It's smoking, the engine oil get burnt off within few weeks, besides, I was told that the gasket is burnt because the water pump is bad which could no longer supply water to the engine. According to them, they can't just change the gasket and the water pump without ringing or changing the engine which is already smoking...

If your gasket is affected, please ensure you check the engine top or bottom to see if it is warped. That condition is enough to proceed to the next level.
Ringing must be done by a specialist with original parts and car driven with condition of not going beyond 2000rpm within the first 500-1000km.

Too much misinformation flying around, it high time we got the right education and information concerning topic of diagnosis/scanner:
1. Scanner is neither for mechanical nor for electrical. It is at manufacturer discretion to give u whatever data they wish to put on the scan data pid eg temperature, speed, ignition timing, battery voltage etc(are these mechanical or electrical parameters )
2. Scanner is just one out of more than 100 dedicated autodiagnostics that has been produced.For a trained professional more than 2 or more diagnostics tools will be needed to conclude a diagnosis session
3.The essence of different diagnosis tools is to complement the limitations of one another. it is just unfortunate our so -called modern mechanic only know of scanner alone
4. Real Diagnosis is is being done with a knowleadgeble and trained human brain , hence diagnosis tool including scanner is merely a data retrieval tool .
so the best scanner in the world in the hand of ill-trained mechanic is as useless as no tool at all .
