Famocious: Good pound for pound replacement but I would had preferred a midfielder considering that we have 9 listed forward and defenders.. we cannot afford to lose any of our 5 midfielders if not, things can go south.. anyway, good luck to dessers he deserved this invite 1 Like |

We have the players that can deliver. All they need to do is play fast football against every team except the North Africans. The best way to play the North is to choke the midfield, stop their sleaky play, frustrate them to start commuting fouls, and then take them on the counter. 7 Likes |

He who the cap fits let him wear it. I am glad Eguavon insists that every player has a clean slate. If true then there would be keen competition, which would bring out the best of each player. Imagine what will be going on in the head of a premier league striker if he is been benched by a second division player in an unknown country. That is how The Super Eagles have always thrived. Great Club and Leagues have never played well for us but great players- despite where they play. I have always dreamt of Awoniyi turning out as another Yekini and Kelechi becoming our own Eto'o Fils, but my guts tell me that this is Sadiq Umar's tournament, if he earns and is given the opportunity. We have seen what 'Jojolo' brings to the table, during Siasia's last stint at the Olympics. However, I am most excited about the role Frank 'the tank' Onyeka would play in this tournament. I envisage a replica of an unplayable Onazi in that Ngr vs Fra game. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

I have a feeling that one or two players who missed Afcon due to one reason or the other will never return. especially now there's a new coach, that would watch the Afcon and these new strikers, and base decisions on it. Onuachu comes to mind 1 Like |

During the 2013 Afcon, some people predicted a CIV v Ghana final. Others predicted Zambia (the 2012 champions) and Burkina Faso to win the trophy. It seems some people are not learning from the events of 2013 going by their predictions. 1 Like |

JohnBullMySon: It depends on this current strikers performances. But, if Dennis and osimehn continue scoring in Seria A and Epl, they will walk into our 11.. wow, SE is really going to a tournament without their 2 best forward on current form |

drDoom3: I think you are caught up with a nostalgic quest for entertainment football characterised by dribbling, show boating and skill but with limited end product. Football has left that era behind even at AFCON and the days of gung ho, trying to dribble the whole team has Died. When a player's is skilful, technically astute, fast, physically resilient and strong all crowned with END PRODUCT even in an obscure league. He will not be unnoticed. Our best in form Striker is Dennis and he is not at the party, so also is Osimhen. If Ighalo plays we have hope. Ejuke is not the outstanding player in his league but he will go to the AFCON and set it on fire. I don't agree with your optimism. 3 Likes |

12large1:With the way things are going, we might have a situation where strikers are doing very well and the balance shifts to AFCON performance. If Sadiq or Dessers score five goals at AFCON due you think they'll be dropped simply because Onuachu or Moffi hits 20 goals before World Cup provided they had a good run of form even with less goals than the latters? |

maidaboi:Dennis was outstanding in Belgium league with more than 80 appearances with 20 or more goals though he later fell out with his club due to his attitudes and that bad attitudes continue with him in Germany, really surprised seeing him turning good for Watford. |

markfem2: Dem dey make assumptions based on Big name players. Some people said Morocco was sure for the semis last AFCON, na "I like to move it, move it" people still bundle those ones comot. AFCON is literally anybody's game. Your team may be filled with brilliant players, but the lines may not fall in place the day you need them to. See CIV with Haller, Zaha, Aurier, Pepe and co, you would think semi finals sure for them, only for you to hear that Zimbabwe or Guinea kicked them out. 5 Likes |

safarigirl: Every football game has an element of luck and fortitude. The team that prepares properly creates team cohesion and through working as a team can beat better teams with sheer hard work and determination. Nonetheless, cream always rises to the top. Last AFCON Algeria and Senegal were the best teams and Senegal was unlucky. If anything we were lucky to get as far as we did. On paper we are underdogs, there are at least 5 teams better than us on paper. Teams that win usually have a world class top player, that gives them an edge. |
