers had to demand for the original manuscript.
