Got a call from a strange number, hello, good morning Sir, can you recall who is speaking?

I do not have his number saved on my phone, nor recognise his voice. Sorry, I don't, I responded.

I am sorry for calling you this early, no problem Sir, go ahead, is there anything I can help you with? I responded.

Yes Sir, my brothers car has just been Hijacked at Gun Point, and his phone was collected from him, I will like you to help us track it shocked

Now, I know why he was asking if I knew who was speaking, we must have installed a gps tracker for his said brother, there was no other reason he would be requesting that we helped him track it. That moment it was if chilled water was poured on my body. I fumbled and reached out for my smartphone.

What is your brothers plate number? He called it out, told him to send it on WhatsApp, while he stayed on the line.

Logged in into the fleet management end and searched for the plate number. Details not on our platform... Wahala

Sir, your brothers plate number is not saved on our system.

What is his name?

Mike Folorunsho, he responded.

Searched for Mike Fol.

Boom, there it was, RX330 with plate number AB2267C, he had sent AB2627C.

Called out the right plate number, and he confirmed that was it.

Man, I didn't know what to feel, whether to be happy or sad, I had a mix of both. Happy, because the vehicles location is known, and live with full gps signal. Of course nobody wants to deal with a stolen vehicle wahala early mormor.

I can see the vehicle, told the caller, I will call him Mr Alfred. This is what I will do. I will send the app you will download right there on your phone, so you can self track, and the login details. I will also send a Google link of the vehicles location, and the sim number in the tracker so you can self track manually. Yeah, Yeah, that's fine he responded.

While reeling out the details I promised to send to to him, I was already typing and sending the details to the number he used it in sending the plate number to me on WhatsApp.

Sent them, and he thanked me profusely.

I had Just finished morning devotion with family and trying to prepare for the day when the call came in. My wife had a look of whatsup after dropping the call. She did not need to ask, the contour on her face had asked already. A customers vehicle has just been stolen, and someone called so we could help them track it.

Argh. Yes o, Argh. Then she dropped the bombshell that will totally alter the pace of the day.

How are you sure the person that called you, are not the same people that stole the vehicle... Right there, I could hear the same bell time keepers ring while I was in primary school during break time.

Gbagaun, Gbagaun, Gbagaun. Those were the sounds ringing in my ears. My wife was right. How was I sure, it wasn't the criminals that contacted me. The caller had said, they stole the vehicle at Gun Point, drove his brother deep into the bush, collected his phone and dumped him there.

So wow did the caller get my number?

Checked the number that sent the plate number of the stolen RX to me on WhatsApp, Fuxxck!

It was the same number that had requested for a tracker installation. The criminals were the ones requesting for the vehicles location. I had just sent vital details to them!

Ps: Names and some details have been changed to protect the identities of the people involved

To salvage an already bad situation, I deleted the details I sent to him on WhatsApp.

It is going to be a long day!

I was all calm while receiving the call a while ago. Seeing the exact location of the vehicle brought even more ease.

Everything changed in an instance on knowing it is the same criminals that were reaching out to me for tracker details. I had a knot in my stomach, it was as if I had restricted breathing, I Don choke.

Out of the possible things that must have happened, or is happening, one is without doubt.

A vehicle had just been hijacked

If the story the caller gave was true. Then the situation isn't as bad, as the victim must have had means to reach out to relatives and probably safe. But the new twist of criminals contacting me made a bad situation even worse. This is no longer a case of car theft, but one of possible kidnap, assaination, murder or any other dreaded crime, and they are trying to cover their tracks.

If they have my number, and I haven sent the exact location of the vehicle to them, then I was at risk too. They now know I am privy of the vehicles location too.

I do not know the length this dare devil's could go in covering their tracks.

Even though we had just finished our family devotion, it was time to pray again and act

.........

The prayer part, all I could muster is: Lord please take control. I thought I had a hang on this, but right now I don't, I will rather a greater force takes control and help me out.

This was not how I planned my Monday, the time was already a quarter to 7am, my phone had started ringing again, I could see on my WhatsApp the last caller had sent a message asking why I deleted the last messages I sent to him

Imagine, such effrontery, I could imagine a wrinkle and a smirk on his face, probably angry on why I had deleted the message. Thank God I am in far away Lagos and the vehicles location is showing a village in Anambra state.

Why is he calling me again ?

I had done the prayer, it was time to act and think.

Checked the history of movement of the RX for the the day, maybe it will reveal a hint

The vehicle had moved from its location by 5:20am, there were some stops around Nnobi Ukulobia Road, which I suspect the hijack and kidnap happened.

By 5:35am, there was a 6mins stop, 5:43, another stop all along Nnobi Ukulobia Road not far from the market. This was where the hijack must have happened.

Then they drove to the the village. At the last stop which is where the vehicle is currently at. Taking a closer look at the tracker alarm at the last stop would reveal something else.

It was a dead end. Only one road leads there and does not lead out, unless you are turning back, it leads to a Bush, more like a forest, then another hint I had not taken note of, there already has a been a shutdown command to the tracker. With a shutdown command, nobody will be able to start it, unless a recovery command is sent.

So Who shut it down!

This is not how a Monday morning should go, I am too soft for this kind of Hardley Chase kind of stuff. Ehn, lor dun tun tun. In a new year sad

What do I mean by shutdown command.

The trackers we install have the shutdown functions, where you can switch of your vehicle from any where in the world and nobody will be able to start it. The vehicle looked like it had gotten to an assumed destination or end, because the road only leads to a forest. The question now is, who had issued the shutdown command.

With the vehicle shutdown, nobody will be able to start the car, unless a recovery command was issued. No one else, except the vehicle owner, or whoever has the tracker information can shutdown a vehicle.

If what the caller said is anything to go by, the owners phone had been taken, How did he send a shutdown command, obviously not him, then who did!

Are they trying to contact me to give a recovery command, so they could start the vehicle? I doubt it

Re: A Month Old RX330 Stolen At Gun Point In Ekwulobia Anambra| How It Was Recovered by 9japarts: 4:57pm On Jan 13, 2022
If I had a grip on what was happening all along, now I am confused.

I thought of calling the owner of the Stolen vehicle, then I remembered he is the victim.

At the point of installation, we only request for the contact details of the vehicle owners, there was no one else I could call asides him, this is an obvious loophole on our information requests. We should at least have the phone number of a next of Kin we can reach out to incase of emergency. Here is an emergency, with no one to call. Made a note to send messages to all customers wev installed units for to send additional information.

What do I do, I need to get my acts together, I need to think. Think.. What's the next line of action!

I have always believed all problems have Solutions, the solution to this, I don't know, but if I could think through it, maybe I will figure.

While engrossed in my thoughts, my phone starts ringing again,.... Guess who the caller, It was the same number that had called me Before claiming to be the brother to the owner of the stolen vehicle in question.

I reached out to my smartphone, he had sent another WhatsApp message. It reads

Why did you delete the messages you sent

Such effrontery. The vehicle is far away anambra, I am in Lagos Nigeria, the distance gave a sense of security. What if they were some cartel, and have links in Lagos and are out there trying find the only person that knows where the vehicle they stole is, and possibly their kidnapped victim.

Though the caller said the victim was dumped into a deep forest, after collecting his phone. I have been ignoring his calls, and the ringing tone from my phone were beginning to annoy and conveyed a sense of urgency on the need to act fast.

I have three things I could work with, the vehicles crime day movement history, the current location of the vehicle, and a caller on one end itching to speak with me.

Police. It is time to call the police. I know where the vehicle is, with the location I am privy with, all they need do is storm location, recover vehicle and rescue the owner I am assuming had been kidnapped.

My phone is ringing again, this is the umpteenth time the caller is calling in a row, I can't continue to ignore his calls l. It is time to make my own calls. I need to call the police!

This were moments I wished we were living in a sane nation. There is no 911, no emergency number to reach out for help. Which police was I going to call. No number, nothing, how was I going to reach them.

In Nigeria, we solve our own problems, provide water, contribute money to buy transformer. We raise funds to put stones on bad roads, clear drainages ourselves, then get vigilantes to protect police stations. Sickening.

Calling the police is not a big deal, well, in our climes, it is, as there is no central emergency number you can call for help. Even when you can, they have the propensity to turn everything around and find a way to loop you in as the cause of their ineffectiveness. Having a police sure plug is the best deal. One that has not been corrupted with road block Rodger money, whose heart is not a reflection of his black uniform.

I had one, CSP Francis Adekunle. He is the only officer I can trust, the last rendezvous we had was 7 years ago in Uyo, we were driving in his Toyota Corrola along Nsikak Eduok Road, Uyo. Soft spoken and firm. Another event I can recall was one time he had called to know if I could track a stolen phone for him, that he had the imei.

Hello 9japarts, I will like to you help me with something.

Me, help police officer shocked

Oga continue na. I can assure you the carjack was carried out by ESN/Ipob. They have a camp in the forest of Nnobi. My uncle narrowly escaped these criminals just yesterday around 5:30am on his way back to Lagos after they threw a rim at him as he was on high speed, but to God be the glory, he manoeuvred through it.

That spot is prone to car hijack, what I do not know is if the culprits are ipob/ESN

As at that time, I have the same disposition I give to all police officers, one of suspicion, distrust and giving enough arms length. To me, they are a necessary evil. As bad as they are portrayed and often times act, they still remain the go to force in reeding our society of crimes and nabbing criminals. When they are willing and and have made up their minds to do their, jobs, or have a high profile case with instructions from the oga at the top to unravel, they are always fantastic and you begin to wonder if it is the same police force you know.

Yes, with what Sir. Do you know how we could track a stolen phone? Er gbami, I hope this is not some set up, what's my business with tracking a phone, and the request is not coming from not just anybody, but a police officer. My thoughts wandered, and itching to know what's up the sleeve of this request.

While we were together driving in his Toyota Corolla at our last meet, we brushed and talk about a whole lot of issues. Keenly listening to him and on one end, using head to calculate if the corolla was changing gears. He had contacted the workshop that he wanted to sell it, and I had instructed he brought the vehicle to the shop with the papers to confirm if it wasn't a stolen and to also test drive. I won't be selling a car, that customer will turn the workshop on the to a second office, As at this time, I never knew I was speaking to a police officer, and not just any one, a DPO. He said he will send one of his boys to bring it over. Boys, which one is boys with what we are saying.

He would later come around in the afternoon to the shop with his security details. Na there I knew, I wasn't on the phone on the phone with just anybody. But oga of police. Hope I never Bleep up.

ipobcannibals:
It’s them, Ipob/ESN has created a platform for every criminal in the SE to operate freely. They’ve now masked and cloaked their criminalities in Biafra agitation, that’s why the people themselves are confused.
Two weeks ago, they took a Toyota Corolla from a guy buying fuel at the filling station and told him that they needed it for Biafran restoration. They told him to come to their forest where they’re camped to get his car back.
The sad thing is that when this brother reported to the police, the police told him that he should exercise some patience, his Igbo brothers will soon get Biafra and give him a Jeep as his reward for helping to get Biafra. That was how they mocked him and he left in tears.

Because of how sensitive and the kind of reaction an Ipob conversation draws on this platform, plus the fact that there is no proof as to who the culprits are, as I will reveal in my story.

I implore that we do not fan a course that leads to such discuss or unconfirmed claims, and not ruin a budding beautiful thread.

Thanks
