Watching the penalty incident and Ola Aina is clearly at fault here.

I cannot believe some folks in here were trying to defend this. Aina was careless in that moment.

He stepped on the Sudanese and pulled his Jersey.

Absolutely no need for such. He wasn't even a threat. Na wa.

Some folks here and their agenda ehn. Aina had a World Class game vs Egypt and he was very solid today but that penalty call is all on him.

He should please be more careful henceforth.

Boss you need to add insults na.
It would be hard to prove that Nwakalis inclusion helped the team compared to Aribo because we were already leading and quite comfortably. Nwakali came in to seal the game

He didn't seal the game he was close to being a liability when your own team mate's are berating you in the middle of the game as Ndidi did.

There is nothing to say

Backed down ke?

Nwakali is not important enough for me to be going back and forth about him.

I made my observations and left the topic, I cannot be wasting arguments about Nwakali.

And Elyte89, the possession referral you quoted.

The possession dropped to 55 - 45 (or 56-44) even before Nwakali stepped in.

They showed it at the time he just only came into the game on 65mins.

Nwakali's presence brought it back up to a 58 - 42 conclusion.

So you see... My argument stands.

I hope you guys sha know if Osimhen came to this tournament, we may never have known how good Awoniyi really is. Awoniyi would be getting like 10 mins gametime at the end of games when the game is dead already. Because of limited gametime, he may not be able to grow into games and would probably look poor and out of place.

This is why I don't like bashing debutant subs. Give a player a starting berth in a normal game where he can show his abilities on equal footing with everyone else before concluding that he is not a good player.

I pray he get his starting berth. We've never controlled the middle yet this Afcon. Just that starting berth is not something player should be looking forward to before getting justified. Some players see 10mins and outperform 80mins guys.

Making yourself available for a pass. This is another attribute to Nwakali's game.
Zaidu in 78mins was just standing there and lookinb for a better passing option, Nwakali moved into space and called for the pass.

Unafraid to receive and handle the ball.

Already seen one of his 3 long balls. This one was to Zaidu on 79mins or so. Clean distribution that switched play to the left.

For over 2 mins, we have had the ball. No break in sequence. That's neat.

Iwobi coming centrally to combine with Nwakali. So fluid.

Reason why Nwakali is getting all the slander is because he has been overhyped here already and when he plays averagely, he tends to get the stick. I do not think he played badly but up to the standard he was hyped to play definitely NO.
I feel he was playing according to instructions though and is yet to express himself.
I pray he comes good and keeps improving but no need to slander him. He will either prove himself or be found wanting
Most times when people Bash a player, it is not the player they are attacking, rather his fans

The funny thing is if we now see what Onyeka plays and its better, that's another minus to his relevance, cos this is a competition of shirts and spots and the best once they've proven themselves, will outshadow the rest. Its national team football so the time is lesser, compared to club football where injury can make a benchito get time to even outshadow the main star if so wish. He's not the first and he's not going to be the last, that's why he need improve asap. Best of luck to him.

I am skeptical and unable to explain how an anonymous mouse in the Segunda was getting to play before Iwobi and Onyeka who has been a consistent performer for Brentford in the EPL . Has not had one minute.

There is simply no rational to these actions. I know that there is all kinds of politics that goes on in the NFF. But this is becoming too obviously implausible and defying logic.

When you come to the closing stages of a game you need a box to box Midfielder to put in a shift. This is something that Onyeka has done.

It should have been apparent to the coaching crew that Sadiq has nothing to offer. Then what about Olayinka and Onyekuru ❓

Or you refer to the first game.

Sincerely, i can even understand benching Iwobi. But i never expected Onyeka not getting mins like this. Make coach no kon say na strategy o. Musa will see more mins than sadiq going forward.

Impact over flair.

Thank God Sadiq saw 30 minutes of game time today and 15 minutes in the last game

It is not the usual 10 minutes cameo. He did not get a cameo and we have seen more than enough

Iwobi that came on for less than 10 minutes against Egypt, we saw what he did in those 10 minutes.

A player who is good does not need to start a game or play for 45 minutes before they show their mettle.

Even Awoniyi's first game, despite not scoring, we saw what he brought.

Please, let us not even try to use game time to make excuses for some players, because there is no truth to it in this scenario.
Hahaha hahaha hahaha Kai the pressure of watching a match surely distorts our sense of time. Rewatching the match I saw that Sadiq was introduced in the 80th minute just like in the first match. Iwobi came in immediately the second half started. Moses scored the 3rd goal in the 46 minutes. See how far off the mark your awareness of time and subs were? So many times our eyes are not primed to see things as they due to pressure

As for Sadiq he didn't play badly oo if only he stands more on his feet

Let's see players start first, that's all I'm saying. 10, 20 or 30 mins, sub is still a sub.

Remember Osimhen vs. Tunisia 3rd plaace game? Osimhen tried as a sub, but he came into a dead game and played a whole halff almost isolated. He had only one half-chance which was off target. Imagine, Rohr and many people on this thread used that game to justify why he didn't play other games in that AFCON. That was full 45 mins o.

Let us start a player and see how he plays in a fresh game to clearly assess his abilities. That is all I am saying. Guinea Bissau is a dead rubber game. I expect to see a rotated squad to give our main guys rest.
Iwobi came at the start of the second half. Sadiq came in 80th minutes. He was the last sub

With Iwobi, I said he was on for less than 10 minutes against Egypt, I did not mention today's game against Sudan, because I know he came on to replace Chukwueze after half time
