guente02: some lithium bms don't like being in series, and some manufacturers strongly warn against this. 2ndly, the balancer he installed may not be able to do much, as balancers work best at cell level, not pack level. 3rdly, I would recommend, you find a way of individually charging both packs full...to 95% to 100%....then reconnecting them back . any idea of what bms is inside the pack?.. can you communicate with the bms to see cell level status/information about individual cells 1 Like |

some lithium BMS don't like being in series, and some manufacturers strongly warn against this.Yeah, the manual suggests so but also contradicts itself about it at the same time. 3rdly, I would recommend, you find a way of individually charging both packs full...to 95% to 100%....then reconnecting them back.I'll try this out. any idea of what BMS is inside the pack?.. can you communicate with the BMS to see cell level status/information about individual cellsNo idea whatsoever and there is no external connectivity to the BMS, a letdown for a 360k battery. |

I do not know that such an unholy mix of panels in parallel is kosher but you will affirm it works for you so I guess that ends the matter. 380w in 7s config + 280w in 9s config running together in parallel - I am fairly sure that is not the operating mode the panel manufacturers and high VoC designer had in mind ojeysky: 1 Like |

If OP can charge the 2 packs separately with a 24v charger things may work. After getting the 2 batteries to thesame SoC, you will need to lower your max charge voltage so the battery with higher voltage does not run into error and raise your LVD so that the lower voltage battery is not overdrained. All these if your inverter has flexible config. Best bet long term is to switch to a 24v inverter or buy 2 units 24v smart chargers so that each battery pack can charge to full as/at 24v - in this scenario you set the 48v inverter max charge voltage at a level below what the 24v chargers will be doing so that the chargers finish the charge process and not the inverter. All in all this is a case of subpar design from the get-go. I wish the OP luck sorting this one out. For BMSs to work well in series, they will need comms between them. earthrealm: |

oliyeniun:false at the bolded. the best u can get is 2yrs,though depending on usage, it can last up to 4 or 5yrs. thats a mid range CC. if u are looking for something slightly better, go for fangupsun or epever 3 Likes |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Hehehe.... well when there is a situation one has to make do.... getting the cumulative Voc of each string to be close to one another was the major task and 7s9s formation was the best work around. 2 Likes |

What about the string current? A parallel connection forces the 2 series strings to operate at thesame string voltage - any way I look at it one of the 2 strings has to be performing below nameplate current - likely to be the larger 380w panels running below their rated current. ojeysky: 1 Like |

Valto: Chai! I got two 350W panels some weeks ago. Both connected in parallel and are still unable to charge my 12v 200ah mopower battery full in a day. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by omotoda(m): 6:05pm On Dec 16, 2021 |
mustaphagreens: 350 watts panel will be 24volts.It won't charge your battery if what you have is pwm charge controller. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Dam5reey(m): 6:08pm On Dec 16, 2021 |
mustaphagreens: So many factors can contribute to this, Is your batteries taking full AMPs from the panel, Is your panel Optimized for Best harvest, do you use while Charging, is your controller efficient enough, etc.. you might have Good Panel but consider other factors too 1 Like |

omotoda: It's a 40A MPPT charge controller. The input voltage often reads 28 - 31 volts, output is 12 - 13 volts depending on the charge level of my battery. The set up has never charged my battery full ever since it was installed. Is there a way to check the current produced by the panels? See attached photos

Dam5reey: Only my phone and pc are always plugged in while the battery is charging. Max voltage I have gotten is 13v (while on charge), my battery should read 14.4v (I only get this with gen or NEPA) when fully charged. As for the panel orientation I don't know much about it o. How can I check the current produced by the panels?

mustaphagreens: This your Controller self, A 12V batteries don't charge at 12V why is yours showing 12V Ensure the Controller is charging at recommended voltage for your Tubular batteries |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 6:32pm On Dec 16, 2021 |
mustaphagreens:i stand to be corrected. this is a fake mppt. try buy a real mppt Cc as the pwm cc u are using is not good enough for your system. 1 Like |

Valto: Looks like it, I suspected the Controller too.. PWM in disguise.. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GeorgeD1(m): 6:39pm On Dec 16, 2021 |
mustaphagreens: your 12v 200ah will have a total of 1,920 watthours if you deplete your battery to 80% dod. your solar panels have a combined output of 700w at 24v. on a good sunny day with a well installed system, you should have a full battery under 4 hrs. 1 Like |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 6:40pm On Dec 16, 2021 |
Did you adjust the settings on the CC to your battery type? Even if it's PWM two 350W panels would charge the 12v fully. I've a setup with 2 200W panels (24v) and a 12V 200A battery with a PWM and it's full everyday before noon (this dry season) thouh it hardly gets discharged far. If it's a PWM it would draw the roughly 30 volts from the panel down to 13/12v which would mean the panels operating at about 50% capacity (from my observation). Upgrading your inverter and battery to 24v to match the panels would work best for PWM systems. mustaphagreens: |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 7:05pm On Dec 16, 2021 |
mustaphagreens: I'm just assuming it's PWM, Chinese have a habit of branding pwm as mppt (and hiding the fact that it's PWM deep somewhere) |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 7:09pm On Dec 16, 2021 |
mustaphagreens:it might not be totally down to the cc, your settings might be wrong too. however if you have to opportunity to return it and get a real mppt pls do. as for good brands. fangupsun, epever, even powermr is good enough. how much did u buy this clone 1 Like |
