Base on report coming out of Watford it was Emmanuel Dennis himself that opt out of the super eagles squad for afcon. He want to start every game at afcon but Austin Egwoavon refuse and said he must fight for a place in the starting eleven

If that is what he demanded, then it's better he stays with Watford but if Nigeria qualifies for World Cup and he is not selected, then he has himself to blame. I think Dennis is arrogant. He should just stay away

cheesy I'm sure he will. Last last, even if it was him who declined, if he wants to come back, just a little "dobale" will do as long as his form is maintained.

If it was a gentleman agreement between the two, why did the NFF say the club was "baring fangs". Abi na me no understand English ni?
I don't know, but these things do not happen at once. They can happen over a period. We don't know how it started or how it ended. My point is we should not just blacklist a player because CAF, FIFA, European clubs and our NFF president are all fighting for each of their own benefit and the player is caught in the middle.

Dennis is absolutely right to seek Clarification for his imminent Role at AFCON. He's in top Form and likely to get a Deal from any of top 6 Clubs in EPL if he maintains his form till end of Season.

Are you Guys kidding? He should leave Watford simply to be munching cooked Corns on the Bench? Let's set aside Emotions, check the Number of Attackers on the List and tell me we gonna miss Dennis' absence?!

Dennis makes a good call. I believe NFF clearly understands him and actually supports his Decision.
Let me respond to just the bolded. He has no right to seek such clarification. It is the height of disrespect to the GWG and insult to our sensibilities. It is a recipe for disaster. No matter how good your form, you cannot seek such clarification from your NT coach. Not even Messi or Ronaldo can make such a call. No matter who a player is, the greatest honor your country can extend to you is to invite you. If you want to accept, you accept. If you do not want to accept, just decline. When you accept, you come fight for your place, you sweat it out and stake a claim for yourself. Even if you are not in the first 11, so long as you are part of the team, you give all your effort and energy towards the success of the team.

Assuming he calls Eguavoen and says Heyy coach, you see how hot my form for watford is? Well I can only honor that invite if you assure me that I will have sufficient game time. Eguavoen now says ohhh yes, please come, you will surely have sufficient game time.

How do you think the other players will feel? Rancor, bitterness, animosity and division will spread through the camp because as human beings we recognize this kind of action for what it is: favoritism.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not saying that Denis should not decline. He has a right to decline. He even would be justified to say that he wants to stay back and help his club. However it is totally unacceptable if he declines on the basis that he wants an assurance that he'd be given a starting place. Such an attitude should not be tolerated at all.

I am not surprised with what I'm seeing here. A lot of people never liked Dennis, right from the beginning. The assumptions about his attitude contributed to this.

Dennis never rejected a call up. He even celebrated it on his social media account but due to the ideas people already have about him in their minds, they'd rather believe otherwise.

If you want to kill a dog, give it a bad name, especially when you feel intimidated by that dog. Especially when that dog seems uncontrollable.

But you know one thing about Dennis? He doesn't give a fvck and I love that about him.

Abeg, make nobody complain if Dennis no go WC o.

When you are the best at what you do, you will always have the leverage to make these kind of choices.

Please, perish this idea. If Dennis doesn't go to WC, it is us that will suffer, not him. I don't blame him for trying to stabilize his career, it was the best decision for him to make.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by ChrisKels: 9:07pm On Dec 31, 2021
And the truth keeps coming out, Dennis was invited late this December and that was the reason NFF delayed in making the list public. The list initial was a 37man list, but he was included with Iwuji and another player in December to expand it to 40.

Dennis wanted to go to the AFCON but he wasn't sure of what his fate would be considering that he was never in the initial list submitted to the NFF by Rohr so he had to weigh his options.

The two boards had to discuss this late invite and at the end of the day the NFF had to bulge since Dennis was never in the initial list making his invite come late.

Blame that Franco-German bingo for all these mess not Dennis

Ademola clearly just made the decision to play for Nigeria official this year, he obviously wanted the English FA to make a move. Again, this is not the first time the English FA has delayed the switch of their youth internationals for us, same thing was done with Iwobi's switch.

I posted a Sky news report of over 2.5 year's ago in which he made committment to change allegiance.

You can go further he went for U17 trials when he was at Charlton along with Ovie but they were no selected.

I actually don't think any European based player was at the time. Why do you think that happened ? It was similar with Mbappe rejected by Cameroon FA, I guess it's an African thing.

Although I really don't see why they should be recruiting U17 players in Europe, thst will hamper local football development.

I've given several change of allegiance examples that did not take more than 6 weeks with the English FA to African countries. But when it's Nigeria it takes years why ,. I've talked about Ovie over three years ago made his commitment.

There was absolutely no delay with Iwobi he was not even a prized asset at the time in the eyes of the English FA.

You know how we are and you make assumptions in the negative and bypass our own issues and place the blame on the English FA.

I know Dennis has an attitude problem but he has voiced it over and over again that he will be happy to go to the AFCON. If Salah, Mane and Mahrez are happy to be there (and Liverpool couldn't stop them), which other African wouldn't?

It is not just about being happy.

Sure, I will be happy if I go to Disneyland and have fun tomorrow, but can I afford it?

Players like Salah and Mane can afford the luxury of leaving their clubs for AFCON because they have already earned legend status. Liverpool is safe and can afford to let them go for that period.

Dennis is an entirely different issue. This is his best form in his career. Every decision he makes now must be to maximize his career long term. He has not reached the level of Salah and Mane, so any drop in form can bring him crashing down. He had to make the smart decision, whether he liked it or not.

In context, imagine this AFCON happened when Osimhen was having his breakout season at Lille. If you honestly think Osimhen at that point would drop everything for an AFCON where he was not even a guaranteed starter, then you need to evaluate your decision making process.
