My sis profile is still showing ‘scheduled’ for an appointment she had on 15th December which was denied.

She is trying to book another and can’t get a date. I hope the status update is not a hinderance though?

She should just go to “Update” and update her new visa fee receipt ID. With that, she should be seeing new dates available for her.

For people who had their visa approved, how long did it take until your passport was ready? How long until you were able to pick it up physically and for those who used DHL to deliver their passport, how long did it take until it reached your city? I selected Benin City for DHL delivery but will reconsider if it usually takes time to deliver. Thanks so much for your info.

Yes you show stronger tie to the US than your home country, but this is surmountable. But try as much as possible to put your best foot out first - prove to the VO your genuiness as a student. This can be demonstrated by getting Graduate assistantship / merit scholarships that covers majority or all of your school expenses, getting admission from a top ranked university, pursuing a research based course that has relevance both in your home and foreign country. Etc.

And in your application try to focus very little if not at all on your relatives in the US.

Fall applications have begun for most schools, and priority funding from most schools have December/January 15th as deadline. you may also note that most VOs have a negative bias towards Community colleges. So you might want to consider that too.

I am in a very similar situation and very passionate about schooling in the USA

I just completed my gre and got a score of 318. My GPA is 4.17/5.

How feasible is getting a fully funded admission in computer science from an R1 institution ? I believe that’s good enough to prove my intentions to the V.O

By and large, I pray it isn’t the case but I am afraid they might not be granting any request anytime soon till further notice. First they gave a window of 6 different days in Lagos and Abuja combined dedicated solely for student visa which may mean, you should have applied before time and got interviewed one of the dates otherwise you would have to wait. Second, They have announced on their website that they would be extending expiration of appointment fee till September 2023 for those that didn’t get interviewed ahead of January. Third, they are no longer responding to request they would have normally responded to in just hours. Fourth, due to covid with now this omicron variant, they are not presently operational fully especially in Lago.

Those 4 reasons are worries enough that they may have decided on a limit.

I just pray this is not the case but still, It’s difficult to believe they would eventually give positive responses to all the backlog of requests they have received in less than a month to most resumption dates

You guys are really doing well I really learnt a lot from this platform, which made me to get my friends to interview me before the main day. Honestly before that day I had 10 questions I practiced the answers that was filled with so many big words and all that but honestly the night before I was like u know what, just let it flow and be urself. Check online for the visa status, you should see when the case was created and when it was last updated. You can also track your passport. Just google track my passport us embassy and you’ll see where to fill your passport number

Depends on where it is going but you should have about 300 dollars. Also just register and pay then get your school here in Nigeria to send your transcript to Wes office directly. Yoh would be given a reference number to be written on your envelope by your school to identify it’s yours. You also can’t pay for it in Nigeria.

YES. If you have gotten a date, go for the interview. However, if you are approved, they will not be given the Visa until 3 months to your resumption date.
