It's the way you're saying it confidently. As if you're something.

How are we incapable yet we have the 4th most dynamic city in the world? Just recently, we commissioned the largest shipyard in sub-Saharan Africa, just second to Egypt - with no minerals.

Not long ago, we opened one of the largest ports in the continent - seated in the deepest sea. It will cater to all the landlocked countries within East and Central Africa.

How are we incapable yet we've managed to take care of people living in drought-infested areas? Where, animals and crops die because of a lack of water and food? - we're seated in 70% of arid area - with little to no mineral, but we've managed to control the situation.

Nairobi has now been ranked the best city to live and work in, in Africa. With no minerals, we can at least attest to the fact that Kenya is using the brain to achieve all these.

GTC is of its kind. No complex infrastructure in Africa can come close( save the iconic city in Egypt upon completion). Only developed cities have such iconic infrastructure. A small country with big moves.

The tallest apartment in Africa is now at 19fls, 1fl per week. Most luxurious apartment in Africa, where you can enjoy the tranquility and serene environment both in the NNP(game park, and the entire Nairobi view) - no minerals.

Kenya's economy has increased by 3folds in less than a decade. The projected growth rate as of 2021 is 6.0%, One of the highest in Africa.

A small country, yes. But not incapable. Just get your facts right, reduce emotions & ignorance, argue like a mature intelligent man, and you'll always enjoy the vibe. No one is here to demean your country, no one is here to talk sh"t out your country.

Incapable to take your mining industry to another level, kenyatta can come and beg for help, to develop your mining sector.

Anyway everywhere in the world there's development, some are just chilled about it, some just make noise about every small thing like pavement along the road.

Every country has their own definition of neigberhood. First define neighberhood before you compare apples with oranges. Neigberhood is strange concept in Kenya.

Secondly we understand coming from Soweto that you're excited about white built neighborhood in Joburg suburbs where you mother works as house help but in Kenya we have our neighborhood.

Nairobi metro built up area is radius of 50-60kms - anywhere btw 8,000 to 10,000 SQKM - so Nairobi is not small.

Nairobi city (as per 1963) boundaries is 630km sqkm - radius of about 15kms.

Nairobi will be blessed to have a neighborhood like that, developed and huge

Now you're an expat on Kenya - better than I - my wife home is along that road. Makutano is the middle of that dualing.

According to the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA), the dualling of the busy road will be built in two segments; the first of which will include dualling of a 48km stretch from Kenol through Makutano to Sagana.

It will also feature three new bridges at Saba Saba, Saagana and Rwamuthambi rivers. An interchange will be constructed at Makutano.

The second segment of the project will include the dualling of the 36km stretch from Sagana through Karatina to Marua.

Currently, the dual carriageway from Nairobi ends at Kenol (Murang'a)

Runda is just a glorified slum what you think is beautiful.. how about you guys build it roads. And properly demarcate the place so it doesn't keep giving slum vibes ..

And guess what, That entire neighborhood is better planned and developed than your best like Runda and Karen.

Re-read again what I posted. We dont have the concept of neighborhood. We have estates. If you want the size of say middle-upper class estates then it easy to measure on a map.

Nairobi city has definitely outgrown it's 1963 boundaries - and extend on south all the way to new Konza Technopolis - on West past Limuru town - on the East past Thika to Kenol - and even further on the South West towards Isinya in Kajiado.

That is Nairobi Metro - the green is Nairobi City.

Westlands constituency contains some of the high suburb areas such as Runda, LakeView, Muthaiga, Kitisuru and Highridge, as well as slum areas like Kangemi, Githogoro, DeepSea, Mji Wa Huruma, Kaptagat, Kibagare, Ndumboini, Maasai and others.

Now I check Fourways - Area- Total 2.13 km2 (0.82 sq mi)

From Wikipedia.

The area referred to as Fourways (which is a collection of suburbs, including the traditional suburb of Fourways) is the fastest-developing commercial and residential hub in Sandton, north of Johannesburg, South Africa. The main access routes to Fourways are off the N1 at R511 William Nicol Drive, or alternatively along R564 Witkoppen Road. It is located mostly in Region E of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. It is roughly as far as one can go in the Johannesburg Metropolitan area before it dissolves into rolling hills, game farms and the capital Pretoria, 55 kilometres to the northeast. Hartebeespoort Dam and the Magaliesberg Mountains lie half an hour to the north-west. It is bordered by Bryanston to the east and south and Randburg to the west.

The Fourways area is also home to the Fourways Mall which became the largest shopping centre in Africa post an extensive upgrade.[2] Montecasino, which is a leisure and casino complex, is also located in the Fourways district.

Let me help you further. Nairobi upper middle and upper class estates are concentrated in the map above. Just remove Kawangware and Kangemi slum....in that map.

It stretches almost un-interrupted from Thome in the Nairobi North to Karen estate in Nairobi South - all the areas lies in West of Nairobi City center...this Westy side of Nairobi.

Otherwise it starts from Thome, Garden Estate, Balozi, New Muthaiga, Old Muthaiga, Runda. Old Runda, Kitusuru, Rosylnn, Kyuna,Lower Kabete, highridge, parklands, Westland, Riverside, Chiromo, Kileshwa, Milimani, Kilimani, spring valley, Lavingon all the way to Karen. That is within Nairobi City

Not the Metro.

Nairobi Eastland - is the other half of Nairobi - generally towards the East of the City Center - and this is where lower and middle class kenyans live in. These are areas teeming with town houses and endless apartments.

The slums occupt about 2.5 percent of Nairobi Land mass and 5 percent of the built up area.

Total area roughly 300 SQKM - or half of Nairobi City - is where you will find suburbs that are equivalent to those neigherbhood in the nicer part of Joburg. Generally you will houses - standalone - will retail at a million dollar or if you very lucky 500K usd.

Yes Nairobi was Province/District. During 2010 constitution making - there was tussle on how to devolve power. Eventually it was decided Counties will follow the old districts (1963 - with addition of 4) . As previous government had created many district hapzardly - now we have almost 300 district if not more.

Those old districts then became counties...the 47 counties generally reflect the tribal boundaries of Kenya.

So each tribe generally on their own county - with their own governor. Some big tribes have 3 or more counties...but generally the new counties reflect old pre-colonial tribal borders...with roughly a million people per county.

Nairobi city is roughly 15km radius from the city center - about 650KM SQKM - with two forests and one animal park inclusive.

Nairobi Metropolitan Area was gazetted in 2008 or about - and include most of adjacent counties of Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakos - I think the built up area is roughly 40-60kms - around Nairobi - so roughly 10,000 SQKM.

Nairobi Metro is essentially the bedroom of Nairobi - most people live there but work in Nairobi City. These are mostly new estates built by kenyans who do not want to pay rent in Nairobi.

Below is a county map of Kenya - the bigger the county - the more arid it is - the Somalis have 3 counties in the North East (Mandera, Wajir and Garissa), Turkana their own, Borana/Oromo - Ethiopian cousins - have two counties - of Marsabit and Isiolo. Those are largest counties and very tough places.

Smallest county has to be Mombasa then Nairobi. Least populated with about 150K people is Lamu - only county with majority swahili or mixed african-arab people.
