Please, you people should call doctor, because CAF and their Twitter handler have started running mad. Imagine asking people to vote for MOTM for a game that has not even started 4 Likes

Icon4s:Not you alone. Maduka doesn't inspire confidence. Yours is even better, you prefer Uzoho. Me, none of them cos I've seen them all to know they are all on the same level except that Akpeyi transmits fear in such a visceral way that even you watching him, will start shaking as he is shaking. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Unless Bertrand Traoye is Neymar which he is not, there’s nothing they can do to this Cameroonian team, all their players are built like rugby players, so damn strong and physical. Sorry for whoever jam them. 1 Like |

Cameroon has always been about muscle and strenght and power. Na sense them take dey beat them. And na only super Eagles sabi match them at their peak. But I fear the Samuel Eto effect on these players. Him go don tell them say na them be the sons of Zeus, that nobody can beat them. Lol 1 Like 1 Share |

safarigirl:Let me answer you on this. The thing is that when you live within a particular moment, you will understand what it means. The Brazilian team of 1982 was defeated by Italy at the WC in Spain. That team is touted to be the most complete national football team ever. In fact their defeat by Italy is widely regarded as the day football died. In the 70s and 90s the Dutch too had a great team who did not go on to win anything. Different countries can attest to moments where their team is sprinkled with stardust all round but then the team for one reason or the other does not fly or fly as high as expected (Cote D'Ivoire of Drogba's time, England of Terry, Lampard, Scholes, Beckham, Rooney and Gerard or look at what is presently happening to Belgium) Fact is that the 94 set of SE embodied greatness. It was palpable. As fans we were in touch with it. They had a mentality that made fans believe in them. In fact go to YouTube and read comments from their videos and you will commonly find fans from all over the world talking about how they came to reckon with Nigerian football through that team. Did they live up to their potential? No, but it is the memory of what we all saw as a great potential that makes them the template for reference. Even many people who had watched the Green Eagles or the various assemblage of our national teams before the 94 class knew something was tick about that team. And they won tourneys - Nations cup and Olympics but they should and could have won more. So it is good for the present Eagles to have that weight of comparison put on them. This is the purpose or the use of history. This is what pedigree means. Osimhen must surely have Yekini's record in his sight to outdo yet I'm sure Osimhen was not born when Rashidi was our henchman. So you see at a deep psychological level, when a model of success is set before us, it is not to crush us but to inspire us to rise up to that same stature or better still, transcend it. 8 Likes |
