Best news so far in 2022. The FG is finally going after the foreign profiteers getting rich off Nigerians without paying taxes on goods sold in Nigeria. We've lost trillions in uncollected revenue, but better late than never. 32 Likes 3 Shares |

Which Amazon or which AliExpress. All they are doing is increasing the cost of transaction of Nigerians. These companies will just add a 6% NGA Tax on transactions originating from Nigeria at checkout. Collate the sum and give NG Govt. It's not coming from their profit. 85 Likes 9 Shares |

But is it not we Nigerians that will still pay the tax for the companies. At the point of check out, the company will just add the required tax to the final payment, so we will end up paying the tax not the company. 34 Likes 4 Shares |

Something that will be immediately transfered to their nigerian customers in form of slight increase on their prices. This government continously, vehemently wants to tax the breath out of Nigerians. what amazes me the most is that NLC and TUC seems to be accepting all this madness. I remember when i was very little and the dreaded Abacha under a millitary Regime increased pump price from 22 to 27 naira, NLC had the guts and still challenged him but under this supposed democracy NLC is clearly afraid. 18 Likes 4 Shares |

There is really nothing wrong with taxation. The problem is, those on top in Nigeria can't be trusted with the money, it would be stolen, embezzled & stashed abroad for thier unborn generation instead of using it to develop d nation. I wish I had power to wipe out corrupt entities 6 Likes 2 Shares

This isn't right. Why a 6% turnover tax instead of VAT. VAT is 7.5% of the cost of the product which is even higher. There's also import duty. This policy may discourage many of these companies from doing business with Nigeria. The country will be the biggest loser. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

These guys want to kill E-commerce biz. Already, Jumia and Konga have been charging VAT on their items since Buhari came into power. What does this mean? Online shopping is looking like an exercise for the rich and wealthy. Ripple effect means that economic activities that supports this industry will see a download spirall in their revenue and traffic. Lastly, not that these new reforms are completely ill-thought as I believe most Nigerians don't pay tax as shown in our Tax to GDP ratio, but can we trust taxpayers money in the hands of Government officials that have a track record of corruption? Don't forget subsidies in the power and oil sector are already in motion to be removed. Nigerians should brace up for tough times. 4 Likes 1 Share |
