Most of you behave like online zombies. Any idiot comes up with a headline and then the rest of you unthinkingly jump on the bandwagon. How do you know for sure that the battery ran out? Do batteries just run out in the middle of nowhere without indicators and warnings? It could well be anothe mechanical or electrical issue that grounded the car. The mileage on a full charge of this car can take you round Lagos even with hours upon hours of heavy traffic. 4 Likes |

siofra: My thoughts exactly. This is due to the driver's negligence as a Tesla on 1 charge can run over 300km. Talk less of a full battery 1 Like |

Kingofhoes: Till you get trapped in 2 hour hold up it's is then you will know that 300kms is just 3 hours of charge ..this dude lives in Ikoyi because I always see him around there and I am sure he stays on a property with 24 hour electricity ...not his fault sometimes Lagos happens to us all..I remember I used to frown at people urinating on the road in traffic till I got stuck in traffic and had no single choice than do the same 1 Like |

People are not even talking about the exponentially high electricity tariff we have in Nigeria. Just charging this cars in Nigeria can make one to break the bank. Nigeria is not yet ready for this. Maybe when electricity remains stable and the tariifs become more affordable then we can talk about electric cars. For now I think hybrid cars are still better. |

Eriokanmi: The elites are damn greedy... thinking of self only. Them they use the people dey catch cruise. Living abroad helps one understand what infrastructure decay we have. Seoul has an underground rail network that lets you travel underground for hours and not see day light till you get to your destination. Would it be nice to have a massive ferry moving workers from Ojo / mile2 to island every morning and evening rather than the limited shuttles on laswa. Then compliment this initiative with the light rail... wonderful scheme! 3 Likes 1 Share

seguno2: It is a fact that traffic can build up unexpectedly. Anybody that have lived in Lagos should know this. If you are driving an electric car or a Petro car you should have put this into consideration. Even for a Petro car you should have enough fuel You should blame the guy driving the car for not taking this factors into consideration. Nigeria have no plan for electric car. Nigeria can not be a failed Nation because of the careless of the owner of an electric car. Where have you travel to. It happens even in countries that use electric cars but have made provision for it. Nigeria could be a "failed Nation" (according to you )but not for the careless of the owner of the electric car |

FarahAideed: But I just do not get this. If you were trapped in a 10 year traffic jam driving an ICE, won't you do energy management to ensure you get out of there. Will you sit down and keep running your engine. Traffic is no excuse if not the highway will be littered with spent vehicles. Folks just turn their engines off and wait for movement. The beauty of electric engines is that energy management is far more efficient than with ICE's and this should equalise the experience in the long term. Why do you think modern ICE's have adopted auto start/stop technologies. His experience all boils down to human error. To run out of anything has nothing to do with technology. |
