I am not surprised with what I'm seeing here. A lot of people never liked Dennis, right from the beginning. The assumptions about his attitude contributed to this.

Dennis never rejected a call up. He even celebrated it on his social media account but due to the ideas people already have about him in their minds, they'd rather believe otherwise.

If you want to kill a dog, give it a bad name, especially when you feel intimidated by that dog. Especially when that dog seems uncontrollable.

But you know one thing about Dennis? He doesn't give a fvck and I love that about him.

Dennis is self made her did not use or needed the SE to further his career.

If l was Dennis I would ask myself by some questions, will going to the AFCON boost his career ❓Then when he comes back will he have the same upward trajectory ( pray he doesn't get injured)

Nonetheless, the NFF have not been honourable.

true, Watford and Ranieri wouldn’t want to stop him because they wouldn’t want any form of backlash but Dennis unwillingness to come made it easy for them. I hope he’ll be dropped in future games

God forbid.

NFF sent it late yet they allowed Troost and are making a case cos its Dennis. Why didn't they stop Sarr from leaving despite his injury?

It's just the player unwillingness to be at the tournament, if he truly wants to play the club can't stop him provided he was invited.

We saw what happened when CFC wanted to stop Mikel from participating in a non FIFA tournament (Olympics) but was allowed to when the player wanted to go. That shows commitment

Let Dennis stay at Watford and enjoy his relegation fight cos both him and Watford must be relegated. If you feel too proud, other less fancy players will come up and show you how useless you are.

I no talk for this Dennis matter again......He has pitched his tent, let him enjoy.

Oga it is not about pride. It is about sense. Unfortunately many of us are lacking in that respect.

"For a better part of his career"

I wasn't comparing him with anyone else, I was just stating what is known to everyone..

I don't think he ever had a good goalscoring run bar the one he is having now

Well, at the end, I wish him well and above all, the GWG is bigger than any player

He has played as a winger for the larger part of his career too.

Dennis should be careful. International football is important.
Another player could start shining a few months from now and it will make us forget about him.
We have many young players scattered in Europe waiting for a chance to shine in the top 5 leagues.
playing at the world cup will boost his reputation to no limits.
This is what made Ahmed Musa earn his place in Nigeria and it is even helping his club career.
If dennis plays well in the nations cup, then he can go to the world cup and play well and this will boost his career
and cement his international career.
Anyone can go and take his place at anytime. Football is unpredictable and fickle.
What if peter olaynka, collins yira sor, akinkunmi amoo etc move to a top 5 league next season and
start doing something spectacular or peter olayinka takes the nations cup by storm and moves
to a better league.
Nigeria has too many good players for him to be doing shakara.
The future will surprise him

If he keeps his premier league form, no one, and I repeat, no one will be able to displace him from the super eagles squad. This is someone that is second only to Salah as the best player in the EPL.

Let me respond to just the bolded. He has no right to seek such clarification. It is the height of disrespect to the GWG and insult to our sensibilities. It is a recipe for disaster. No matter how good your form, you cannot seek such clarification from your NT coach. Not even Messi or Ronaldo can make such a call. No matter who a player is, the greatest honor your country can extend to you is to invite you. If you want to accept, you accept. If you do not want to accept, just decline. When you accept, you come fight for your place, you sweat it out and stake a claim for yourself. Even if you are not in the first 11, so long as you are part of the team, you give all your effort and energy towards the success of the team.

Assuming he calls Eguavoen and says Heyy coach, you see how hot my form for watford is? Well I can only honor that invite if you assure me that I will have sufficient game time. Eguavoen now says ohhh yes, please come, you will surely have sufficient game time.

How do you think the other players will feel? Rancor, bitterness, animosity and division will spread through the camp because as human beings we recognize this kind of action for what it is: favoritism.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not saying that Denis should not decline. He has a right to decline. He even would be justified to say that he wants to stay back and help his club. However it is totally unacceptable if he declines on the basis that he wants an assurance that he'd be given a starting place. Such an attitude should not be tolerated at all.

You are not privy to what goes in the SE,, the little I have been told first hand I'd really not surprising but still DISSAPOINTING.

So these assumptions are not correct.

Loyalty is everything bro. I hope you will not also complain when other players who got a call up at the last hour (and still honoured it) make subsequent SE squads at his expense.

You are too sentimental.

Loyalty does not win you a world cup or a champions league. Newcastle have the most loyal fanbase in EPL, where are they on the table?

Going with the best players is what wins you anything, not loyalty.

Bar injury, Dennis would have started every game alongside Chukwueze. He would probably even won Best Player of Afcon. He would sold himself more. And left Watford next season. But him nor get sense.

I feel am I nor go lie. E pain me. But na him lose. On a good day (for the SE) Onyekuru is a beast.

All "would". What if he comes to AFCON and doesn't fit into the coach's system? Contracts COVID? Gets injured first match? What then?

Go siddon, you don cast finish. You jumped into a discussion that has nothing to do with you. In fact , it was a conversation with a separate person but, as soon as the illbred you call your friend took it upon himself to call me names it was enough reason for you to join the foray.

I don't like exchanging comments with you because you obviously have a mental problems.

And , no , you called me crack head and drug addict just because I said I prefer Azubike Okechukwu. You try this nonsense in the politics section you will be hammered with 6 months ban.

No time did I ever insult Ndidi nor Iwobi , I just don't fancy both players and I follow it up with strong reasons not insult. I will never call them names because I don't need to; I assessed them I reached my point. Ndidi might be a world player to you , but to me I will start Tijani ahead of him...and this is your definition of insult....lmao. Sshit filled brain!!

It's the lazy moderator I blame for this nonsense.

Those of you barking like a dog since yesterday, I hope you all have enough data to see this?

Dennis wanted to come, but his club threatened to take action against him. Now, why was the club able to beat their chest to make such threat? Simply because, his invitation came late.
So why did his invitation come later than Ekong's? Because he was never in the initial 37man list made by that bingo from Germany.

Dennis and Watford management are on the same page, unfortunately our NFF played into their hands.

As far back as early December, it was reported by owngoal that Dennis wouldn't be coming to Nations cup.
