canadaishome: Bane of the developed world - apart from certain scandi countries. Childcare seems to be expensive everywhere that is not a developing country. So crazy. I now understand why people look forward to children going to school - free childcare during the day |

Thanks Bro the clarification. Greatly appreciated. So in essence you are saying the chances of me getting a construction sponsored job before September is very low right?? Also is it possible for my wife to get a care job in a service home when she arrives. TheGuyFromHR: |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by OSCARTM: 12:04pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
IcecoldDon: You should, if your background in construction is engineering related; such jobs are part of the shortage occupations on Skilled Worker visa list. I will suggest that you start applying from Q1 2022. See link below for further information: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/skilled-worker-visa-shortage-occupations/skilled-worker-visa-shortage-occupations Yes, she will need to register with agencies who recruit for care homes upon arrival. 3 Likes |

Compliments of the Season everyone. Please is there anyone on here who successfully came to the UK as a Sponsored Care Worker? Now that the Uk is looking to make it a thing I’m just wondering if any registration is required (similar to GMC) and which boards/ places it’s best to look to get roles that are sponsored for this field. If you know or have info please share. Thank you. 1 Like 1 Share |

I disagree I’d rather £10/hour up North than £15/hr in South especially london and other expensive cities justwise: 4 Likes |

IcecoldDon: I am on a tier 2 visa. I applied for UK dependent visa for my wife and 3 kids (6,4 and 2) around May this year. Health surcharge for the children was discounted at 25%. The visa fees were the same. 5 Likes |

dubaiprince: Oh really. That's really good to know. On the official website, it wasnt clear at all because it just stated £470 as the blanket rate for the Health surcharge per person. Was that the same amount that was discounted for you at 25%? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Mamatukwas: 5:11pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
DFmum: It’s a bit convoluted. Are their dad’s different? Why give 1 child and deny the other. Are you able to clearly state or post reason for your daughter’s denial? It will help people advice you well. 3 Likes |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by dubaiprince: 5:17pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
IcecoldDon: For tier 2 (not health and care worker visa) the advertised rates are £624 per year for adult and £470 per year for children. In reality, when paying, people pay slightly higher than that due to conversion or how the system is set because the bill is denominated in USD. In my kids case, I paid £1,221 for 2.5 years for each child and £1,621 for 2.5 years for my wife. 5 Likes |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by IcecoldDon: 6:48pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
dubaiprince: Right. Mine is Tier 4 though i.e Student Visa. Maybe that is the reason why the set rates are £470 for everyone and while there was no visible option for discount. Even for PoF it is shown as £680 for 9 months for each person still not stating any discrepancy between adult or infant. What is the safest conversion rates to use for these official payments as i am very sure it cant be black market rate of £1/N750 right? |

DFmum: Won't you be very unsettled with this arrangement... if it was me ,I would be thinking of scrapping the masters and journey all together or deferring until it sorted However u don't even know if the child who was given was given by accident ...however at this point if you proceed then it best to do an admin review for the child who was refused. Admin review takes months so factor that in 2 Likes |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by dubaiprince: 8:05pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
IcecoldDon: Oh I see. Thought you meant Tier 2. Don't know much about Tier 4. The system bills you in USD. It is up to you on the payment method you decide to use. I am not sure there is any cost effective method now since paying through paga (where you get debited in Naira at CBN rate) have been suspended. |

For the funds you need to keep in your account, the ECO uses oanda.com. For others such as visa and ihs payments, you have to source for that yourself. IcecoldDon: 1 Like |
