So, my question is, is it possible to learn algorithm and data structures without a strong foundation in Maths? I recently download an ebook on algorithm and all I've been seeing, is just calculations all over.

If possible, I'll be happy if someone can reference a material for me to learn the maths needed in ploughing through the algorithm materials I have.

Data structure is one of the building blocks behind computation.
Data structure as the name sound help to structure data in a way to aid communication, protocol, policy and efficient computation.
Algorithms are set of steps use to manipulate(analyze, modify, store, retrieve) data to meet a requirement.

So it is the bed rock behind computational science. meanwhile are you currently doing anything related to computation? like help a business model it's logic into a computer? if yes, learning data structure and algorithms will give a better approach.

LMAO. If you check on my previous thread, I've always wanted to be a computer scientist but life happens and I saw my self in another course entirely.

I asked someone who is a masters student studying computer science if it's possible for me to get accepted into their department, he said he has colleagues who are from different departments (that is, courses not related to computer like economics or architecture).

But he said I'll need to be well grounded in discrete math, and also data structures and algorithms.

I am just kidding. Data structures and algorithms is very important both for your growth as a programmer and to get the insanely well paying high paying jobs. I know people who have skipped shitty jobs and got a first seven figure naira job as their first job because they were well versed in data structures and algorithms.

i'm curious yeah do you think passing a dsa interview means you're gonna be successful in that role? i mean i could cram a binary search tree or hash table. Regurgitate it and 'pass' the interview but does that make me a good developer?

It doesn't but companies are foolish so we all should play to their foolishness. If we complain from today till next year the standard will never ever change. More and more companies sef are adopting DSA interviews sef.
