Emergency Appointment applied to Lagos Dec 4th, was denied on the 15th of dec. Immediately, I filled a new ds-160 choosing Abuja. Then I went back to my old ds-160 to update it.
After updating it, I applied for regular appointment in Abuja and immediately applied for EA on the 17 Dec and request approved today 20 Dec.

SonugaMike:

Please when did you apply to Lagos and when did they respond/deny?

Does it mean I can change my expedited appointment to Abuja?

I have applied to Lagos since 2 Sundays ago and I haven’t heard from them since then. I don’t know how possible it is to switch to Abuja and get approval?

Could you advise or send me a direct contact please?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by ifedayosol(m): 9:39pm On Dec 20, 2021
I did not pay another mrv fee
I think you need to get a response from them b4 you can switch. Except of you will have to cancel the appointment and switch to Abuja but I don't know the implication of cancelling Sha oooo

SonugaMike:
Did you pay another interview fee?

Hope they won’t refuse if they see I have already applied in Lagos?

Congrats!

Is it normal Expedited Appointment (on the portal) or the Surge approach where you had to email documents to Lagos Consular?

Not surge, just regular emergency appointment.

Which bank is selling dollar 410? I used my gtb for transactions and it was 480 per dollar that was deducted. First bank deducted close to 500 per dollar.

Although the rate the person is helping you to pay is high but it may be very hard (you can see an extremely good person that will change at 410 for you) to get the bank rate. Dollar exchange here is between 510-560.

Best of luck

VO.. The golden word… I will be approving ur visa

Tips
1. Be smart when filling your ds160.
2.. Be an active interviewee ... A lot of people got denied while i was waiting for my turn, because they were giving one word answers. Vo will now have to ask many questions just to get one information. No time the vo will just denied them straight.
3... Pray and practice hard
..........what worked for me,,........
1. I prayed mid nights prayers for 3months while I practice
2. I also spoke in American accent all through. After She collected my passport and i20 she didn't looked at me until she approved me. Her face was on the computer while she ask me questions, I was the one staring at her while she types and read somethings on her computer, so I was relax and everything I rehease was just flowing ( all the American movies wey I dey watch pay me Lol) it worked for me, I am not saying everyone must do the same
3. I was audible and confident
4. if u have been denied before, explain what happened briefly and how u think but that was not correct ( check footnote for more info)
Thanks to everyone who helped me, I am very grateful and thank you very much again...

.........Previouly denied.......
People always say us consulars are trained psychologists they will know when you are Lying ..here you too need to be you own psychologist o.. From ur interview u have to deduced why u were denied and then on ds160 you can briefly explain what happened there and why u think that is not true. Make it brief, so u can skip all those formal I was denied under session 214b stuff. After all everyone know say na 214b . so straight to the point with something like " during my interview I was nervous and I couldn't express myself when the consular asked about my bla bla bla or when the consular inquired about this or that I stuttered and gave a one word answer and so I was denied, but actually I was this or but actually I have this ( then start explaining how it is )
...things to note on this part while explaining why u were denied.. 1. Never blame the vo for misunderstanding you... Just see it like it your fault vo thinks you want to japa( I was denied by the Korean guy 1st attempt) 2. Make it short, but make sure the reason you think u were denied and how u think that's not correct is captured.. so to save space don't include the embassy where it happened or date because the current vo have that information.. Why I am saying this is because if its too long vo won't have time to read it all .. It could turn off the vo
3. Don't sound angry or rude
4.. From all the questions you were asked you have to find out at what point vo was not convinced with ur story and decided to denied you.
4. Make sure ur ds160 is very strong
Best of luck to everyone....

Your advice is both good and awful cause I don’t understand what you mean by speaking with an American accent. Your tips are actually good. If you want to give advice to people here, give it but remove your own god complex from your advice just cause you were fortunate.

A lot of people here put in the work, build their confidence and a lot of prayers. You won’t be the one to tell us the V.O. Are not trained psychologist or how they think or anything. You even said it’s actually people’s fault the V.O. thinks they want to Japa, seriously? Are they the ones who create what their profiles look like? The people who met with the Korean V.O in Abuja are at fault cause they’ve never travel before right?

Lemme just stop my talking here cause I don’t understand why people need to feel like they know it all just cause they were in fortunate situations. Give advice with good intents at heart not just to come and gloat. So many people’s future depends on this.

You can defer to fall if you don't get an appointment
Fall semester is around August
