Quieroz isn't a small coach shaa. You don't work with Alex Ferguson as assistant coach and not be known somehow. Eguavoen and other local coaches will never get the same or close to the kind of salary a foreigner will earn as Nigeria coach and we both know why. daveP: 2 Likes |

Okoye inexperienced to be our first choice goal keeper. Aina's foul on that player was clumsy. Awoniyi missed his opportunity of getting his first hat trick in GWG by missing 4 chances. I love the way he bullies opponents defenders Great team display. Chukwueze,Simon,Aribo, Zaidu, Ekong and Omeruo ran the show. Aribo's fluidity was orgasmic. 1 Like 1 Share |

Karlovych: Just say you do not understand what dictating play is and I will explain. FLUIDITY That was the statement he made. He showed movement to open for passes. Gave the midfield an identity. That is, his presence took us from chaotic to controlled. He made the midfield tick with ideal short passes. He also showed some nice touches too and passing technique. For the time he had, I was impressed. The bolded is what you quoted. I will use two distinct pointers there. Identity. Before Nwakali came in. Our midfield playing pattern was chaotic. Lots of stray passes and failed link-up play. With Nwakali on, his choices dictated what we were doing. Sideways passes led to us attacking spaces. Backward pass, led to keeping possession and also switching direction through the back. Our play became tidier. Short passes. This is key in dictation. There are times you just need to keep the ball due to a lack of gaps upfront. What this also does is to help pull out opposing players from compact zones. So, I wonder how you can ask if Nwakali dictated play. He did. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe:Nwakali played the last 25 minutes against Sudan, this epistle is not what I asked you. At what point during the 25 minutes he played did he dictate the play or use his natural skill set of long ball. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 4:46am On Jan 16, 2022 |
Karlovych: As you can see, you are just asking questions and have no statement of your own. You should have been able to say, he did not give any long ball. But you can't. Let me help you. First of all, when Eguavoen talked about the long balls, he strictly talked about working against the press. That is when the opposing teams have many players attacking you in your own half. With that, you have gaps for a player with the long-range passing ability to spot the gaps and pick offensive players. In this game, we had the Sudanese team come with a compact/counter system. With that, we did not have gaps to exploit. When Nwakali came in, he did not go on a long ball spree. It does not work like that. However, there was a point in the game he gave a brilliant switch of play with showed his ability to give long balls. I think he gave that switch to Sanusi. It was sharp and tidy. So, WHAT IS YOUR POINT? 1 Like |

Karlovych: I just explained to you what dictating play is and how Nwakali dictated play all through when he was on the pitch. Yet you are asking at what point did he dictate play. For real, read what I wrote and understand what dictating play is and how Nwakali dictated play. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Karlovych: 4:50am On Jan 16, 2022 |
TheGoodJoe:You were the one that emphasized it was his natural skill set, a simple question are you are running about in circles. In order words he used his natural skill set of long balls and recycled it into ideal short passes backwards to his defenders repeatedly during the game and as such he more or less is a hybrid of Yusuf Ayila and Dickson Etuhu. It's no wonder he has zero goals or assists for Huesca and is a reflection of his productivity 6 Likes |

Karlovych: You just said nothing. Then say I am running in circles. Funny. Did Nwakali dictate play? Yes he did. Despite us being against a compact side, he was able to give us a direction of play with his tidy short passes. Did he give long balls? Not much because of the compact areas. Remember how many balls Ekong lost due to long balls. However, Nwakali showed the ability. I remember one to Sanusi. Trying to mock the player does not score you points. Saying I am running in circles does not score you points. My points are clear. Yours is not. 2 Likes |

Karlovych: So I should be holding clock to tell you what exact time Nwakali gave a long ball to Sanusi? Ha. You are funny. What time did Awoniyi miss shot? Or tell me what time Iheanacho dropped deep to spray a side pass. Funny. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 4:59am On Jan 16, 2022 |
Karlovych: Please, learn to understand. I want a player that has the ability to dictate play with long balls from deep. Does not mean 90 minutes, he will be playing long balls. I do not need to do this but sometimes, I just need to spend time on the thread discussing basic points. Nwakali showed the ability. The coach wants a player with the ability. The coach did not say he expects the player, no matter the situation to keep playing long balls. It does not work like that. This is basic comprehension. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:The questions have been rephrased but yet no concrete answer, majority of his passes during the game were backwards putting the team under pressure. You remember Ekong giving long balls but not Nwakali, how convenient. Simon Moses also had one which lead to his goal, but the one you remember from the specialist was to a left back. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Karlovych: What are you saying? Passing back is to keep possession. The pressure we suffered, mostly before Nwakali came in came from unnecessary forward passes. That was due to poor midfield dictation. Those sideways, backwards, and some forward passes is to keep us off pressure and improve our ball retention. Ekong gave long balls that were directionless. Which meant, giving away possession. Which means handing over control. Ha. |

TheGoodJoe:Another vague comment, Nwakali showed ability. Even Sadiq showed ability falling all over the pitch, you might as well term it distracting Sudanese players or buying time for the team, go and sleep. 2 Likes |
