I find it not the best decision that the government will be borrowing billions to fix infrastructure that could have been executed in a more economical way. If I get elected as Nigeria's next president, the issue of Infrastructure will in all honesty be one of the 'easiest' things to tackle. First and foremost, I will mandate all the appointed ministers in their respective posts to submit in 90 days, all the critical infrastructure peculiar to their designations; infrastructure needed that will impact positively in the lives of Nigerians based on what Nigerians need , and also one that can generate money for the government at the same time. It certainly won't be free but it will be worth paying for. Then I will ask the ministers to prepare detailed RFPs for all the infrastructure needed. The RFPs will be published either on national dailies or invitations could be sent directly to companies that might be interested. Basically, infrastructure will be on PPP basis, to the benefit of first Nigerians and then the private firm. A lot of companies are looking for where to put in their money for good returns. The companies that will bid and win for these infrastructure will be made to execute the project with their own funds but the intricacies of the agreement will ensure that the company will recover their investment, the government will also make her money and Nigerians will be happy with the services. The government side of the money generated from these arrangements will be reinvested into other sectors of the economy. This will definitely work, and Nigerians would so love the transformation that would come from this strategy. ES

If you become president, you will realise some people who aren't the president wield overwhelming power on the presidential seat than the president can do. These sorts define Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |

jackcanfield:Not every company will want to use that avenue. Secondly, the tax credit is for companies operating in Nigeria. But the approach my government will use will encourage new companies to come in and invest, and also be part of the process of maintaining the infrastructure to ensure their investments keep yielding. While my Government's approach will not work on all infrastructure, it will be turning point for better things and approaches |

EmekaStanley:Well you know PPP approach do have a lot of bottleneck in this country, a good example is the LCC which eventually sold out it's shares to Lagos state government, perhaps due to banks on the neck and Bi Courtney which never see the light with Lagos - Ibadan Expressway .... I believe they are better approaches to financing infrastructure...The tax credit scheme is still a great idea, I just hope the companies enjoy technology transfer and spread their tentacles to other country, hereby remitting forex bank to the country, but the government need to do a lot in terms of diplomatic engagements and signing of beneficial treaty to our dear country . Anyway whatever happens remember me in your government o... |
