I had change my Toyota Camry 1999 model Condenser, Evaporator, compressor change. After just a week it stop cooling, the AC light on the dashboard was blinking, I initially thought it the thermostat which I change. We later discovered the hose attach to the compressor has peeled into the compressor. I had to get another compressor and change one of the hose. Within just 48 hours of usage the AC light started blinking again, I didn't even notice it in time. I took it to another AC technician he said the AC system has carried virus. I called AC man that installed it and he said I would have to get another Compressor again that he'll flush out the system. Someone else advised me to sell my car that the ac system has expired. I'm really sonsad right now I had spent alot on this car Ac, I don't even have money to buy another car for now. Please house what can I do ?

Bro I feel your pain. First of all, car ac (especially factory fitted) do not expire, at least no auto maker has ever mentioned such, and car users in saner climes have never laid such complain as "expired car ac". However, unlike other systems in the car, the details of the ac system needs to be meticulously put in place, else the system will continue to fail.

Tokumbo parts don't usually give a reliable fix when it comes to ac systems, unfortunately this is the only option you have around. Another thing I know for sure is: you may visit all the ac technicians in your area (or in the whole of Nigeria) and still be dealing with lazy quacks.

Most techicans in Nigeria are too rough and careless for the kind of meticulous service needed to fix car ac.

My advice, stop wasting your money trying to fix the ac if you cannot get anyone (a car user) who will confirm good work by the techicans you plan to visit next.

What a sad thing..

Naso one eediot electrician told me my Compressor is "hooked" and I need to another one for 30k. I was like wtf?!
So, I took the car back to my workplace for our able technician.
He checked and later told me to change a Valve, the valve cost N5000, he flushed the system and voila..
The AC is still cooling after 2 years!


Most of those so called AC men are pure rip-off.
My Car is Accord DC and I'm a Dangote Staff.

I had similar experience back then and after changing four compressors and the connecting hose more than twice in the hands of those quack ac technicians, I later met a boy who took his time and loose the dashboard and traced the leak to the connecting point joining the interior condenser under the dashboard to the pipe connecting the compressor at the engine bay.

I mean there is a point in btw the interior and the engine bay that is separated by that metal plate. at that place, the the ac pipe from the compressor joined with the condenser under the dashboard. THAT SIDE IS VERY DELICATE AND EVEN WHN THEY KNOW THAT THE LEAK IS FROM THERE, THEY WILL STILL AVOID TOUCHING IT BC IT ALWAYS GIVE THEM TOUGH TIME FIXING IT.

that boy took his time and detected the leak and after enough time on it, he was able to change the linkage joints and pipes, he then took his time and clean the air filter, the blowout tunnel and did general servicing of everything AC under the dashboard. After that work, my car became a cold room - like even in the hot afternoon and i wind down to talk to somebody, the chill from the car will hit the person on the face and the person will be like "Jesus! oga this car cold pass freezer!".

I spent not less than 270k on that AC without success. and with that boy I spent only 40k to do a good job - I dashed him 5k on top of the 10k workmanship he charged me.

Thanks for your contribution bi really do appreciate, the issue right now is the system is corrupted again, when ever they press done one of the valve on the pipe it bring out black thick dirt, can leakage as you explained cause this. Rewire knows what to do,it's like king means relay switch has parked up,tbey willtap a wire from the relay outlet,under steering to passengers side with 2k thermostat either inside glove compartment or under glove box but it will be wired. I wasted money buying new relay,e o even rol the compressor sef and me sef no get time dey stress myself. Naso I waste 80k for something of 5k. Don't change anything again. Mine started blinking after 5months,changed compressor,bought Condenser,radiator,every,still blinKing, till a rewire did the magic. Nigeria is dead

I support you sir, it's most likely a relay issues, a pipe leak won't cause ac light to blink. And moreso it's a Camry, that's the most indicator to show a faulty relay

to get that ac back, you need a good technician who will change the evaporator, condenser, compressor and either change all the hoses or properly flush them. When done, he will vacuum the system and put green dye refrigerant oil and gas in the system.

That black thick dirt is known as black death. Your ac system needs to be flushed. You need a competent hand to handle it. If in Lagos search for mosbus, here on Nairaland, he comes highly recommend.

My manual compressor stopped rolling today,I'm just praying it has not packed up,or the wire has burnt. Men na to go buy the follow come original 120k auto brand new. I can't take it any longer
