yolkman20: You might need to raise your budget if you want a 2bed. Confirm your wife's weekly lecture schedule; considering the wave of the pandemic especially in London, most schools encourage online classes. It is not compulsory to search for apartment close to her school, she'll barely attend classes for up to 3 times a week. Your budget will get you a decent 1bedroom apartment around Bexleyheath, Dartford, Kent, Woolwich Arsenal and Stratford. Your wife should also apply for student Oyster card upon arrival, it makes commuting cheaper. 4 Likes 1 Share |

AirBay: I think Birmingham just has a bad reputation for violent crime and all that youth gang stuff. Nothing any different from any big city. |

Hello Everyone, thank you for all the contributions. I'm a Data Analyst and I work remotely with a firm in UAE. I couldn't move over there due to some constraints. Now I've gotten an offer with a company in UK (London) and another offer with a company in Channel Islands (Jersey) Honestly I'm confused and I need your advice to help me make a decision. The UK offer is £2,650 higher than the other one. I'm married with 2 children (3 and 1 year olds) Thanks |

DisGuy: The school is university of Westminster and it's on Marylebone road. I've checked Kent, areas like Gravesend, Rochester, Dartford, Maidstone and many more but the prices are just way off. I use Rightmove and Zoopla though. I'd appreciate if anyone can share links to other good sites I can check. Thanks |

Does anyone know the rules around dependents traveling to the UK before the main applicant? The dependent (husband) wants to go first to sort out accommodation and the main applicant (wife) will join with the children. |

Ralphlauren: The £2k wage difference is annual not monthly. @StarMonkey Congrats. You're better off in London than Jersey. For one, you're in the middle of the action and closer to friends, support for your young family. 2, you get more options for quality network in London. 3, your career progression in London will likely be faster and you can easily change jobs. On the flip side, the wage difference will probably be dwarfed by the higher cost of living in London but your potential to earn more in the long run should be your consolation. 4 Likes |
