So you guys should ask Rohr why the foreign borns are not integral in the team. It has nothing to do with Eguavoen. There is simply no time.

Rohr had years with Dessers, Ebuehi and co.

you sure soooooo

The bolded....what do you mean with the statement "it won't be far fetched". Were they not used to replace some original members in the 40 man list for their tactical superiority as acclaimed? So why would the coach place them on the bench?

The first match would determine Eguavoen agenda on the 28 man personnel he chose.

They did not replace any regular player. There are players Rohr has trusted over the years. That was why he even brought back Ighalo. No time to make much changes. So Eguavoen went with the regulars.

If Kelz Nwakali and Ndah ends on the bench, it won't be far fetched. Keep in mind there is little time for thorough preparation and they can come in if the coach wants to make a tactical switch.

For now, Eguavoen made it clear he is working with the team on ground. Therefore, there is a big chance the Rohr regulars will run the show.

However, I am expecting different and seeing Kelz and Ndah breaking in.

picking players for a competition as huge as the afcon should be based on current form and merit

We all know the reason why the duo of musa and shehu is still part of the team but to you is ndah abi Idahs inclusion in the team justifiable?

We all know they are pained heads in the FA who wants the inclusion of their boys in the team no matter how disastrous it may pan out to be just to enrich their resume to attract moves to obscure leagues in Europe and the Arabic world

The national team is meant for the best a nation can boast of at a particular moment and should not be used as a marketing tool nor rehab to revive dead and stagnant careers

What have nwakali done this season to make the afcon list? What about the so called ndah abi idah?

Can you make case for the above mentioned players to justify them replacing players who hv done better in bigger leagues?

Nwakali is there for purely tactical reasons. Do you have a better suggestion of a midfielder that can dictate play from deep with diagonal long passes?

If you can't, you will understand why Eguavoen called him.

pure gang up against foreign brown players

I think them making 40% of the current super eagles set up Dey cause sleepless nights to many both fans and some nff big heads because no right thinking coach or FA will drop in form trio of bassey, akpoguma and dessers

No matter how good the ndah guy is his inclusion to team is not justifiable at all judging by the good form of bassey and akpoguma in top leagues in Europe

Bassey have been a revelation in the heart of rangers defense and as a young player the afcon would hv served as a good learning curve for him which will afford him international football experience as well as serving as an understudy to ekong and balogun

Akpoguma hv been ever present for hoffenheim since returning from injury with good performances week in week out.

Dessers form for Feyenoord is good enough for him to atleast make the bench in the competition proper

I just pray and hope that things really works out for eguavoen based on his decision while picking the team

When does Nigeria picks a south African based player over a Bundesliga one? That is not acceptable..

No serious country will do such a thing. And some peeps here are making these excuses and look the other way.

You are speaking out of speculation.

The point is very simple.

No time for preparation.

So work with the team on ground. That is the regular players over the years.

Olisa and Kelz are strictly tactical inclusion.

Remember Olisa and Kelz Nwakali have trained with Eguavoen and have ideas of his tactical demands.

Seems fair to me. Keep in mind I am a big Ebuehi fan.
you see the problem? Working with eguavoen some time ago shouldn’t be a criteria to bring them in to the team at the expense of better players

This is the problem we have in this country, paddy paddy things is the main reason the country is rotting away on a daily basis

In sports you have to be as good as your last outing if possible better to compete. Form matters a lot and with regards to this claim nwakali doesn’t deserve to even train with the team let alone making the final squad

Rookies are tested in teams preparation to major tournaments only if they perform so well in their respective leagues which is the main reason they are invited for a closer look

To me you saying eguavoen smuggled both to the team because he has worked with them before is lame.

I am patiently waiting for the improvement both will bring to the team. Imagine a nwakali who hv got no assist nor goal in the Spanish 2nd tier touted as a huge improvement to the teams midfield? I pity una

Why will Keshi start a home based Oboabona for a Super Eagles/Premier League long serving Defender Yobo. No serious coach will do that.

You are totally off track. The players are there purely on tactical reasons, not Paddy paddy things. If Eguavoen wants money from players, it is not from Huesca and Orlando Pirates players.

They are there because they know his tactics. If the so called better players don't know his tactics, they are useless to his strategy.

Musa's continous invitation to the NT is nothing short of a travesty, and as much as I appreciate his services to Nigeria, it has to be said that Musa and Ighalo are both very selfish individuals who are benefiting hugely from some political goodwill from top officials they are close to... Because I know deep down, they know they are undeservedly occupying the spots other young, hungry and promising players would have sold a limb to get but just don't get the chance...

I wonder how a player like Dessers would feel knowing that he chose Nigeria over Netherlands, burst his as5 to score goals for Feyenoord, only to have his spot in the NT occupied by done-and-dusted players who offer absolutely nothing to the NT anymore!!

A good chunk of these players were selected based on Nigerian politricks.. There is no justification for leaving out Akpoguma. He deserves to be on the squad. Same goes for the likes of Bassey, Ebuehi, Dessers etc. Is it too much to ask that a Nigerian player be called up based on merit?

God must punish amaju and this stupid Eguaveon.
When Musa was without a club, he was still getting called up to the national team.

Ishaq Kayode with a brilliant goal. Now has 2 away goals to start the season. 4 goals in 3 matches. The boy might be the real deal.

But you do not know this for sure. You write like you know Eguavoen's mind 100%.
So a coach will invite players based on those who know his tactics and not QUALITY again? I thought you always emphasized quality as the primary consideration over any other thing.

Remember when Eguavoen was announced as coach, I said I am most interested in his philosophy.

Fortunately for us he did that video and unlike lots of coaches, we have an idea into his mind.

One thing he talked about was a midfielder dictating play from deep with long balls.

I doubt that anyone here can not guess the player that has this skillset. As soon as he said it, I understood why Kelz Nwakali is important to him.

Then he talked about building from the back with passes. Keep in mind, Rohr has been terrible with this. Over the years we did not work on it.

In that Ndah clip someone posted, I watched his movement during short passes and his decision making during the process. I said to myself, no wonder Eguavoen wants him in camp.

So, it is still my view from what I have studied. I will prefer any opposite view to come with tactical or strategic backing.

Ronaldinho has far more quality on the ball than Roman Riquelme. Pellegrini said he prefers Riquelme over Ronaldinho. Why?

Riquelme suits his tactical plan.

Tactics rules today. If your quality does not meet the tactics, it is no use to the coach.

Lets not act like its only Ndidi that will defend the length of the place pls. Thats why i said we need an Etebo kinda player to balance it out. Nwakali is not that player.

The fact both has more to offer doesn't mean others won't join them against attacking teams like Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, Tunisia.

Bottomline: Nwakali can't play that CM role. I however want him to prove me wrong cos new Revelations do just that.

Else......

You can't be too confident with this assertion. You guys have been raising hell since Nwakali was invited , as if he is coming to mess something enviable which you have built. From whence Rohr was hired and Mikel left the team or lost form our midfield had fallen apart and we could not string 3 passes without losing the ball of pass to defence because of dearth of quality midfielders in the team.

We have tried Ndidi-Etebo combination and it resulted to nothing , Ndidi- Aribo has not worked and the team kept struggling. To add depth , Eguavon invited a player with the capacity to enrich our midfield , but you guys wont stop crying as if you have something better.

I will give you a good example. Joe Hart was a top Premier league keeper but Guardiola dropped him because he was not good with his feet.

The true quality today is what you can offer the coach tactically.

Remember Aguero's problem with Guardiola? It was purely tactical.

Not even a midfielder that can dictate play.

I was even asking of anybody called a midfielder that wasn't invited. But all of them have been blind ignoring my mentions of which midfielder would have been invited instead.

If Nwakali wasn't invited, we would be going to AFCON with just 4 midfielders out of 28 players available for selection.
