You are very factual and you indirectly argue along my line of reasonings. North would want to vote someone that constitutionally wouldn't exceed 4 years. North would prefer their own foremost. In that case it will take any spoiler region from the south to give the candidate a victory just as West did in 2015. The South East and South South will likely vote along a political line. For sure they won't a candidate from the West.
