Muyizie: Hey Papi/Mami You are a few steps away from reconnecting with your fam. and would say is something you can easily sort... I am not sure what was the source of the birth certificate you submitted with your application but you may want to take the following steps, if this was not the case Get a birth cert. from National population commissions(NPC) that is issued under the births, deaths etc (compulsory registration) decree 69 of, 1992 of the federal republic of Nigeria, and that should come at no cost and you should have it issued on spot where and when you would be filling a request for one(in most cases such birth certs. come with a seal, stamp of LGA, name of registrar as well as his/her signature), afterwards you may wish to have the BC notarized, this could be done in Abuja or any state across Nigeria by legal bodies with such jurisdictions. Note this comes with some cost though, somewhere around 1000k-5000k or less, this from knowledge of one that was done 2 decades ago, as such cost maybe less or more now After you must have done this you may want to proceed with this quote "If you have further evidence you want us to consider, you can make another application under the EUSS Family Permit at no cost: https://www.gov.uk/family-permit/eu- settlement-scheme-family-permit" Or other steps provided to you in the letter. Pls kindly visit the NPC and other legal bodies as you may require to support your refused current birth cert. Best wishes and happy reconnecting with your fam..... |

Muyizie: Your case is simple. All you need to do is write Home office that you will volunteer to do DNA testing to prove the father-son relationship. Home office must approve your DNA request before you can do it. Note that the cost of the DNA testing is your responsibility. |

Muyizie: The birth certificate should be issued before the child been given name, after or late registration after 12 months shall only be registered, According to Nigeria Births, Deaths, Etc. (Compulsory Registration) Act, No. 69 (14 December 1992) The Eco noted that your birth cert registered 17 years after the date of your birth, the date issued your birth cert is not corresponding according to the date of your birth. I will advised you to do attestation of age at NPC with affidavit and stamp or if you want to kill it do DNA. I did mean you knew this before you will go to local government around you to get old birth certificate that is corresponding to your birth date and backdate the year of issuing. |

Out of the 1.5m I support my wife with 300k and the 3 kids with 400k each. Note: my wife personally stated that she I'll adding 400k from her money plus 300k sponsorship from me out of hr 1.5m, making 700k for her trip cost I wrote a sponsorship letter for each of them I even wrote inside Extral information in application form that I transferred 1.5m to my wife acct See the below refusal letter

Dinoforyou00: There are two types transit visas Airport transit visas, means you would remain within the airport (i.e area for international departure), whilst waiting for a connecting flight to your final destination, mostly needed if you would require to re-check your luggage and your stop-over time exceeds 2hrs waiting time if not mistaking. City transit visa means you can leave the airport, enter the city for duration of your transit visa (usually very limited and this type is ideal if you are travelling by road/land) and you wish to pass through a third state or more to your final destination. (mainly the EU, USA, UK, etc would require Nigeria passport holders have a transit visa. which ever of you choose to apply for is your choice and the ONUS would be on you to show you merit the transit visa. No, not all countries/flights require transit visas for Nigerian passport holders and a transit visa is determined by a country's policy for immigrants and not the airline (note; diplomatic passport holders are in most cases excluded) Turkey, Dubai, Ethiopia, and more do not require you to have a transit visas for stop-overs. |

Sorry about this. I see two issues here. They didn't really get the breakdown of what you said regarding 400k to 3 kids and additional 300k for her. To them, they have taken it that she only had 400k for the trip of which that is not enough as the flight would have consumed most of that. Depending on the age of your kids, under 2, or 2-11 or 12+, the 400k may also not go a long way beyond their ticket. It's important to mentally breakdown flight, food, transport per person and per day (mandatories) and possibly shopping and entertainment (optional). Infact, you can include this in the application. A friend of mine did this, she broke down the budget for her family of four and my husband did the same. This will help you see what amount is credible to claim as your expected budget. It also seems there were other unexplained deposits. I would advise that next time perhaps, she present her account as is (without any large deposits from you) while you present your sponsorship letter, bank statement and evidence of your income as long as your account is also clean. I also noticed that the way Nigerians express themselves is very different. Sometimes, other nationalities are unable to grasp the motive behind their words. So, the cover letters need to be written very clearly; using plain language that's easy to understand and use bullet points to explain these deposits. You can highlight the deposits on the statement, number them and then reference them by number, date and description in the cover letter so the ECO is left in no doubt. I have only just noticed your sponsorship letter; so I think you did this well so I'm not sure what else they require. I also think that when candidates have previous travel history that's strong and the ECO deems the application as credible and healthy, they sometimes overlook all these minor details. It's when they are not satisfied that they nitpick these little things. The two issues here are the insufficient budget for a family of 4 to travel and other unexplained deposits in her account. You can easily fix this and reapply. Gentlesoul3268: 1 Like |

The UK, America and most European countries require Nigerians to either have a specific transit visa or a visitor visa for a country of similar status. E.g. If you have an American visa, you can transit through Europe without a Schenghen transit but if you don't have one, you need the transit visa. The visitor visa can also be used to transit. For the UK, there are two types on transit visas. 1. Direct Airside Transit Visa- This is for someone with a connecting flight that leaves the same day. You can't arrive today and take your next flight tomorrow. It needs to be on the same day. You will remain within the departure area of the terminal and so your luggage must automatically be transferred from your arrival flight to the connecting one. This means that if you land with Emirates and want to connect through Virgin, you can't use this visa because you will need to collect your luggage from one flight and check into another. 2. Visitor in Transit Visa. This is valid for 48 hours and is for people who want to transit through but perhaps the connecting flight is the next day or they are flying two different airlines so they need to clear immigration, pick up luggage and check in again. This allows you the opportunity to do that and perhaps check into an airport hotel for the night and continue your journey or proceed to visit friends for the day and return. Option 1 is easier to get because there's minimal to zero chance of absconding but with option 2, the candidate gets access to the city so can actually abscond. Dinoforyou00: |

You can't re-check in luggage with an airport or airside transit visa. To recheck in your luggage, you need a city transit or visitor in transit visa as you will need to exit the departure area, clear immigration etc. leef2022: |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Nchabuomo: 3:49pm On Jan 20, 2022 |
Gentlesoul3268: I think you can challenge the decision though based on what is written. I'm not 100 percent sure who you can email but perhaps write to UKVI attaching the refusal letter and VAF that addresses the issues. I'm assuming there aren't other unexplained large deposits in your wife account in the period. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by leef2022: 3:59pm On Jan 20, 2022 |
AmeliaT: Dear AmeliaT, Pls explain why you can't recheck if you have the transit visas, I would have thought that is one of its purpose(s)? So if for instance you depart LOS with Air france or if Rynna air or whichever, and your connecting flight to the Uk or final destination is Lufthansa or another carrier or such you have multiple stop overs, would Air france or Lufthansa do the re-checking for the traveler? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by leef2022: 4:02pm On Jan 20, 2022 |
Nchabuomo: I wouldn't disagree with your op. think the applicant demonstrated quite enough on the deposit. (like Date, time). Not sure what more and how clear that could be explained. Unless and Unless there were other large deposits... |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Gentlesoul3268: 4:16pm On Jan 20, 2022 |
AmeliaT: Thanks Amelia, there's no other deposit into the acct only the 1.5m I transferred into her account, the only mistake we made is that I transferred the sponsorship money into her account and the reason why is that many people on this forum have done that many time and worked. My wife salary is 250k and her monthly expenses is 30k left her 220k for her disposal income. I believe that the Eco don't want applicant to spend more than 2 disposable income as I learnt from people refusal, so that's why I wanted to sponsor her and the kids. 2. When we wanted to apply I checked the airline we saw is not up to 400k per person and the hotel we booked is very cheap 418 pounds for 4 people. 3. About the trip cost, like I said she mention that she wanted to contribute 400k from her own money and while I wanted to sponsor her with 300k making total of 700k. But we made a mistake where they asked a question that how much you personally wanted to spend for the trip we mistakenly put 400k instead of 700k in total, and we put 300k to where they asked how much they wanted to sponsor your trip. But noted in a cover letter with details My question now is that 1.When can I re apply for them ? 2.How can I review why they are refused or not necessary since we knew the reason they are refused just to make a correction? 3.Can we wait to let the 1.5m I transferred into my wife account wave from the statement account ? 4.If I wanted to sponsor them in their next application can I submit 3 month bank statement or is it mandatory to submit 6 month bank statement? Please need more insight.... Thanks everyone |

AmeliaT: "Airport Transit Visa You remain in the airport’s international zone while waiting for the transfer flight to your final destination, and your final destination is located outside the Schengen area. Airport transit visa 1/ You are travelling from an airport in a country located outside the Schengen Area and staying in the international zone of an airport located in metropolitan France while waiting for your connection to your final destination, which is also located outside the Schengen Area. You must apply for an “A” airport transit visa (ATV) if you hold: An ordinary, service or special passport issued by: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, or Sri Lanka; An ordinary passport issued by: Angola, Bolivia, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mali, Mauritania, the Philippines (except in the case of seafarers holding a seaman’s book issued in accordance with international conventions), the Republic of Guinea, the Republic of the Congo, Russia (if you are travelling from an airport located in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Turkey or Egypt), Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria or India; A service passport issued by the Republic of Guinea; A travel document for Palestinian refugees; A travel document for Palestinian refugees issued by the Egyptian, Lebanese or Syrian authorities. This requirement does not apply to holders of diplomatic passports. You do not require an airport transit visa if you are: An aircraft crew member or national of a country that is party to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation (except China); A holder of a valid residence permit issued by a Member State of the European Union or the European Economic Area; A holder of a residence permit guaranteeing the right of return and issued by Monaco, the Principality of Andorra, Japan, Canada, the United States or the Republic of San Marino, by one or more countries or public bodies from the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius); A holder of a valid visa for a Member State of the European Union or the European Economic Area, Canada, the United States or Japan, by one or more countries or public bodies from the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius); A family member of a national of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland; A holder of a valid Schengen visa, a national long-stay visa, or a residence permit issued by a Schengen country. There are three types of airport transit visa (ATV): A one-way ATV, which authorizes one-way transit through a Schengen country; A return ATV, which authorizes return airport transit through one or two Schengen countries; A multiple ATV, which authorizes several transits through one or more Schengen countries. Holders of ATVs are not authorized to enter the Schengen Area. If you have a connection between two airports in the Schengen Area, or if the airport through which you wish to enter the French territory is closed overnight for the duration of the transit, you must hold a valid short-stay Schengen visa. 2/ You are travelling from an airport in a third country and you will remain in the international zone of an airport located in a French overseas department, community or territory while waiting for your connection to your final destination, which is also located in a third country. The same rules apply as for transit through metropolitan France (see above). If you wish to leave the international zone and enter the French overseas department, community or territory in which the airport you are transiting through is located, you must hold a valid short-stay visa for the territory concerned". As available on France visa application for transit visa. I did not find where it states a person with an airport transit can't re-check his/her luggage. Maybe when i did so, was error for the immigration to allow me. |

So sorry about this @Gentlesoul3268. I have a question though. Is 1.9 million naira sufficient for a trip of 4 people? Also, how long werethey meant to stay? Also, did you add your account statement? Because, how sure is the ECO that the 1.5 million you sent to your wife isn't everything you had? He/she needs to be convinced of your financial standing as a sponsor. This includes your account statement, your payslips and details about the your source of income. The ECO needs to be assured that her husband is very comfortable financially. Also, apart from the monthly deposit, did your wife provide payslips from her company? Did she include a letter of introduction from her employer? To be honest, I would advice that instead of your wife travelling with all 3 children (which may look suspicious. As if she wants to run away). Why not travel with maybe just the first child and return. When applying with the first child, she will make mention of how she still has her 2 youngest children in Nigeria e.t.c (make the stay not longer than 2 weeks). Then the next time, she will reapply for a 2 year visa (because she is now trusted by the UK after having returned while on a 6 month visa) and when she's reapplying, she can decide to go on vacation with the youngest 2 children and leave the first born in Nigeria. I remember when I was very young and my dad who had been visiting the U.S for many years took all 4 of us for their visa interview. We were denied straight! Most times, the visa officers think that a parent wants to travel with all their children and never return (and let's be honest, this is usually the case with a lot of people). Building trust with these countries requires patience. Your family needs to gradually create a travel history with them. I had to learn this through my own family's story. Gentlesoul3268: |
