ChrisKels: I beg you, do not make me laugh. ![]() Abi, me, and Pinnick. ![]() Well, I like when coaches give players the opportunity. I like seeing guys coming out of the scene and performing well. From this report, it is clear with Eguavoen as head coach, we would have gone into an era when anybody from anywhere can break into the team and excel. His statement showed he believed in their quality. That gives me excitement. So with Pinnick hiring a foreign coach, that kills the excitement of players getting chances to prove themselves in the National team. |

Subzero047: I see he is a coach that will look into the grassroot to hunt for talents, not only flying around Europe as if that is the only place talent lies. That impressed me about him. 1 Like |

“I can’t wait to give it my all” – Super Eagles star reacts to surprise Afcon call-up The withdrawal of Victor Osimhen and Emmanuel Dennis has opened the doors for others to make the party to Cameroon belatedly this week Slavia Prague forward Peter Olayinka says being called up to join the Super Eagles squad to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations is a dream come true for him. Despite being a three-time Czech Republic league champion, Olayinka was a fringe national team member during the managerial reign of erstwhile head coach Gernot Rohr. The 26-year-old attacker saw ten minutes of action spread across two international caps during the German manager’s five years and four months spell with the three-time continental champions. Still, Rohr named Olayinka in the 40-man provisional list for Cameroon 2021, but the Zulte Waregem forward’s name was excluded when interim coach Augustine Eguavoen released the 28-man roster for the tournament. However, Olayinka was called to replace Emmanuel Dennis after Watford stopped the exciting attacker from honouring national team duty. Olayinka immediately seized the opportunity and reported to the Super Eagles Abuja camp. It will be the forward’s first appearance at the continent’s biggest football event, and he is relishing the chance to shed sweat and blood for dear fatherland. “I’m really excited; it’s a dream come true for me,” Olayinka told Slavia’s official website. “I’m really looking forward to the tournament; I can’t wait to give it my all.” After recovering from an injury that troubled him at the start of the season, Olayinka has posted impressive stats for Slavia. The ex-KAA Gent has hit six goals and added two assists in all competitions for the Czech champions, despite being deployed mainly as a winger. Subzero047: How does it not relate? Eguavoen wanted to give them a chance but because of how short the time is, he dropped the NPFL players. He even assured their time will come. So explain yourself. |

Subzero047: You have not made any point in your post. So I need to start explaining what I think you mean. Let me try. The news was that Eguavoen was going to make a standby list of five players. Remember it is report we read. I was in support of the idea of having home-based players in camp in case of injuries and you need to make changes. You can not use foreign base players to come and sit in camp in case of injuries. So what is your point? This news is about Eguavoen wanting to include home-based players in the OFFICIAL LIST. 2 Likes |

Subzero047: So are you saying? I was against Home-based being included in the call-up? That foreign based players are coming in as replacements? (Note Ebuehi and co. are not coming to sit in camp in case someone injures but are part of the team) Are you saying the earlier news is not true? What is your point? 1 Like 1 Share |

Guy, do you wish Nigeria football grow beyond this mediocre pedestal lever it is now? I believe you have an ulterior motive....A lover of Naija football will not support Eguavoen on this...do you know how many years and clubside Olusesi and those other mentioned have been playing footie in nigeria league. Thank God the list was submitted before Eguavoen took over.. TheGoodJoe: 2 Likes 1 Share |

As if they are the only ones who have something at stake. Countries too want to win AFCON. Hope you know that they would have done the same with Ekong if he had been consistent this season? 4 Likes |
