Hi everyone, I recently got an offer from an organisation, after reviewing the contract of employment I observed the following clause was inserted. "You shall not during your employment, except as a representative of the Company or with the prior written consent of the CEO, whether paid or unpaid, be directly or indirectly engaged, concerned, or have any financial interest in any capacity in any other business, trade, profession, or occupation. ". HR professionals, please does this imply that I cant take up part-time employment not in conflict with the organisation as well as outside the weekly allotted work hours of 37.5 hours? Is this the norm? |

midasfx: Yes, that’s what that clause means. Most company use that, not just in the UK. Even in Nigeria. Especially multi nationals companies. I think it’s a clause on your working visa self. I saw something like that. You are not allowed to do multiple jobs when on working visa I think. |

Hello people, please who takes the home insurance policy between a landlord and a tenant? Also what are the things the landlord repairs if bad during the course of the tenancy? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Lexusgs430: 7:00am On Jan 14, 2022 |
Hephzi04: This is a multi faceted, set of questions........ Landlord takes out building insurance, tenant MIGHT choose to take out content policy...... Hope you took pictures and videos of the property, before you moved in ?...... Normal wear and tear, is not usually chargeable...... But damages, either gets deducted from your deposit or you fix............ |

Thank you, i’ve not moved in yet still at the stage of checks and applications but the Landlord want me to take home emergency cover as one of his conditions. I’m JJC in town so i want to be sure if i’m on the right path because when i read about it, it mostly covers things like plumbing and things like that which i think should fall on the Landlord or am I overthing it? Hephzi04: Home emergency cover is the landlord's responsibility. As the name states, it covers call outs in the event of an emergency such as burst plumbing, boiler failure, etc. Contents insurance is what you as a tenant can take out, if you wish, to possibly cover your possessions and any items of furnishing your landlord may have in the house. |
