I was surprised when people were pouring invectives on the police CSP that went to enforce a supreme court order in magodo.

People were shouting a whole governor was disrespected as if he is above the law,we are quick to accept strong men instead of strong institutions.

The police were only there to protect the baillif and plaintiff, the Highest symbol of equity and justice have addressed a wrong done to it citizens but because strong men have been affected By the judgement some of you want justice to be denied.

What many of the governor's and magodo resident sympathisers don't know is that if the judgement affect just the poor the governor won't even acknowledge them with his presence.

In this case the rule of law should Prevail and justice should be served irrespective of the parties involved as we are all equal before the law.

It serves the LASG right they think they can always wake up grab people land and go away with it ,the most painful part of it is that they will come and bulldoze your building without any consideration for compensation. The slogan that you can't fight the govt and win is now fallacy. It should serve as a lesson to other state governments that should they put into consideration the land owners.

Magodo incident is about rule of law, AGF & IGP’s agents lawfully cannot invade the estate in the pretext of enforcing SC Judgment.
They are not Sheriffs empowered to so do under the SCPA. If the LASG disobeyed the Court, redress venue is still the Court. Not office of IGP or AGF
They can. This is a 2012 order. The Sheriffs came to mark the properties earlier this month and were locked out by estate management. It's probably these sherrifs that petitioned the AGF and IGP for backup to help enforce the court order. It's immoral to keep denying people justice simply because they're poor.

CSP of police command Abuja came to Magodo Lagos to demolish buildings without the knowledge/authority from the Lagos state government even when the governor is the chief security officer and the matter has nothing to do with the police in Abuja

A police officer CSP on order of IGP arguing vehemently/disrespectful with SanwoOlu, a sitting Governor regarding Magodo imbroglio. This is why state police is better!

Mayor of Calgary controls Calgary Police. Why would IGP in Abj be giving order in a matter in Lagos? State Police as practiced in proper federations is the only way to go now!

Edit - The police raided the premises of a Supreme Court Justice......they said Malami sent them. Malami denied it.

Similar issues have now happened in Magodo.....police say Malami sent them but he denies it....

Maybe there's another Malami that we've not been told about....

Are you saying your own opinion or you're saying it authoritatively as if what you're saying is what the law says?

Why should the LASG disobey the Supreme Court? A judgement was pass since 2014 or 2012 in favor of the landlord, yet the LASG have not done anything about it.

The landlord association must not back down from this.

The Lagos State Government should relocate the people there to Badagry of Ibeju lekki and give the landlord back their lands.

For how long will the people keep going back to the court for redress cause the state government is failing to act? The FG have to come into this to make sure the Supreme Court judgement is carried out fully.

You are passing a wrong information here. Baba Suwe's case was concluded in the Court of Appeal where he lost to NDLEA. The matter was further appealed to the Supreme Court and was pending before Baba Suwe died recently. Say what you know. I just tire say many ignorant monkeys full this Nairaland. Over zealous members of the establishment carried out the arrest.

Comprendeh?

if a state government makes an arrest its equally the governor that's making the arrest. But if a ministry makes an arrest and the governor override the arrest it means the state government didn't arrest the person initially. Stating that the state government arrested him and the governor ordered his release is conflicting.

Comprendeh?

Hope the matter can be resolved peacefully without any further violence or recourse to breakdown of law & order.

Meanwhile, anyone with financial wherewithal and looking for how or where to invest, talk to me about rice milling & you'd be glad you did.

Happy New Year.

What are you even saying? The Federal govt is trying to protect a group of people who won a case againt the LASG....and u are here talking about sheriff. So they should fold their hands and watch as their properties get destroyed while waiting for court sheriffs? Did the LASG seek a court order before destroying their properties?

I doff my hat for Chief Adeyiga and his comrades. He is a true community leader and a true man of character . He never allowed the corrupt public officials to intimidate him with power and legal technicality jargons , he never sold out for 37 years pursuing justice for himself and his people. There are many Chief Adeyiga out there but negative minded folks think we don't have men and women of strong character and conscience in the land.
All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las. They always lose. God bless Nigeria.

Mr, according to Nigeria constitution, a common corporal is under the Federal Government. By the Supreme Court Judgement, A corporal can tell the Governor what the CSP told him, And there’s nothing the Governor can do.

That is the constitution we’re all abiding by, not sentiments. Know your laws and how they’re interpreted and leave emotions out of it.

Lagos land wahala is something to be avoided at all cost. Some folks have been living in Magodo for over 20 years with the C of O of their land (issued to them by the government), only to discover that the land can actually be taken from them due to this dispute than has spanned over so many years.
There is a case in Surulere too, another in festac. Buying lands in lagos na wa.

The Shangisha landlords already have victory at the Supreme Court. Only peaceful resolution can solve this now. Magodo people will most likely have to re-purchase those lands.

simple as that . Let them re - buy , start paying rent on the land , of which current supreme court judgement has rendered them homeless in magodo , or vacate the properties and face the state authorities that sold land to them with accompanied C of O for proper settlement / compensation .But it seems the residents and lagos state government has resorted making a mockery of supreme court judgement .They can always create another magodo for the about to be evicted landlords in the ibeju-lekki , or badagry settlement they proposed to the original land owners .
If this judgment from the high court up to the supreme court of nigeria on this case hasn't open some people's eyes that government in this country over the decades is oppressive , repressive , and operates in a way that can be likened to brigandage with little regards for courts and rule of law , then i wonder what evidence is needed again to prove this . Heard something about National stadium , surulere too , we are watching .
