Your department is yet to upload their admission list online. Keep checking, once the list is out and your name is on it, you won't have any issue accessing the student portal and booking an appointment for screening.

For now, the last screening date is Sat January 8, 2022, what could be the cause of the delay in shortlisting names by some departments while others have concluded theirs a long time ago?
This shows how disorganised they are or are they trying to sell some peoples' places?

Were you able to log into the portal top do the necessary updates and uploads before proceeding for screening? I'm confused because till now, I haven't been able to log in. I'm wondering if I'm just supposed to proceed for screening like that or wait till i can log in. I've sent them a mail but haven't received any response yet.

Yes, I was able to log in, update my biodata and upload the originals of my documents. Without that, you can't get the major requirements for screening which includes admission letter, screening schedule and biodata printout. If the admission list for your department has been uploaded, you should be able to log in. In the first few days too, I was not able to log in though I had been recommended until my department's admission list was uploaded.

Can't log in because my sluggish department hasn't done the needful.
Don't know whether to pay the department a visit.

Screening, you mean. No, it doesn't end today because it has been extended. As soon as your department's admission list is out, you can login to the student portal, upload your documents and book an appointment for your screening.
