The major problem in a 4-4-2 formation is risking being overun in midfield, those that watched leicester vs chelsea would have observed that without tielemans in that game leicester really struggled in that game as neither ndidi or soumary could control the tempo of the game, until maddison was subbed in...so for us to be effective with that formation we would need a cm who can control the tempo of the game, make tackes and be a good ball progressor.. Presently i dont think any of our cm has that skill set..
I also dont think a mid pairing of ndidi-aribo would be effective in a 4-4-2 formation

My major problem with 4-4-2 is that it pushes wingers into midfielders and it just puts you in a defensive mode automatically

You see players like alhassan Yusuf, Nwakali, ovie Ejaria somewhat have this skill set
and this is why we have been shouting they should be in the team.
skill set and tactics can be more important than where a player plays.
In fact, Akinkunmi Amoo can play both as a winger and an attacking midfielder and so he can just play in the wings
and help out in midfield at the same time.

Lol wetin u expect before?
4-4-2 isnt bad if you have technically sound midfielders, also the overload on the wings is an added advantage, personally i feel its a nice formation if we get a good cm to pair ndidi..
Iheanacho/iwobi as ss
Ejuke and samu on both flanks, oshimen wouldnt be short of supplies

442 is not a formation for modern football.

Guys

Check out Eguavon Analysing the Eagles over time. He appears to be technically sound.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ey5KcdrfvaM
decent football knowledge but not modern enough to me

Made a lot of reference on resurrecting our traditional wing play and expansive football which I hinted on few days ago nothing more nothing less

Was expecting to hear the tactical input that may be required if the opponent thwart our traditional game play but didn’t get any, may be that will be addressed when need be

There is another point he made which I concur and noticed as one of the issues bedeviling the team for some time now, lack of physical imposing players as we use to have before. I know many will argue that it’s irrelevant but in the African scene it’s goes a long way in helping team must especially the least rated teams.like he said physique mixed with technique and speed will be 100%

With what eguavoen said in the video with regards of how he wants his midfielders to play I think iwobi will be a jewel to him because the Everton man doesn’t shy away from getting the ball or making spaces for opening but very good at one touch football and long passes

On the other side ndidi will learn a lot from the coach because I believe from the video that he has few things ndidi needs to add to his game

Also as a coach who loves his full backs up the pitch aina will definetely shine under him

If we play 4-4-2, teams like South Africa or those North African teams will play basic triangles around our players until we chop goals like sardine. If we had like a talent like Scholes or Gerrard who can pass and dictate the game on their own, I won't be too worried.

Nice video. It got a chance to give us a glimpse into Coach Eguavoen's understanding of the game. I wish he went a bit deeper into the tactical side of things but it showed he has a good grasp of the game.

One thing I liked about the video was getting to understand Zonal tactics. I have tried to understand it but Eguavoen did Justice in the video.

One thing we should expect is an improvement in our build up play.

We are going to play in an expansive pattern with our wingers gumming the offensive end.

Eguavoen wants flair and directness. I think he is going to go hard on Ndidi. He will want Ndidi to do more with ball and dictate play.

He might get something off Iwobi. He likes his creative midfielders operating from the deep.

One problem I had with the video is that a lot of the tactics he talked about relies on what the opponents bring to us. Which is we will play responsively.

He also did not talk about if we will press in our play.

Verdict:
I still feel Eguavoen is bringing some old school touch to the team. He believes we already have a strong blueprint and players that can fit into it.

I would prefer a more modern principle approach but Eguavoen has a closer understanding of the team.

Our coming style:
Eguavoen will want us to play a possessive and direct pattern
.

Meaning we will use clever fluid play to break the shape of the opposition and exploit the spaces with speed, technique and intelligence.

I hope we know more from him but it was nice of Eguavoen to reach out to the public with what to expect.

Much respect Sir.

You missed the point I bolded. He said our Nigerian style has always been indirect with a little bit of direct to dissect the opponent depending on their style of play.

In a nutshell, expect him to play a mix of both with the indirect being the dominant pattern.

I pray this new mask doesn't affect his play. I hope Victor doesn't become too careful. Because this is just too early for his career.

I talked about that. Indirect means we will play possessively. However, Eguavoen expects us to always exploit gaps as soon as they are created with direct play.

Elder Icon4s should be fine. He does check in here once in a while.

As for the yearly award , he already said he wouldn't be able to coordinate it for this year that someone else should carry on but nobody showed interest.

Aside of his goal, the pressing is almost like 2 in 1 player… the likes of osimehn, onyeka, ejuke should always be in our line up except for injuries… they’re cheat code. (2 in 1)

I think he might prefer Frank Onyeka style of play based on he’s a good passer of the ball, very confident and also a playmaker. . If he wants his creative midfielders operating from the deep, then the best option he can get is in Nwakali.

442 is not a formation for modern football.
Any formation with d right and perfect players to execute it will certainly change people's perspective about d formation .

The question is, do we have the right players to properly execute d 442 formation n get a consistent result out of it?
Whether it b modern or not won't matter.

You still ended up saying nothing in this your long epistle that’s full of trash

Ko necessary oga kome ,your same old recycled words about hyping epl players who went to other leagues ,the best players in the epl are from other leagues ,just take note ,one of the best strikers in the epl history is aguero from other league who is better than many English striker ,if not all of them

You are very silly for thinking other European teams will pay nacho 20k a week ,I am talking about decent teams that nacho should join you are here talking about teams like Levante ,Sevilla leipzig will afford to pay KC , is Roma not paying Tammy ? Tammy was not even active last season or half the player iheanacho was , but he got a club but you think nacho won’t get a club

No European team will take nacho but European team will take Tammy who was not that active last season ,you are just too delusional

For your information KC is not a Leicester city flop and will never be regarded as one

You cap too much and you know nothing about football.

Tega Abraham has been a consistent, continuous and outstanding Striker and goal scorer from day one since he started playing football.

As a mere teenager he smashed the Championship at Btistol City and was a top goal scorer, he did the same at Aston Villa. In his first full Of Premier League season 2019/20 he scored 15 Goals in the EPL, he was Chelsea top goal scorer. last season he was also Chelsea top goal scorer despite being relegated to the bench for Lesser players, for reasons UNKNOWN.

There is absolutely no comparison of Tega and KC one has been consistently outstanding and the other consistently mediocre.

Tega has gone to Seria A and has continued.

What has KC done over 5 seasons in the EPL with Leicester after 106 games just 22 goals. He had a very good season 2020/21 with 12 goals. After 3 seasons of shambolic impotency, he finally came alive. He deservedly got a lucrative contract extension until 2024.

I said then that the true test will be CONSISTENCY and CONTINUITY in the 2021/22 season if indeed there has been true progression, not just a one season wonder or flash in the pan.

There are 22 games left of the season can he score 10 goals before season end ,that would be outstanding. He has played 10 games and scored 1 goal.

What you practice is bias and double be standard creating a different standard of measurement to suit a Nigerian player.

KC was classed as a big flop by almost be all pundits and media outlets. Has that tag changed ,only time will tell.

You introduced the comparison of Tega Abraham not me. They are on Totally different levels in every department of the game. Below YouTube clip just be to remind you.
