1. You keep bringing up unrelated issues. Even the man who earns only 20K a month also works hard. That doesn't remove from the fact that what is lives is abject poverty. undecided

2. This isn't about being rich but about earning at least enough to exist above the poverty line, especially in marriage. undecided

3. This thread is about a simple question and a marriage planned on a salary of 50K is poverty. undecided

What can 50k do in this present Nigeria? Just feeding, transportation and bills alone will finish it

Dreamers !!! How many Nigerian has #0.5m+ in bank account statistically ?
Between Private sector and Government, who has more employers ?
How many private employers I mean ( BSC) holders earn more than #50k monthly in Nigeria?
How much is Nigeria minimum wage ?
Are government civil servants not getting married ?
So gatemen in Nigeria don’t marry ?
Life has a way of solving its problem, as long as you keep working .
To the question @op yes , with #50k as salary you can marry in Nigeria now .
But before you embark on having #50k as a salary and thinking of marriage , you’ve to consider this ...
How much is my partner worth , financially and potentially ?
What happens when the #50k salary wasn’t paid or delayed ? There comes agriculture and side hustle
With the inflation in Nigeria , i don’t even advice anybody to date anyone ( male and female ) who can’t come up with at least #30k monthly.
Everybody won’t be rich . All fingers can’t be equal .
I’m broke , that’s why I’m single .

No. Because i as a lady, cannot earn 50k and be thinking of marriage. Whoever can marry with 50k salary should go ahead. We are all not the same. Instead we would work on multiplying our source of income. Raising kids in the best of conditions isn't cheap.

Life is funny. even if you earn above 90k, you will still have a reason not to get married.

Truth b told, 50k can't cover a lot of expenses. Before you rent an apartment, before you get a 12kg cylinder (20k) and other things to set up for a home, you discover even 50,000 in 4 months (200,000k ) can't do much.

Yes... She's entitled to choose or size you up... That's normal, intelligent even... Every living thing chooses a mate that has the most to offer...

You are entitled to choose also...

Your entire comment makes no sense...

First of all, you might be a suffer-head... Don't assume others are too... You might feel content being broke, struggling to feed... You seriously want to start a family this way? undecided

See your child(ren) starve, sent home from school...etc.

It's not rude to be wise enough to know that 50k is not enough for even a family of three...(man, woman and one child)...

You should simply say that you can only marry if the woman earns the same amount too... A combined salary... A total of ₦100k... That's manageable...

But you're being unnecessarily defensive...
You are the one making a senseless comment, and not the person you are accusing.
You are just too stuupid to realize it

A man earning less than 50k has no business with marriage ..

I wont allow my niece, sister, daughter, aunty, cousin near a man earning less than 50k in a month, I wont attend the wedding. I'm not a supporter of poverty
then keep plenty money to support your children to be successful b4 they marry

What an evil woman

All you want to do is eat a man's money and grow fat just because you have pussy in-between your legs

Why not make 100k and wait for a man to marry you then you feed the man and your children

How much the man takes home shouldn't be an issue. 50k is even much.

I got married when my Salary was 25k, after few months my wife got a Job she was earning 145k.

One thing I thank God is my wife is God fearing and respects me alot. That money didn't enter her head.

Few months later I got a pay raise to 180k at my place of Work.

So money shouldn't be an issue

First off, you quoting me with such response showed you do not even understand the topic or my opinion to it.

A simple question, yes, but are the answers so straightforward?

Does your position reflect reality?

Since you know there are poor people married & earning less than 20k pm, what does that tell you?

Anyway, there are no right or wrong answers on a topic as this, so you should learn to respond with more commonsense should you decide to quote someone else.

To marry and have companionship is one thing
To bring series of unfortunate kids into this sticky situation is another.
It's the kids part I actually worry about
Not even the spouse
Husband and wife can be together for 5 years managing themselves with no kids involved
But because Nigerians and Africans are moronic, they expect you and themselves to start popping kids asap

It is not about the salary of the man. It's about being an hustler. Anyone that tells you salary is enough to survive or sustain a family is just deceiving himself. The higher the salary, the higher the expenses.

As a civil servant, that's my take home. I have about 4 different other hustle that bring money. I don't even rely on the salary.

Answers that you chose?

There were poor people before nigeria came into existence & there would be poor people long after it is gone, so what do you plan to do? End poverty in nigeria?

What you call commonsense is nonsensical if it cannot be achieved or is not realistic. When you end poverty in nigeria, maybe your position would make more sense then.
