Yes Nairobi was Province/District. During 2010 constitution making - there was tussle on how to devolve power. Eventually it was decided Counties will follow the old districts (1963 - with addition of 4) . As previous government had created many district hapzardly - now we have almost 300 district if not more.

Those old districts then became counties...the 47 counties generally reflect the tribal boundaries of Kenya.

So each tribe generally on their own county - with their own governor. Some big tribes have 3 or more counties...but generally the new counties reflect old pre-colonial tribal borders...with roughly a million people per county.

Nairobi city is roughly 15km radius from the city center - about 650KM SQKM - with two forests and one animal park inclusive.

Nairobi Metropolitan Area was gazetted in 2008 or about - and include most of adjacent counties of Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakos - I think the built up area is roughly 40-60kms - around Nairobi - so roughly 10,000 SQKM.

Nairobi Metro is essentially the bedroom of Nairobi - most people live there but work in Nairobi City. These are mostly new estates built by kenyans who do not want to pay rent in Nairobi.

Below is a county map of Kenya - the bigger the county - the more arid it is - the Somalis have 3 counties in the North East (Mandera, Wajir and Garissa), Turkana their own, Borana/Oromo - Ethiopian cousins - have two counties - of Marsabit and Isiolo. Those are largest counties and very tough places.

Smallest county has to be Mombasa then Nairobi. Least populated with about 150K people is Lamu - only county with majority swahili or mixed african-arab people.

city, metro, county.

County is like province?

County=South african province = nigerian state = it's our unit of devolved or decentralized gov.

Post 2010 constitution - Kenya has two levels of gov.

National gov - headed by President - HQ in Nairobi - with national assembly and senate

And County gov - including in Nairobi county - headed by Governor with County Assembly (Local Parliament) - and a senator for each county.

Desperate West Africa - Kambiti - use google map - is along Kenol-Makutano-Marua road that is being dualized. That horrific accident happened because both sides of the roads have been dugged out...and stupid driver was overspeeding without any shoulder to escape to leading to head on collision.

Every country has their own definition of neigberhood. First define neighberhood before you compare apples with oranges. Neigberhood is strange concept in Kenya.

Secondly we understand coming from Soweto that you're excited about white built neighborhood in Joburg suburbs where you mother works as house help but in Kenya we have our neighborhood.

Nairobi metro built up area is radius of 50-60kms - anywhere btw 8,000 to 10,000 SQKM - so Nairobi is not small.

Nairobi city (as per 1963) boundaries is 630km sqkm - radius of about 15kms.

Typical Kenyan, when cornered and intimidated you pull the race card. I understand this will always be ur last defense with a SAns.

I'll make an example of Gauteng

National government - Pretoria, Bloemfontein & Capetown

Provincial government - Gauteng provincial legislature

Gauteng- 3 metros - Johannesburg metro, Pretoria metro and Ekuruleni(Germiston+Kempton park+springs) metro

Re-read again what I posted. We dont have the concept of neighborhood. We have estates. If you want the size of say middle-upper class estates then it easy to measure on a map.

Nairobi city has definitely outgrown it's 1963 boundaries - and extend on south all the way to new Konza Technopolis - on West past Limuru town - on the East past Thika to Kenol - and even further on the South West towards Isinya in Kajiado.

That is Nairobi Metro - the green is Nairobi City.

Yes Gauteng is bigger and more developed than Nairobi Metro. Nairobi need a decade plus to reach Gauteng. Nairobi doesnt need much to reach Joburg.

ICT and banking are two areas Nigeria has been doing well for some years now because they're heavily private sector driven. If only government could completely privatise power sector too.

As for Financial Sector - Nigeria has a long way to go - before they rush to expand all over - nearly 40 percent of Nigeria remain without bank accounts - that almost 80M people.

Almost 36% of adults in Africa’s most populous country didn’t have any kind of bank account at the end of 2020, according to EFInA, a U.K.-backed development organization that seeks to bolster inclusive finance in Nigeria. The figure was little changed from two years ago and well above the government’s goal of cutting the proportion of nationals without financial access to 20%, which it set in 2013.

If I post 1 Johannesburg neighborhood per day it will take me two full years to finish, that's 2 full years of developed infrastructure.

You've been posting same buildings everyday, same roads everyday nothing new, I mean kenya has 1 city, SA has 9 fully developed cities and metros.

NAIROBI is building Tatu city and konza
Johannesburg is building Steyn city, waterfall city, lanseria smart city, moderffontein city, goudranD mega city, daggafontein city, John dube cityand 13other cities development.

2: 20

Pretoria is building cullinan city, park city, nellmapuis, menlyn is expanding, mooikloof city etc

I don't have to mention Durban cos it's on another level, Capetown I won't mention it.

Is your brain really functioning? Sorry, but You sound deranged. I don't understand the context of the neighborhood on mining incapability.

I gave you a proper analysis: we don't have minerals, but we've achieved what countries with no minerals have failed to achieve.

Chill, Joburg is not New York. I know Joburg, it's ahead of Nairobi, yes. But also, I know how that city is filled with slums, I just don't want to burst your ego.

Disclaimer.
I'm not picking a debate with SA. But what you said was out of ignorance. That's why no one is giving you likes.
For buildings, Joburg which will take 2yrs to fill this page with buildings has 4 150+fls with zero under construction.
Nairobi... The most demeaned city by this zombie has 4 150+fls with 3 under construction.
