It does say in the heading right there that this is a war crime. That is probably not what's happening in Islington. |

Pearlyfaze: Took someone I know 2 months to get a place. Housing is a big issue in Scotland right now Newcomers no suppose get choice when it comes to accommodation. Secure one first, sign a 3-6 months contract, switch to another later. |

TheGuyFromHR: Do you? Mind telling me why? Maybe if I see it through your eyes, I ll start liking it? It strikes me as a dying city with do many closed shops in the city centre. Torquay is that way too. Only Exeter gives off vibrant vibes. Its the only Labour city as well. Is there a connection? Just wondering |

marylandcakes: An example of Ethnic cleansing would be Auschwitz. Kindly Wikipedia Auschwitz and compare. Hope you have eaten and digested your lunch first. Its not for the fainthearted. Some ill informed person may have used the term in a newspaper. Still doesn't make it true. I m concerned about this because using this term inappropriately may be misconstrued as antisemitism. Gentrification and white flight is more than adequate to describe what's happening in London. 5 Likes 1 Share |

missjekyll: I'll definitely agree that it's a depopulating city, like so many, and yes, that is clearly obvious. I just like the seaside/maritime ambience, and its air of faded glamour of sorts. I've only been thrice, actually, last time in 2018, so I can imagine what the pandemic will have done to the high street now. 1 Like |

marylandcakes: In some historical cases, there has been a centralised, focused plan to get ethnic minorities to move out from an area. Something like that used to happen in the US where city/state governments deliberately built infrastructure such as highways and stuff in areas where black people were concentrated, demolishing their communities and forcing them to move elsewhere, so-called constructional racism. But here in the UK there is no directed means through which areas are being gentrified by government policy so as to remove/reduce their multi-racial character, unless you want to use that term to describe the Tories' blind worship of the 'market' and refusal to support social policy in relation to affordable housing. |

Hi guys, I will be commuting to work within London starting soon. I will be using buses only. From my research online, there is no difference between getting a travel card amd using my bank card for the week as the fares are capped on the bank card once it reaches the equivalent cost of a travel card... Can anyone confirm this or give any advice on how to proceed? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Adapapaokoye: 3:02pm On Jan 09, 2022 |
mizGene: Interested in this because I prefer using bank card than oyester and don't see any difference |

mizGene: Yes that's correct, bank cards are gradually replacing travelcards/oyster except you're getting student discount Are you sure you want to use buses only, commuting by bus alone is very frustrating, I find. There are so many road works |

I’ve been thinking. Programmers/Business people in the house. Can someone build something like Rightmove but for Students moving to the UK. I think there’s a reasonable market for it. Landlords will post their houses and ask for 3, 6 or 12 months rent in advance (I’ve checked and this is legal). Students can check and if they are happy with any house/location they view as usual and pay. I won’t go into all the details but I think it would benefit both parties. Abi how Una see am? P.S- If you decide to build this solution and would like to do it with someone I’m interested please. 6 Likes |

Good Evening Everyone, hope we are all having a wonderful day. A friend just told me something that I have not been able to confirm officially anywhere and i would appreciate clarity. While I am well aware that your family must be in UK to be eligible to apply for the post study visa route, He said that they must be residing in the UK not less than 6 MONTHS to the planned date of application and sent some youtube videos to back it up. I haven't seen anything like that in the government sites concerning durations and so I decided to bring it here for more information. How long is officially required as stay period before application? |

Once your NI number arrives, you can apply to join NHS banks for temp 0-hour contracts but you need to be double-jabbed for this as this becomes compulsory for NHS staff from April 1, 2022. Mashaunola: 1 Like 3 Shares |

IcecoldDon: Not true. Dependants must be in the UK at least 24hours before you apply for POST STUDY. Then, you apply together. 5 Likes |

Thanks. My friend was so sure and confident and had already started making very hasty and drastic moves based on this belief...selling properties and all sorts just to fast track bringing his family over. Na wa oh!!! Sheer damage false or incomplete information can actually cause. This is the link he believed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHTvXVPVVpY&t=292s rayralph: 1 Like |
