Imo state governor, Hope Uzodimma has likened the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) the ruling political party in Anambra state to a tricycle or Keke Napep saying it will never come close to federal power or winning the presidency for the Igbos.

The governor stated his position in page 70 of his new book ‘Reflections On The Igbo Question’ sighted by DAILY INDEPENDENT.

Stating his reasons for ruling out APGA as a major party that can win the presidency, Uzodimma said APGA is generally viewed as a regional party since its founders labelled it as an Igbo party.

He said “In like manner, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA ) will never come close to federal power. Ever since its leadership found delight in tagging it an Igbo party, it has been confined to the back benches as an ethnic party”.

“The bitter truth here is that tribal or tribe-based political parties are divisible and sectional. As a vehicle to political power, it can only be likened to a tricycle or Keke- NAPEP, which can only take you around within short distances, but not without the scourging heat of the sun in dry season and the messy drench of downpours in rainy season”.

“Join a Keke-NAPEP on a long distant journey through a federal highway and you stand the chance of being knocked down, or out, by a luxury bus, a trailer or a whirlwind. On all scores, you lose. So too will those who want to get national leadership using ethnic based political parties”.

On what the Igbos can do to get the presidency, Uzodimma said they must remain in national political parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC) or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reach out to other members of the party across the country.

“The thing to do is clear; we must remain in National Political Parties and prove our mettle there, by building bridges and reaching out sincerely to other members of the Nigerian family.”

The People that have been with the Presidency for years, what are their benefits?

Are they in any way better than the Igbos?

Anambra has been with APGA for years, aside Lagos and FCT,(No Man's Land), tell me the State doing better than Anambra.

Katsina is with the Presidency....same Katsina is the headquarters of bandits.

We don't need your Presidency.. what we need is a safe and sane environment where we can do our business, excel , buy or build big houses, buy big cars, pepper Umuekwensu and enjoy life to fullest before we meet our Maker.

Gov. Uzodimma is logically and politically right on this. APGA has limitations as vehicle for national presidency.

However, there are many 'heavyweight' Igbo sons and daughters who are already in APC and PDP 'Ferrari cars' on the road to power. So, the fact is that APGA will never be a stumbling block to Igbo presidential candidates if APC and PDP zoned presidential candidacy to South East.

APGA has its national headquarters in Abuja like all other parties,..what makes it an ethnic party? Uzodinma can be so irrational atimes. The same way APC finds it easier to win in Fulani/Hausa states is how APGA feels the SE is a fertile ground for it. The two states APC is controlling in SE today were gotten by dubious means rather than winning on the field the good old voting way.

Rochas and Onu did not form APC

1. ACN, ANPP and CPC formed APC

2. Rochas joined APC

3. Onu was a ANPP man

4. APGA, led by Victor Umeh did not join APC.

5. How was Rochas treated by igbos for joining APC? You people called him okorohausa.

1. ANPP was never an Igbo party, key players in ANPP that joined the merger were adequately compensated and that includes Ahmad Lawan (Senate President) Ogbonnaya Onu (Minister) , George Moghalu (MD NIWA) and even Buni APC CECPCC chairman.


2. I reiterate, Rochas Okorocha joined APC. He didn't go into the APC with any party on the table. All the parties in the merger ceased to exist, except APGA.

Ibos never formed APC, they came with NO structures. Rochas joined as an individual, separate from the party APGA. Hence, CPC had long seized to exist, ACN had long seized to exist, but APGA still has its structures in existence.

Absolutely correct!
Even ipob pigs who always taunted him for joining the reigning winners party are silently in agreement with all his submissions. But the mpkuru nmeri boys would be out for days with abuses targeted at him.

I think Rochas came in with few of his supporters but they have all left after they denied his son in law governorship ticket

Buhari who hates igbos attempted twice to carry two igbos alone to the State house nominating them as his running mates.
May be that could be described as hatred.

Why are Igbo leaders lashing on Igbo for the past one month, there's been embarrassing statements coming from Igbo leaders.

Calling APGA kekenapep is demeaning of party formed by late Ojukwu.
