When we did rote learning - we were a top of Africa. So we reformed because we wanted to - not because we had to. It's more work - and poor South Africa who were already doing badly in old system gave up and went back to old ways. KENYA WILL SUCEED. We adopted CBC because it works - and is the future Competency-based learning or competency-based education is a framework for teaching and assessment of learning. It is also described as a type of education based on predetermined "competencies," which focuses on outcomes and real-world performance.[1] Competency-based learning is sometimes presented as an alternative to traditional methods of assessment in education.[2] Many countries such as Finland, Germany, South Africa, the Netherlands and Norway have developed their own competency framework which acknowledges the needs of the local populace for the training programmes within the context of their competency definitions. samorobo: |

Mkenya2019:forget examination grading, Post university projects, innovations, thesis. Stuffs that give Africans hope. Not some Yeye arguments on road and sky scrappers built by your Chinese Lord's. We need things built by Africans. Your country men were celebrating, Chinese companies building muddy and dirty roads in Kenya. It's high time you gave Kenyan companies opportunities to build your roads and houses, But how will you pay them, when the Chinese build your roads on credit. Yeye people 2 Likes |

The colour of the cat doesn't matter as long as it catches the mice...Deng Xiaop - China. (DAYS WHEN CHINA WAS FACING SIMILAR BARRIAGE THAT US COMPANIES WERE MAIN ACTORS IN CHINESE ECONOMY) It would be nice if the cat was a kenyan...but our primary concern is catching the mice. Chinese bring 10 engineers...and employ 1000 kenyans. They dont bring steel or cement or other suppliers..they buy it locally. They deliver on time, cost and quality. THAT IS VERY important. They make a small profit. Any country in africa or abroad not taking advantage of China opportunities now is crazy. Chinese have an incredible construction machinery that Africa need to tap into...learn from it...and eventually replicate it. It wont happen soon..Chinese learnt and understudied the Americans...who were making huge investment in factories and all. IGpro1: 1 Like |

Kenya is not a zoo that is on auto-pilot. We take tough decisions and constantly reform our institutions. Although we already have very good education -by african standards - we are not satisfied. In 2014 we started building TVET colleges - and by 2015 - we were ready to fix the education systems - that had become university focused with 80 percent of graduates in liberal arts and humanities - while job market could only absorb 10 percent at best annually. How did we switch the country - we have done it by making secondary exams very tough for those wishing to join universities - leaving them no option except go to vocational and technical colleges. Apart from nearly 3,000 TVET colleges that existed - we are about done building 300 of them - each in every constituency - that can enroll 1,500 to 2,000 kids. Nearly all kenyan universities are now in the red now- the student population has dried up - and they have to make painful re-adjustment but TVET is booming. The future that we are showing you is an holistic basic education system that shifts away from exams toward identifying the competence of the kids- with many of them guided to vocational training - as early as possible - and very few going to universities hopefully to pursue STEM courses. This is how to train your workforce for industrialization - not to become another Nigeria or India or Philippines - who train labour force for export market at best - and at worse condemn millions to futile search for white collar jobs that simply do not exist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qo5aVbquj8 And unlike South Africa who changed their education to CBC - and failed 12yrs later as their lazy teachers revolted due to amount of work needed - Kenya has solid foundation. https://medium.com/edwell/how-kenya-became-the-strongest-education-system-in-africa-70cdc72024c4 2017, the World Economic Forum rated Kenya’s education system as the strongest on the African continent. In 2018, the World Bank ranked Kenya the top African country for education outcomes (1st out of 43 mainland countries). In 2019, a Kenyan was named the most outstanding teacher in the world and awarded a prestigious $1 million prize. A 2017 report said that “South African Grade 6 schoolchildren [were] on average about a year’s learning behind Kenya”. This was according to results from the 2011 Southern and Eastern Africa Consortium for Monitoring Educational Quality (SACMEQ) assessment. samorobo: 2 Likes |

I know you're a Zoogerian who thrive in mediocrity and silly putdowns. Just for the fun of it. Let check 2020 HCI Report for a break Did you know that Kenya's HCI is the 2nd HIGHEST IN AFRICA at 0.56? Mauritius leads at 0.64. Nigeria has one of the lowest HCIs in the world at just 0.33 (same as Angola). obaaderemi: 2 Likes

The nurses that couldn't pass an ordinary literacy test were also deliberately failed. 90% of your students fail routinely year after year and a lunatic put it down to deliberate government plans. Maybe another little Indian has to take over from this silly tit. He has lost it. Who wouldn't with all the pummeling left and right. Just a political minister sticking his foot in his mouth. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/national/article/2001428541/puzzle-over-failed-kenyan-nurses-tests There is confusion over Cabinet Secretary health Mutahi Kagwe's statement that Kenyan nurses massively failed English proficiency tests administered ahead of taking up jobs in the UK. This after it emerged that the ministry of labour is not aware of any tests done so far despite it being in charge of the process which was initiated by a bilateral deal between Kenya and UK governments. Top ministry of labour officials told The Standard that they were taken aback by the revelation of Kagwe, and hoped that he was either misquoted or misunderstood. obaaderemi: |

It easy to defend facts..which is why I always have fun here. This Labour Minister. https://www.the-star.co.ke/counties/2021-11-07-cs-chelugui-unaware-of-nurses-english-test-results/ No exam had been done. What Health CS called failure - was that 10 nurses submitted IELTS exam certificate - having done it previously - the rest had NOT. They did NOT FAIL. Exams were to be taken this moth. obaaderemi: 1 Like |

What is there to copy from Nigerian. We would love to copy it . Of course we cannot copy school system run on Almajiri system with world highest number of kids out of school. You're worse than a country in war. Teething problems on implementation of CBC is expected. CBC has been implemented by China - I guess that is also the West. Kenya has without any doubt Africa best education system. That is why we have Africa largest non mineral economy. That is why we build skyscrappers using nothing but our brains (CHINA loans ) obaaderemi: |

Nigeria and Education The entire North Nigeria run on Almajiri System of Education. Almajiri system of education being a traditional and non-formal system of education which derived its curriculum from the Holy Qu'ran and subjects its learners or pupils to roam about the streets begging for alms, food, and render menial labour to the teachers known as Mallams as a means of survival, is found majorly in NIGERIA You can never tell Kenya anything. We already had the best education system in Africa - and we just shifted GEARS. We are implementing world class education systems that has transformed Singapores, Chinas, Finlands and the Germans into world leaders. 1 Like

As Nigeria the Zoo alternate btw Almajiri (School of begging) and Boko haram (No school going) - Kenya is far ahead. The only country that in near future will compete with Kenya is Rwanda - they are doing well though french-english language switch is confusing the kids and the teachers. We already electrified all primary schools, delivered 1.2 million tablets, each school has two laptops, internet modems, and display systems. Each secondary schools has computer labs and some even have fiber connection. When it comes to CBC - all teachers are being re-trained - in universities so they understand what CBC really is about - learner (Not a teacher) led learning process.

Hydro is great and cheap but drought and global warming means you're always in trouble. In kenya we did our last hydro in 2003. Previously we had our first and I think only electricity rationing in 1999-2001 following a drought - we brought in thermal generators - but long term we shifted to Geothermal. Now we are one world leaders in Geothermal energy. Geothermal has no weather fragrancies because the earth crust is always boiling hot...and you need very little water to generate steams to turn the turbines. Clean renewable energy that is very good base load. SUFFERInSMILIIN:

Stubborn Facts. I really pity South Africa. I can understand the Zoo is helpless - the entire Northern Nigeria is on the race to the bottom - the South is better - but why is South Africa doing this baaaaaad. It seem they are unable to fix their terrible education....now a South Africa kid born today will only achieve 42 percent of his or her full human potential if they completed education and were healthy. #1 Singapore, 88% #2 Hong Kong, SAR, 81% #3 Macao SAR, 80% #4 Japan #5 Sweden #6 Korea, Rep #7 Canada #8 Finland #9 Netherlands #10 Ireland ... #94 Kenya, 55% #115 Egypt, 59% #131 Ghana, 45% #135 South Africa, 43% #167 Nigeria, 36% 1 Like
