Who told you a woman in 30s to 40s have higher chances of multiple births? Those women in their 30's and 40's you see having multiple births conceive mainly through IVF. With IVF, you can calculatively go for twins or triplets.

You are right about the man's chances also getting slimmer with age too.

About settling for his age gap, that's his choice to make.
