Yes and coming from one who now passionately guards the door leading to Experience's hallway of fame, I can understand your choices. Especially that of Iggy. But like Forgiveness rightly pointed out. Even Iheanacho lacks Afcon experience. I hope you know this. zuchyblink: 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd:We are not primarily talking about AFCON experience but international experience. Sadiq and Awoniyi don't have international experience and that is a big gamble. You don't gamble with your attack, although I don't blame the coach. No thanks to injury (Osimehn) and club politics (Ighalo) |

andrewbaba44:you are absolutely spot on. If Awaziem must play, he should play as a CB. One thing I don't want to see with the new eagles is the deployment of players as a makeshift. Most especially the RB position. Players should be deployed to their natural position. We should not be having fully fit players seat on the bench why someone else play their role. If the coach feels they ain't good enough, then he shouldn't invite them. Rohr did this from his first match to the last. Aina and Ebuehi were the major culprit. Those guys suffered a lot. 14 Likes |

Good. Reason why in my reply to Forgiveness, I had to bring in the allround experience of Nacho in the GWG. WC experience and have been with the team since 2015. Sadiq and Awo don't quite have the experience required to lead the lines at a huge tournament of this magnitude and have just about 1 senior cap between them as well. I agree it's a gamble but it's a gamble with two inform natural Strikers especially in the absence of 2 top choices in Osimhen & Onuachu alongside inform Dennis and Experienced Iggy. Now bear in mind that even Ighalo had not led the lines for us at a Major tournament (bar the WC game vs Croatia) as a starter before Afcon 2019 came along. But yes, you could say he gelled with the team during the Qualifiers and before that. This is what Awo and Sadiq don't quite have even though they are in form. So this leaves either taking a gamble on them or going with Iheanacho as the man to lead the lines. zuchyblink: 3 Likes |

zuchyblink: Technically, Osimhen sef for be AFCON greenhorn, because Rohr no use am do anything in 2019. Also, our forwards in AFCON 2013, weren't they AFCON green horns as well? We took Brown Ideye, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa, Emmanuel Emenike and Ikechukwu Uche. None of them were at the last AFCON we had qualified for before then, and only Ikechukwu was at the 2008 edition. The rest were new. I'm really curious as to why it is now a problem to be an AFCON greenhorn as a forward, because now, it just seems like people are bringing up arguments that hold no water. I can understand how greenhorns in the defense would be a problem, but how is it an issue in the forward line? 6 Likes 3 Shares |

Yes, in Camp, Awo has been quite goals-shy, according to reports. But I cannot deny that he is a man in form. All Awo needs are chances and even half chances and he will bury them. As long as we create chances upon chances, our attack will bag. This, I know. This is why my whole approach to games is centered more on how we set-up in the middle game in sync with our creative and attacking wingers so that we play on the front foot from the 1st min and dominate in several phases of the game creating as much chances as possible and trusting the man up top to Bury them. Of course, the other depts can also ship in with a few goals. For me, I don't think I am overly worried about Awo, Sadiq and Iheanacho in attack. Maybe the fact Awo and Sadiq has just one senior cap between them is what gets me concerned sometimes but in all, they (including Nacho) are all fine finishers who feed off chances. Create chances and I bet we will conquer. jihday: 4 Likes |

Well, in those training sessions, in as much as it gets intense, you gotta navigate through those Match practice sessions with sense. Lol... you don't wanna go all in and get smashed by hard guys like Awaziem and Omeruo. But shaa... Yes, it is a bit concerning especially on awo because Sadiq is scoring in training but reports say not as much as expected. Part of this is down to not enough chances being created for the lads in training depending on the teams they are on in training. The last practice game we both know about (which they had after the Coton sports friendly) had Chukwueze, Nwakali, Onyekuru, Iwobi, Umar, Awaziem, Ajayi, Ebuehi all in the same team. One thing synonymous with these bunch is they all know how to ball-play. They also had Onyeka and Simon. This "team above" created more chances than the other team that had Iheanacho, Aribo, Ejuke, Awoniyi, Omeruo, Zaidu, Olayinka, Ndidi, Aina and Ekong. So for me, it was no surprise that the latter team won that practice game. Different practice teams, different selections, different outcomes. I trust the Strikers to come good eventually as their finishing is not in doubt but Iheanacho is making a stronger case to lead the lines or at least make the starting 11. zuchyblink: 1 Like 1 Share |

From what I have seen so far from the training sessions and responses from the head coach, this is my expected formation. We are going to play a high line possessive game and technique will play a huge role. Ball playing skills will play a big part too. Also long balls from deep will play a big part. So Awaziem and Ekong will work. Aina's offensive duty will play a part. 15 Likes 2 Shares |
