Igo9: No. They are Italians. But I heard some of them came from a certain part of Greece. Rubbish. |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by oyatz(m): 12:02pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Which one is Ebonyians? Different parts of Ebonyi evolved differently but ONLY the people themselves can speak for themselves. Ethnic Identities changes with time and I think that majority of the people of Ebonyi State now identify as Igbos. |

Igo9: Have you asked the ones you met if they are Igbo and they said no? |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 12:35pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Igo9: Mention one Ijaw and one Ibibio village in the southeast. The villages you mention must be shown to be speaking Ijaw and Ibibio dialects. |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by Igo9(m): 1:00pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
RedboneSmith:Ibibios are cut into abia state from cross river state... You don't know anything about south east... I will be your teacher but you can ask your brothers here... Now to Ijaws of south east.. Ndoki-Ijaws of abia state.. Egbema-Ijaws of imo state... Though, they are minorities within those states... Go google ethnicities in abia... 2 Likes |

RedboneSmith:I don't need to ask one person because they already speaking in large numbers that they are not Igbos.. |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by Igo9(m): 1:06pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
oyatz:that's why I asked the question today.. because some of them identifying with Igbo and most of them don't want to identify with Igbo... Example, the afikpos who will never identified with Igbo |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 1:15pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Igo9: I could tell from a long way off that you created this post to make mischief. The indigenes of Ebonyi State are not speaking in any large numbers that they are not Igbo. That is a lie. But even if they were, and you knew they were, why then are you asking in this post if they were Igbo, since you already know? You don't need to pretend you are asking questions. Slander Igbos with your full chest. Why are there this many busybodies on Nairaland, btw? |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 1:23pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Igo9: The lies that you people tell about Igbo people go choke una one day. The same Afikpo that Chief Gary Nnachi Enwo-Igariwey, the former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, comes from. The same Afikpo that the founder of the aggressively pan-Igbo group "Igboist" on Facebook (Maria Ude Nwachi a.k.a. Afikpo Chic) comes from. Why Igbo matter dey give una sleepless nights? |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 1:32pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Igo9: Okay. No wahala. I don't know. Ngwanụ mention one village in Abia that is an Ibibio village and uses ibibio as a first language. Educate me, nna, because I don't know anything about the Southeast. Now to Ijaws of south east.. Let me talk about 'Egbema-Ijaws' first, because that one made me burst out laugh. Walahi. You idiots on Nairaland won't kill me. Because how can someone that has sense not know that the Ijaw-speaking Egbema in Delta and the Igbo-speaking Egbema in Imo are not related in any way! And wetin be Ndoki-Ijaws? So because of a shared relationship with the Ibani (who speak Igbo, by the way, in addition to their Ibani dialect) you want to slap the Ijaw label on the Ndoki who speak Igbo and no Ijaw, not even as a second language. Will you GOH! Go google ethnicities in abia... Horseshit, you hear? What you're googling is horseshit. 1 Like |

aribisala0:Oga stop long text, if you have good comprehensive analysis, you should deduce a second reason in my comment. I'm not gonna tell you, it's there. But the fact remains that Ebonyi is an Igbo state with all common attributes of the Igbos, from language to behaviour, period. |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by aribisala0(m): 2:00pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Isobug:I don't have good comprehensive analysis What you said is not logical and was totally off point I did not say they are not Ibo Carving out is TOTALLY irrelevant and does not buttress your conclusion |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by Probz(m): 6:19pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Igo9: “When someone from the Black Country (West Midlands) speaks their conc. dialect, no-one from Liverpool, Manchester or London would understand them. Are Birmingham indigenes not English on that premise? Is the second-largest city in England not an English city again by virtue of the fact that their local dialect just happens to be conc. as hell? Is intra-national diversity not supposed to be something to encourage rather than ostracise people for? |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by Probz(m): 6:22pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Igo9: Other than the pocketful of Igala communities what exist on the northernmost peripheries of Anambra and possibly Nsukka, Igala is more of a middle-belt ethnicity than anything else. Ibaji folk can just about pass as Ezike-Nsukka-palm-wine-tapping hybrids but core northern Igalas are more like Yorubas and Hausas than anything else. Where in the f*ck did you get the idea that Igala territory as a whole is entrenched predominantly in the south-east? Who told you that lie? |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by Igo9(m): 8:22pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
Probz:I don't know what you saying but all I I'm saying is that igalas are indigenous to the south east |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 8:35pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
I Probz: Omo, leave that guy. Na jonse im dey jonse. I just found out he is Ijaw. Ijaws are the last people in this country who should even try to use linguistic/dialectal diversity to argue against the ethnic cohesion of any people-group in this country. No 'ethnic group' in Nigeria is as linguistically diverse as the Ijaw. Ijaw will claim Odual, Abua, Obolo (Andoni), Degema, etc are Ijaw, but none of these groups even speaks an Ijoid language/dialect. Even the Defaka people of Nkoro that do speak an Ijoid language, their language is so divergent that mainstream Ijaw people don't understand them. Yet this Ijaw boy here wants come and talk about Ebonyi. 2 Likes |

RedboneSmith:Ijaws understand one another, mr man. Though, there are differences.. But in this case, ebonyians and Igbos can never understand each other languages, that's the fact.. |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by Igo9(m): 5:56am On Jan 19, 2022 |

Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 7:35am On Jan 19, 2022 |
Igo9: Taa! You don't understand an Nkoro man when he speaks his language, let alone an Obolo man (who you people keep claiming are Ijaw.) |
Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 7:43am On Jan 19, 2022 |
Igo9: Shey I have asked you to show proof of 'Ebonyians' denying Igbo, you kept quiet. I gave you the name of an Ebonyi man who recently served as President-General of Ohanenze Ndigbo, you kept quiet. I mentioned the very Igbotic Maria Ude Nwachi who is from Ebonyi, you kept quiet. What of Chief Akanu Ibiam, a pioneer of Igbo nationalism in the early colonial era who was from the area that is now Ebonyi State? What of the IPOB leader Simon Ekpa, a son of Ebonyi? What of the young and vibrant Mazi Ogbonnaya Okoro, a prolific writer of Igbo novels, a teacher of the Igbo language and an aggressive defender of Igbo language, culture and interest, who is from Ebonyi? If you dey run mad, go find your colleagues for Yaba Left and leave the internet. |

Re: Are The Ebonyians Really Igbos? by RedboneSmith(m): 11:37am On Jan 19, 2022 |
Igo9: If there is one thing you people are good at, it is lying. Go and tell this lie to someone who doesn't know the area well. Ordinary Nembe and Kolokuma can't understand each other's Ijoid languages. No Ijaw person understands wetin Defaka people in Nkoro dey talk. Andoni, Abua, Ogbia, Odual, Apoi, Engenni, etc are a different matter all together because those ones don't even speak Ijoid languages to begin with. But even nsukka language is different from Igbo language Nsukka that I went to for a traditional wedding this December and I was speaking my dialect and they were speaking theirs and we were communicating just fine? You will just drink kai kai early in the morning and be typing nonsense from one creek. |

Igo9:And yet you will not post a link where he said it, only showing me a picture you edited in your hut in Obotebe. Ogogoro drinker, this is what Dave Umahi actually said: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/punchng.com/igbo-has-investments-everywhere-were-not-part-of-biafra-umahi/%3famp Umahi said Ebonyi will not be part of Biafra. Now I know some of you are too slow to understand that there's a difference between Biafra (a proposed political state) and Igbo (an ethnolinguistic group), but there is. Now I also know you don't know this, but many Igbos do opppse the idea of Biafra. Read the article above and show me where Umahi said his people are not Igbos. He, as a matter of fact, affirmed his Igboness in the article. When they tell you to leave kai kai and focus on school so you no go dey misunderstand wetin person yard, you refused. |
