Many of us only care about our prayers being answered with less concern about whether we asked for the best thing from God or not.
In the kingdom of God there are levels or ranks of position of things or people.

Matthew 5:17-37
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be considered least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

1 Corinthians3:13-14
…each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward" (1 Corinthians 3:13-14 ESV).

2 Corinthians 5:10
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil"

These bible passages are pointers to a fact that God gives out things (positive ) to people on bases of levels which could be either GOOD, BETTER and BEST but the least is a pass mark. God also leaves us with a choice to choose among the ranks of blessing he has for us whether is good, better or best.

This played out when solomon offered a great sacrifice unto God and God asked him to ask for a reward he wanted in return. Since it was God that was going to bless solomon from his store house of blessing even the least ofGods blessing s is certified O.K

1king 3:11

11 So God said to him, "Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice,
12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.
13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for--both riches and honor--so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings.

If solomon had asked directly for Riches or that his enemies should be destroyed in battle does not mean he asked WRONGLY or that God will not give them to solomon instead would had meant that he didn't ask for the in BEST thing. If Solomon request from God was all about wealth or Riches his prayer request would had been graded to be in the level of GOOD or BETTER but certainly not the BEST .

Jesus the son of God and the Messiah of the world understands the mind of God perfectly. Jesus always asked and received the best from God by asking for God's WILL ( anything that will give God glory , please God or make God happy according to how God wants it ) which guarantees only the best. If Jesus relied on his own instinct alone he would had probably gotten the GOOD or BETTER rank of results rather he goes for the BEST results by asking for God's own special choice that guarantees the BEST.

Prob 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ( BEST )

Psalm 32:8
LORD says, “I will guide you along the BEST pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.

Human intelligence can never get to or equal to God's BEST just as like stated in the bible passages in above. Daniel or solomon whose education background or priesthood training was 1 class couldn't do much NOT until GOD'S BEST started raining on them.

It was BEST for Jesus to have died on the cross for the people's sin to be cleaned but if God had answered Jesus prayer not to die ( evident in his prayer request to God ) it would had been O.k but certainly not had been the BEST option hence Jesus had to go for the BEST which can only be found in doing GOD'S WILL.

There is reward in everything ...BEST is higher than better.... BETTER is higher than good and GOOD is higher than BAD Jesus revealed to us how to ask from God so when next you ask God in prayer for that special desire see to it to know if you are praying right / BEST.

Sometimes when we ask and God is SILENT it may mean that you should STAY where you are and not rush yourself because he wants d best for you in as much what you asking God for will give God glory in d first instance.
