Honestly the process of Canadian study permit is not for the faint hearted cry as you have to adopt "Patience" as middle name during the process and waiting period. grin
But i believe it's worth it at the end cheesy

Osemigho:

Your best Canadian option, if you have a great UK GPA, is PhD. That will take you about 1 year or more to complete the admission and visa process. Another masters or PGD might work, but you will have a lot of explaining and planning to do. If you are seeking a quick and easy route to study abroad, I believe UK is still your best option for now. Canada requires a lot of patience and planning. I am not sure you will be able or ready to do that since you're already eyeing and under pressure with UK.

Hi guys. I’m new on this thread. I was rejected CAS yesterday from Teesside University in the UK. A lot of funds wasted. Painful but I have to pick myself up. I’ve been trying to read the thread but I don’t understand a lot of things here. Especially the proof of funds and application part. Pls I don’t know if there is anyone willing to put me through in this process. I’ll appreciate if you can email me - harykemiolajumoke@gmail.com. Thank you

Been awhile guys
Shoutout to @lekiboboe. I don’t know how you keep up with Nairaland while studying. You are a rare gem. Congratulations to those that have been granted ppr and all the best to those awaiting ppr.

To those of you that have been granted ppr and already studying online for winter semester, please complete your winter semester in Nigeria.

Adapting to a new environment is already challenging but doing so during winter makes it more difficult. I must say I am coping much better with the cold than I expected, but that’s because I was prepared and already familiar with the system to an extent.

You’re likely to get lost or miss your bus at some point. Believe me you don’t want that to happen to you in the cold.

The winter is brutal but it’s not all that bad when you are in indoor. You won’t even feel it with a good heater in your residence. My point is that arriving during winter is not a good idea.

Best wishes to everyone.
Hello Big Chief i sight you, trust you are doing great and coping with the Sweet winter cheesy. Thanks for the compliments, we miss your great & Fantabolous posts, I go tell Trudeau to freaky your Account grin

Hahahaha, it ain't easy, actually I was offline for straight two months - Early November to Late December 2021. Me just dey pass by, hibernation mode loading (study + work etc).

About the Winter, you have said it all. The Winter in the likes Of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Sudbury (Northern Ontario) nobi anybody mate. As far as you got the right clothing, even at 40 degrees, you gonna be fine, no fashion for Winter cool.

Fall session Still remains the best Intake to resume wink

Thanks a lot for this, I do understand what you mean. I personally see Computer Science as too broad a course, having a BSc to me is good enough so right now I’m just deciding to focus on Data Analytics or data related studies.

I am talking about your job prospect after study. Computer science is broad but it is more lucrative and competitive than Data science. Check Data science jobs and you will see that Computer science degree will be accepted, not the other way round. Data science like oil and gas engineering is a trending term that schools are jumping on to milk the field while it last.

Most schools don't even understand what it is about and they just teach you excel and stuff. I have friends that graduated in Data science programs in US and Canada and they all tell me they wish they did another program because of that. I also have friends that completed computer science program and I haven't seen anyone of them complain.

It is better to get a degree like computer science that had stand the test of time. You are also likely to get a full scholarship for msc computer science, while most masters in data science won't offer you any. The choice is yours sha at the end of the day.

If you think study permit is slow, go and ask PR and citizenship applicants. I know applicants that are still waiting for 2 years for those. Canada is slow in general and hopefully will become more faster and competitive as the population increases.

It happens sometimes bro......U get pfl despite submitting a genuine statement.
Anon123:

DONOT NOTALIZED THAT BANK STATEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is more or less like it was edited upon!

Please do not send that notarize statement otherwise, it is a 5yrs BAN without appeal.

GET A NEW STAMPED BANK STATEMENT OF THE SAME PERIOD, ALONG WITH A REFERENCE LETTER OR GET YOUR MBS.

But why were you sent a PFL if your statement is okay
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by RxOtunba: 2:51am On Jan 22, 2022
Even after confirming, u still get a pfl sometimes.....This Canada waka, seems like too many stages involved in the approval process.
Gift212:
Who knows? Like legacyedition said maybe they tried to contact the bank about the account and didn't get a response.
Or maybe they contacted UBA Nigeria and they couldn't verify as it's from UBA Gambia (or is it the other way round).
It'd be nice to know the reason in GCMS note (after the matter has been sorted).
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by RxOtunba: 2:53am On Jan 22, 2022
If possible, get your account officer to send via email to one of the IRCC email addresses, and also send a copy. Let all pages have the bank stamp.
mk4fna:

The problem is the account is in UBA guinea and they don't have MBS. so shouldn't notarize. i should just get a new bank statement like the old one and submit it again

Congrats! So u put in for both visitor's and SOWP right? Good to see the approval, as I thought peoe were complaining abt SOWP being delayed.

SOWP and study visa applications approved same day!!!

My husband's  SOWP and my 11year old son study permit got approved after the 3rd attempt.
First attempt 2016 we all applied as a family and were all bounced on purpose of visit and home ties. After I got my study permit approved in June 2021 we reapplied  on
11 July 2021 - visitors visa for hubby and study permit for kids
Refused 29th September

Reapplied October 29 before the GCMS notes came because it was delayed.
Medical for my husband November 15 ( my son had done his medicals earlier)
Medical passed November 22
GCMS notes finally came in late November- December 2021 (applied for hubby and the kids and they all came at different dates, one even came in the middle of December) GCMS notes showed the VO was concerned about the cost implications of running 2 homes and home ties.
Luckily all those concerns had been adequately tackled in the SOP during reapplication.
In the course of waiting a friend who had also applied for study permit for her kids decided to try out the new IRCC portal and got her kids visitor visa approved in 7days so we decided to give it a try too. Visitor visa application was done on the 19th of December 2021...then another round of waiting commenced.
Eligibility 20/01/2022 (noticed my son's medical was passed on that date)

PPRs January 21, 2022!!!

3k cad per child...and not 5k cad....
As us has free visa to canada, they can't stay in US beyond 180 days on free visit visa to Canada unless extended otherwise they will be illegal immigrants...they can't study on visit visa..
They must be included on the family information form when making your application..if they can't travel with you at this time ..and all necessary information filled date of birth ,birth certificates attached etc ..for future records..if you don't include this information, you will have hard time bringing them to Canada to join you later..excluding kid after the application..

Are you very sure about this? I want to believe this is false!

It's like this new IRCC website is faster than usual o. A friend of mine applied late December and she already got her study permit as at yesterday.
I guess I'll have to reapply through this new website

Okay here goes.

First I have an open PR application so I didn't need to do biometrics, upfront medicals (at the time of submitting was valid), and police report.

Documents submitted include:
- IMM forms
- LOE
- CV
- University certificate and transcript
- IELTS
- Upfront medical form
- Letter of Reference from current employer
- 6 months payslip
- letter of reference from bank
- 6 month's bank statements for my Naira, dollar, and investment accounts
- Pension Fund statement of account and letter from PFA stating I can withdraw 25%
- Letter of sponsorship from my two sponsors - mother and sister, also noting that it wasn't notarised
- Sister's birth certificate
- 6 months bank statement of my sponsors ( when I read from this page that the amount they are sponsoring not be a major portion of their funds, I got an additional bank statement from one of my sponsors and uploaded via webform)
- Certificate of Enrolment from School (I guess what is called LOA), this showed the scholarship I got from the school
- Loan approval letter

Submitted Oct 27, Dec 30 my medical was updated to Pass, and I saw that eligibility review had started. Some days after it was updated to "you don't need medicals", cos my medicals had expired.

Got medical request 6th January, called QLife they said they'll only give me a date in February, so I tried IOM and they booked me for 13th January.

Yesterday 21st, updated to pass, and PPR.

donkunzman:
Hi Guys,

Just got PPR.

Submitted application on Oct. 27
Medical request on Jan. 6
Medicals on Jan. 13

Will post more details later.

Thanks everyone for your contributions that gave me heart attack because I submitted my application before finding this page - I thought my submission was not sufficient. Lol.

Kindly get across to me.

I need your input, i just got served a refusal letter.

I am new here, i do not know how nairaland works.

i was refused on this grounds.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

It's more like the generic response given to applicants whose study permit application were refused. Seems to be a problem with Home ties and weak financial status. But to get to the real reason why your study permit was rejected you need to apply for your gcms notes.

This information is not correct. I travelled with two of my kids who are US citizens and whose application had coincidentally just been refused at the time. They were given a visitors record at the POE after the officer asked me if they would be staying throughout my study duration. The visitor record allows them study in Canada and is valid for the same duration as my study permit.

I don’t understand
Are U saying US citizens where refused visa?
