First of all I want to say thank you to everyone that was helpful with their advices on a thread I opened earlier about a photocopy of the NIN slip being given to my friend. I was happy to know that the photocopy was not a big deal after all.

From the advise I got here on that earlier thread, my friend was able to download the NIMC app and went ahead to input his NIN into the app and a virtual identity card was generated for him.

Just today, my friend went to get a SIM card. He presented his NIN to the person registering the SIM card and he was told that his NIN has not been verified, that he will need to either wait 2 months to be verified or he pays N2,500 for it to be done quickly.

I am here wondering again. I thought inputting your NIN into the app and being issued an ID Card is another way of verification. If not, how can an official government issued app generate a virtual ID card for you without first verifying your NIN.

Is the SIM registration center trying to play a smart one on my friend or could they be right?

Note: when my friend confronted the SIM registratin center with the app and the virtual ID card he was issued. They simply said that it was fake and it has not been really verified.

Please my people help me clarify this issue. What is this verification all about. Nigeria matter dey stress person.

Here's how it works.

In NIMC portal his Records and Thumbprint everything is in their database.

Once they've processed his information.

After processing it, they always send it to telecoms office.
The problem is with the NCC headquarter and The Banks headquarters
They've not synchronized their database with the nimc database thereby making it to be congested if they don't do the necessary thing, he no fit see am anywhere in their branches

Its possible he will not be able to use it in bank.

If he take his Tracking ID to any of nimc center, he will be seeing his information

Tell him to wait for 3 or 4 months, if he pays money except if not in their headquarters nah wash money he paid

He should dial *346# on his number he used to register.
They'll deduct #20

If it brings out his NIN which is the same as the one on his Slip then they're very wrong.

If it says your data does not exist then its fake (they're right)

He actually just dial *346# with the number he used to register and it said his info does not exist. So, I guess he has not been truly registered with the government yet.

So how come it's saying his data doesn't exist?
Except if he's dailing it on the wrong number.
